A fantastic performance by Kris. Fully committed, as usual, and I’m sorry that he’s on the losing side, but he’s been brilliant throughout and hopefully we’ll see him come back and go to another level, similar to players like Wissa and Bryan when they came back from the AFCON.

Enjoy your break, Kris, and we look forward to seeing you back at Jersey Road.

I'm delighted he was on the losing side no matter how well he did 💯

Yeah , this place is weird sometimes 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍺
More often than not, but that’s its charm. Although, the phenomenon of being concerned about Brentford players doing well against England, and hoping they are on the losing side, is far more recent. We had about 135 worry free years 🤣

Great performance and love to see the fire. I don't see how you can start SVDB ahead of him. He needs some real rest though - he's been through it.
I thought he was immense last night and if he can recreate that for us, him playing alongside SVDB would be ideal.

As was the case last season, in what was becoming a strong partnership.

I appreciate that means I’d be in favouring of benching our captain, but I don’t think he’s ahead of either of them right now

Real selection dilemma for KA now is it AJER/VDB, AJER/Collins, Collins/VDB? Nice problem but it will be very difficult not to start AJER now.

Add in Schuster, Arthur & Pinnock and our options are CB are phenomenal 💯

Will it mean pushing/coaching Nathan into a DM role? Was there speculation about this before? Prob wrong thread!

Kristoffer Ajer

That’s the same dilemma as last season, that’s how good squads are built.
True, it doesn’t really change anything in terms of Keith’s selection criteria.

Kristoffer Ajer

If they are all at their best, he doesn't start for me 🤷

Form, injury, nature of opponent & suspension will mean we are blessed to have such fine options.

I like Kris but he's the reserve in my book most of the time.

Terrific game and tournament from Kris. Showed he can play a full 90 (120 even) in this tournament and doesn’t need to be subbed off as regularly as he seems to be for us. Although maybe it’s just he’s fully fit finally.
That’s the question, I’ve just looked up his injury record, and he’s fared better this last season, compared to the season before, and another plus point is his versatility, so it’s looking good for the season to come,

I suspect it’ll be initially resolved by giving Ajer a rest after the tournament and him having a delayed preseason.

More generally I think across the PL the players who’ve gone to R16 and beyond are likely not to feature that much early season. We’ll be very glad that Ireland and Denmark didn’t qualify and that Brazil barely played Thiago.

Kris has had an outstanding WC playing against the best teams and players in the world.

I think he has played every match for Norway for all the playing time, perhaps being subbed just once.

Against England he showed his passion and commitment, and for some of the time he was marking Harry K., which may explain why Harry had a quieter game.

Apart from one goal-keeping mistake, Norway made it a real match for England.

Kris sweated blood and tears for his team, earning a yellow card purely for ultra commitment, like most of his team mates.

That is apart from Haarland, who looked like he was out for a quiet training session!

Play again like Kris has, and IMHO he needs to remain as a regular part of our defensive squad.
He certainly must be worth some reasonable money based on his WC performance.

Well played Kris!

I would expect Nathan and Sepp to be the starting 2 for the opening games as would imagine Kris will be eased into the season after his summer. He'll probably be raring to go but after very little time off you'd assume we would be trying to manage his load this season especially with his injury record (though I feel like he didn't really miss much last season through injury so maybe we've got a handle on that now?)

Kristoffer Ajer

Going into the new season he, like everyone on else on the team, will have to earn their position so we will have to wait and see. Kris is happy to be at the club and wants to play, of course, but he is, no doubt, a realist and has many years of experience so unless there is something major to cause him to think about leaving then I think it will be business as usual.

I'm not sure I agree. I am really annoyed with a SVDB who has an xG of over four with free headers on corners and he got exactly zero. If he and Schade had gotten two more each we could have been in Europe. A lot of us, myself included, like to scapegoat Schade, but if we are looking at the stats SVDB squandered a ton of opportunities too. Collins too, but not as many. Poor performance from our CBs on attacking set plays was a huge problem. Ajer deserves a shot. He's excellent at the long throw flick ons too.
