Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Probably a win-win-win for all parties. We've probably got what we can out of him. I'm sure we could put the salary budget he'd vacate to very good use. He was a very solid addition to the squad last season and certainly made a positive impact on lots of areas.

That said, I regard Chelsea very much as a direct competitor for next season and we'd be undoubtedly making them stronger with this signing. One of the main things (amongst many others) that they're missing are seasoned and highly experienced professionals to help lead their young squad. He might not have a huge impact but marginal gains and all that...

However, I suppose those gains may flip the other way if he starts a high number of games for them! Not to be too disrespectful.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

He did an excellent job for us on and off the field. Good luck to him in his future career and I’m excited at how we might try to replace his influence as both a player and an exemplar.

Did he do a better job off the pitch for us than he did with England 🤣

Chelsea have been average but if Jordan Henderson lines up against us for anyone else then I fancy our chances 👍

Chelsea must be starting up a Veterans team if they get both JH and Welbeck... :ROFLMAO:

As already posted it does give Chelsea 2 homegrown players

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Blimey already changed to as good as gone. We surely must have a replacement coming in.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Amazing how far we have come. An England International who was at the World Cup, and he probably would not be a starter for us this season.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

It’s not as if Chelsea have Europe where he will/ could get game time.
Stick my neck out and say it’s not them, muff, Brighton or even home to his own club Sunderland

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Well yes, but I'd argue he shouldn't have been in that squad.
Although equally might have been the difference in the semi final had he been fit. (I agree with you though.)

Thanks for the memories, Jordan. Another chance to improve the squad.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

We rarely sell someone without a ready made replacement 👀
I would say that’s the case for most clubs to be far

I think it's a sop to their fanbase, who are dying (pun intended) to cheer their team on with "Come on you Pensioners!".

A similar comment to this led to a discussion around how I was far more ‘moved’ and proud to be a bees fan seeing Ivan play for England with us than I am seeing Jordan.

He came here to play for England. Mutual beneficial, short term arrangement, nothing more. Which is why when people said he’s burnt his bridges after being too cosy with Liverpool fans I just found it funny, because In my view there wasn’t even a bridge to burn

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

That’s quite random. A very football manager transfer

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

His epitaph with us would be that it was a short marriage of convenience where we helped each other.

We helped restore his image and get him to the World Cup and he helped teach our young players how to live and look after yourself as a top professional.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Didn’t see that coming.

Assume we MUST have another midfielder lined up or maybe the club are content with what they have?

Never quite felt like he was one of ‘us’ and I could never quite get how many ‘der, der, der’s’ there were in his song so for that reason only, I’m glad he’s gone.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Agree. I really hope there is a younger, faster replacement lined up for him. He'd be nothing more than a sub next year imo.

No surprise to me if he leaves after a year. Going to Chelsea would be a surprise though.
I think we already have one, he’s called Yehor Yarmoliuk.

Looking at the pre-season camp photos it looks like he’s doubled in size!

And, after soaking up all the knowledge and nous he would have learnt from having Jordan around last season I would expect Yarmo to raise his level to new heights and use the skills learnt to enhance his game.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Objective achieved for him and us.He got the WC and we got stability and a bit of leadership in that first part of last season but he could see he wasn't 1st choice towards the end of it.
Coming to the end of his playing career and he probably wants to position himself for what comes next.

Agreed, he’s nailed on to start 6 next year

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

A lot of negative stuff about him this evening. A really high profile English pro who came when we were viewed by the outside world as in crisis and committed to us . What a message to our young squad and the league!!! I think it was invaluable. Did its job brilliantly.
Thanks Jordan , always welcome back as far as I am concerned

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

So the club probably has a good reason for it, but why would we let him go on a free, couldn't we at least make a million or two?

Yes, but I fully expect someone else coming in. Midfield really needs some quality adding to it.

Jordan is past it, so he can sod off to anyone that wants to pay him an inflated wage and take his knackered wrist with him.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

Probably only managed 15 minutes per game on average. Best free up the place for someone who can be on it and capable for 90. Was not likely to play till Christmas anyway.
Eh? Played 1921 minutes over 32 appearances last season which is an average of 60.03 minutes per appearance.

If anyone else has some made-up statistics to justify why he wasn't worth the wages, better reveal them ASAP!

Classy post

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

That's two transfers in a row where he's convinced the holding club to just let him go for free.

However he barely played in the second half of the season. This departure probably makes sense unfortunately.

Yes, the guy that broke his arm trying to hurdle an advertising hoarding....

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea)

I'm moderately concerned Chelsea might be starting to sort themselves out instead of just blindly throwing money at the wall but that's probably me giving them too much credit.
Assume Henderson and Alonso are mates from their Liverpool days and he’ll likely play his recent England role to try and add some leadership to a squad that looks severely lacking it. Reckon he’ll do well to start half a dozen games.

I hate these posts. He wouldn't have been a starter for us next season anyway
