Be careful Man U have definitely been linked to Ibrahim Sangare who plays for Forest. Also a DM.

For all I know they may have been linked to both.

Lens fans saying he’s been their best player and seem resigned to loosing him. They also say the fee will be the biggest ever received for one of their players…. This signing is one heck of a statement by the club.

There's been lots of little whispers and rumours that we were looking at this player, interested in that player..all of which fit a similar bill to this chap.
Our signings do tend to go from nothing to pen in hand relatively quickly. That is something that has always impressed me about the club, such is the echo chamber that is a transfer window. With the addition of AI slop to Fab's 2 dozen smartphones.

No we wouldn't. It's just an indication that press reports that we are in for him are true. We have prefixes for later stages, they aren't appropriate here.

but that always confusing folks for some reason. Anyway, most longer-term GPGers are capable of reading in between lines . Those that want detailed definitions of every prefix are probably not.

With Hendo and FTT off the books it clears out a lot of wages and net of FTT fee we’re probably looking at a £30-35m investment. Seems on par with our growth to next level and appears to be the beast of a box to box midfielder that I’ve been whinging on about the last few years. Fingers crossed as I feel this might unlock more potential in a few of our more technically gifted players!

Getting deals across the line is implausably difficult. No doubt a European birth would have made it more straightforward. But it is not straightforward.

So we need to either believe that Phil and his team can do a great job for us or......prepare for relegation/bankruptcy I guess

I have little doubt that we have the smartest duo running our club in the history of football. Prove me wrong and I will buy you a mars bar.

This guy runs your midfield. When he played for us, he was absolutely fantastic, one of the best players who ever played for us in my life time. His only problem was that every few months he got a braindead red card, but it seems he stopped doing that at Lens.

All action midfielder, reminds me of Kante, but more technical, worse defensively (still very good). Basically never runs out of gas and can hoover up everything and then move the ball on through either progressing it himself, a switch of play, or progressive passing. Can probably become one of the best in the world at the 8 or 6 positions

Sangare for half a Baleba with potentially a higher ceiling might be the steal of the window

Fck this is a brilliant signing for that price.

This is genuinely a fantastic signing and pretty cheap considering Anderson and Rogers. If he continues to play like he does, he'll be sold for over 100m in a season or two.

Massive statement of intent if we pull this off - things can still go wrong but I've not seen this prefix before so someone is confident...

Lens are in the CL this season so Phil must be very persuasive to get him to swap that for us albeit swapping a farmers league for the best league in the world and to put himself in the shop window in the future (sorry Nick).

As strong as you can get as per the prefix - put it this way if L'Equipe is reporting it then it is as good a source as you'll get in football IMHO

Clearly still need him to sign the contract etc. so I am not allowing myself to get too excited yet because we have been burnt in the past but the signs are that we are close...

Was also in the official Ligue 1 team of the season. Does have weaknesses and isn't considered a highly creative midfielder and is very low in goal scoring / assists .. but could be a wonderful signing as he's great at transitioning from defence to attack, carry ball out of pressure, has a high pass completion rate (the kind that matters - not knocking it between defenders) and has incredible energy. But a Declan Rice he isn't, yet. A LOT of money for someone with just one stellar but very low scoring/ assist season in a league not as strong as the PL and where the lower
half of teams are championship level.

Will be different in the Prem with far less time on the ball than any other league in the world.

Still, an genuinely exciting signing for £40m. Thats the price for a semi proven genuine elite player. And his MOM performance v PSG was quite simply stunning.
