In a word, yes.

It's pretty well documented that Infantino is going nowhere because he knows how to keep them all "happy". But it's not just the financial incentives that already exist. He's given them all equal voting rights and constant talks of expansion gives them better chance of representation.

Apart from everything else, it's so sad to see the heat ripped out of the game that we all love, and flogged off to the highest bidder who quite frankly has absolutely zero interest in Football. This was on show for the whole World to see only a few weeks ago.

The one nation one vote means this sell off proposal will go through with certainty. Money talks with many football associations, always has always will. That’s why the World Cup will be expanded to 64 teams.

Sadly it's the way of the world nowadays that the future is sold for immediate profit. Take a lump sum now and generations to come pay through lower returns as profits get bled out to private companies.

They'll be crying about this in 20 years time but unfortunately not now.

I would love to see EUFA stick two fingers up and just get on with a European National Competition. Some of the continental strays could be persuaded to join, given the right incentives… not just cash in the pockets of dubious minor nationals. As mentioned above, comparing to Eurovision, non-European associations could be invited, particularly those either with a European diaspora, like Canada, Australia, etc. or a European-facing, like in the Maghreb.

Keeping it honest will always be a challenge but there’s a better chance of that in Europe than anywhere else in the world.

They say the WC can't be treated as an 'investment product'. The truth is though, it has been for a while now. The WC in Qatar certainly wasn't put there for the good of football, footballers or fans.

UEFA and Concacaf would be enough to make it entertainingly spicy ... the non-USaian Conmebol (and possibly a couple of AFC nations such as Japan, South Korea and Australia) would merely be a cherry on top

UEFA was already getting (rightly) wound up by the drinks / advert breaks and 30 minute halftime that it has stirred them into some kind of action over this. This is going to be a massive showdown between the two of them . Who will win?

The current disagreement could be made permanent if the ‘rump’ FIFA organisation tinkers with or dispenses with IFAB for rule-making. Is the rugby league / rugby union split in 1895 an indicator of what could happen to football if there is a split?

Disenfranchise FIFA and invite in their place a phoenix organisation, supported by opponents of Infantino, but make sure that some sort of Magna Carta clearly delineating what can/can't be done is enforced.

Yeah….but their vote (or winning the WC) is irrelevant, when there is no vote, or it’s a vote in an association with only tinpot nations left in it.
Their choice, in Edmundo’s scenario, would be sign up and play against all the best teams in the world, or don’t and play a handful of nobodies, in front of nobody.

That means the "anti's" now have 96 votes. Only need another 10 votes from somewhere to establish a majority (of the 211) and bury this officially.

Followed by Infantino? Unless, of course he withdraws his scheme before it goes to a vote, and just lies low for a bit.
