A proper no.6, none of this getting forward/box-to-box lark. Lots of followers too so a credible source. Not sure how he would fit in with Yarmo, Sangare & Janelt also competing for the deeper midfield roles.

You'd imagine this was one of the alternative options we were considering if the Sangare deal hadn't come off. Or maybe Sangare was the alternative to this chap. Either way the report is backwards looking - it's picking up on a bid that was made, refused and which we've presumably moved on from.

As others have said, this seems an unlikely/difficult one. Article seems to suggest though that Curtis Jones arrival there could possibly influence things:

"Jones, in fact, would find his way to Milan more easily if Stankovic, for example, were to leave, but if this, as mentioned, is a summer in which Aleks is unlikely to leave the Nerazzurri, it becomes equally difficult to break this impasse."

He’s played in their pre-season friendlies and got a lot of praise from his manager… this must be regurgitated history as we’re not going to buy another defensive midfielder now.

Inter activated a buy back clause from Club Brugge reported as €23M. Seems like a win for them with reported interest at a much higher fee, they wouldn't be the first club to flip a player transfer quickly. Alternatively if transfer interest doesn't result in a transfer they have a player who must have improved in his full season in the Belgium league playing 39 games plus 10 Champions League games to warrant regular game time with Inter.

Lots of deals these days where clubs exercise a cheap buy back only to sell them on again. Seems unlikely we'd spend big on another midfielder just yet - though we've been after this guy a few times so the interest is definitely there. Been reported previously he's said no to us before though so I think super unlikely.

If he did say NO to us then fair enough he don't want in , so we move quickly on to someone of quality that buys into our way.

Can’t see this personally and I think we are well stock in midfield now. We have at least 2 players per midfield slot now adding an extra seem rather pointless. Only reason I can see us bidding for him now is that’s it’s our only chance to sign him and we’ve been tracking him for assuming a number of years

Bruges must be one of the top talent developers around (except us of course). Stankovic, Jashari, Tzolis, De Cuyper, Talbi, Nusa, Skov Olsen not to mention Thiago and Furo have all come through there and been sold in the last 3 years

I don't know if we were/are actually in for this player, but we have a history of pursuing our targets over several windows. I therefore conclude that PG is rarely put off by a refusal to deal.
