Kevin's been with us long enough to know the vision, we don't have to sell him anything IMHO. If he wants out, then I'd gladly see him go, but I don't believe this is the case.

Please explain why you care about the amount we get for him? It's not your money and we're not skint. So if it's £30 mill, £50 mill or £60 mill what difference does it really make?

It drives me mad when people go on about the money. If we had PSR issues then I get it. But speculating over how much we'll get for one of our players is pointless as the club have said they'll buy any player that is deemed right for the team, so we're clearly not relying on any profit from the sale of Kevin. Surely we'd much rather he stay and reach the massive potential he has. In his best form I'm not sure there are many better. Hopefully KA can unlock that potential this season.

Off topic but the idea of some sort of hypothecation of a specific sale to a specific buy is failing to understand how the Club operates.
What a strange post. Just because the club’s not skint doesn’t mean extracting as many millions as possible from a sale doesn’t make an important difference financially.
I haven't once suggested that the club shouldn't extract as much as possible from a buying club. That's what PG does and there's no one better. But caring about how much the club gets for a player is ridiculous. The club have an amount that they're prepared to pay for a player, they've said this many times. The fact that we got an extra £10 mill for KS if we did sell wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference to how much we spend on a replacement. That's why we're as successful as we are in the player market, but people still don't seem to get it.
Something to talk about though, it's not unusual.
Far from unusual mate, it happens way too much in my opinion. When people say I'll drive him there for that extra £5 mill or whatever it just does my head in. It's like it's money about to hit their bank account.
Of course the more we sell a player for the more we can spend on a replacement - as @TOXIC BEE said in the message you replied to. We probably have a target price in mind for every player but we can aim for a higher calibre of player with more money in the bank. Whether it's the club's strategy or not it's also the foundation of PSR and its replacement.
I get the reason they do it, but it's so blinkered, particularly as Brentford fans, as we know there's much much more to it than just what we get for a player. I'll use Mark Flekken as an example. Statistically he'd just had his best season in the Premier League and was certainly in the top 6 in terms of stats for saves and strangely, assists. We sold him for €2 million less than we paid for him. Lots of people at the time questioned why, but now we know that that smoothed the way for us to get Kelleher in, arguably a better keeper overall, and it also showed the other squad players that as long as the deal we get suits us we won't stand in their way of getting a good deal for themselves.
i agree transfer business is a complex picture and we as fans don't know the full picture. But if you only want meaningful factual discussion you'll find slim pickings in transfer rumours thread.
