Facts change.
I, for one, would be delighted if he stayed for many more years. The “drive him there myself” brigade, less so ;)
Not sure who’s happy if he leaves in January or next summer?

Nobody outside the premier league can really afford half decent fees now. Apart from the very big clubs who are looking above Kevin, with all due respect
Apart from the Saudi clubs that are for the time being throwing silly money for some players.

It seems a logical point at which to stop posting on this thread...

… wait a minute… what've I just done?

The very thing that we all promise ourselves that we won’t!

Now, if KS were to read this thread, he’d be pretty confused on what we think….

I'm sure we have opportunity to sell our vision to Kevin and his agent.

The increase in spending and wages may shift us more to his liking.

He may simply want a different challenge however.

Kevin's been with us long enough to know the vision, we don't have to sell him anything IMHO. If he wants out, then I'd gladly see him go, but I don't believe this is the case.

I'm really liking our squad right now Inc. Kev.

I'd love him to stay but appreciate how our model operates 🤞

Our interest in El Mala does highlight how much it would likely cost to replace and improve.

Yes pls Saudi. Happy with 60m if he don't want to stay and we don't think his potential is going to be fully reached.

Please explain why you care about the amount we get for him? It's not your money and we're not skint. So if it's £30 mill, £50 mill or £60 mill what difference does it really make?

It drives me mad when people go on about the money. If we had PSR issues then I get it. But speculating over how much we'll get for one of our players is pointless as the club have said they'll buy any player that is deemed right for the team, so we're clearly not relying on any profit from the sale of Kevin. Surely we'd much rather he stay and reach the massive potential he has. In his best form I'm not sure there are many better. Hopefully KA can unlock that potential this season.

Off topic but the idea of some sort of hypothecation of a specific sale to a specific buy is failing to understand how the Club operates.

What a strange post. Just because the club’s not skint doesn’t mean extracting as many millions as possible from a sale doesn’t make an important difference financially.

Do you think we’d have been in a position to pay around £40m each for Sangaré and Ouattara if we’d let Bryan go for just £45m, or Wissa for £25m?

Of course if Schade goes people should be interested in how much we get for him, unless of course you don’t care about the quality of replacement we’d be looking at…

I haven't once suggested that the club shouldn't extract as much as possible from a buying club. That's what PG does and there's no one better. But caring about how much the club gets for a player is ridiculous. The club have an amount that they're prepared to pay for a player, they've said this many times. The fact that we got an extra £10 mill for KS if we did sell wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference to how much we spend on a replacement. That's why we're as successful as we are in the player market, but people still don't seem to get it.

Something to talk about though, it's not unusual.

Far from unusual mate, it happens way too much in my opinion. When people say I'll drive him there for that extra £5 mill or whatever it just does my head in. It's like it's money about to hit their bank account.

Of course the more we sell a player for the more we can spend on a replacement - as @TOXIC BEE said in the message you replied to. We probably have a target price in mind for every player but we can aim for a higher calibre of player with more money in the bank. Whether it's the club's strategy or not it's also the foundation of PSR and its replacement.

I agree people can seem a bit too emotional about it - like someone's low-balled them on the sale of the house that they built with their own two hands!!

The discourse is all part of the pride and oneupmanship of your club's status vs someone else's surely (we "won" the Wissa sale because Newcastle was desperate and we were smart, we "lost" the Archie Gray deal because we were opportunists but a bigger fish came along, and so on) it's just also just a crude way of rating that player (how good is Thiago? well I wouldn't sell him for £70m that's for sure). It is a bit OTT at times but it's all part of transfer discussion.

I get the reason they do it, but it's so blinkered, particularly as Brentford fans, as we know there's much much more to it than just what we get for a player. I'll use Mark Flekken as an example. Statistically he'd just had his best season in the Premier League and was certainly in the top 6 in terms of stats for saves and strangely, assists. We sold him for €2 million less than we paid for him. Lots of people at the time questioned why, but now we know that that smoothed the way for us to get Kelleher in, arguably a better keeper overall, and it also showed the other squad players that as long as the deal we get suits us we won't stand in their way of getting a good deal for themselves.

It really is pointless going on about how much money we sell a player for unless 1) you know the full details of the deal and why that fee's been agreed or 2) you don't trust PG and think you're better at his job because you just got Orient to the Champions League Final in Football Manager.

i agree transfer business is a complex picture and we as fans don't know the full picture. But if you only want meaningful factual discussion you'll find slim pickings in transfer rumours thread.
See my post #228…
Yes, in referencing Toxic Bee's post 229 I could also have pointed to post 228 making a similar point.

If he goes our wing options are Ouattara, Anthony, KLP, Nunes or an attacking midfielder played out of position. Would need a replacement in who offers pace in behind if he went, that's a very ball-to-feet heavy group

Yeah, keep Kev or we need to sign and a good "un

Then he signs a new contract and we all light a cigar
Not me. Tolerate cigarettes , used to "smoke stuff" in my music days, but hate cigars with a vengeance! Even hypothetical figure of speech cigars!!

The cigar seems to have become a reference for "done deal" around here a bit... blame Banana.
Feel free to have figurative pint instead if it happens. Or a vape.

Kevin Schade (Roma + Saudi Arabia links)

I think of it than fans are 'invested' in their club especially one that has been on hard times etc and just like hearing your old mum is thinking of buying a new car and whilst it's her decision and she can afford it you still feel you want to go with her to pick one and have a look over it and encourage her to spend wisely?

Agree how odd. We want to get as much cash for Kevin as possible if we sell i
Him that’s just bleedin obvious

Kevin Schade (Roma + Saudi Arabia links)

We should do our best to keep him. There are a lot of tools in his kit bag which we would find hard to replace.Keith knows the assets he stands to lose. More to come from Schade.

Our out ball is often high and wide not down the middle for Schade head, that’s his big difference between him and other options, although Furo may well be developing for a similar role

That was the exact tactic that was sooo successful a few years back ..Benstead long high ball out to Gayle, the tall left-winger's header inside to Deano/Blisset .... and another goal.:ROFLMAO: COYB's :hat:
