Decent game. Wincanton started in quite a weak manner and went two down in the first half. Largely new players. Rallied in the second half and Keynsham defended well.
Not sure how many there - I reckon about 100.

Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Creasey Park, Dunstable
Att - 451 (very good for a Dunstable team)
Aways - 12-15

Atmos - dire, 5 young chavs made a piss poor effort at winding up the away gk who laughed in their faces
Admission - £9 geezers, £1 U16s, £6 concessions. Previously a discount was offered to EPL & EFL season ticket holders but didnt see any mention of it. Happy to pay full price to help them while they are starting out anyway.
Programme - £3. Got one as it was Dunstable's first ever game and looks ok but haven't read it in depth yet, mainly adverts across the 10 or 12 pages iirc.
Beverages - slight improvement since my last visit, with Estrella Damm added to the yukky Angelo Poretti and Girlsberg. Somersbys also on tap for alcoholic apple juice fans, Guinness is from a can only, also an IPA on tap. Pre-game all draught was £3 a pint, I had a brace of Estrella which went down nicely. They were pissing about changing barrels when I went at half time so I purchased a pair of Somersbys to see me through the 2nd half, £5 a pint still most agreeable and I do love that cider.
Food - available but didnt clock prices, someones chips and curry sauce caught my mates eye favourably.

Dunstable FC's first league game since AFC Dunstable and Dunstable Town merged, an enjoyable evening's entertainment. The bad guys took a 2nd minute lead from a free kick the Dunny keeper should have done better with. Plenty of niggling fouls and full blooded tackles followed, officials barely managed to keep a lid on it. Good guys equalised from a second half corner to claim their first ever league point. Ex-BFC junior Mark Osei played for Welwyn and looked ok for the level until going off injured around the hour mark.
I dont think DFC will challenge at the top but they've got a large squad if the programme list was correct so maybe they'll find a winning formula. Strange atmos when leaving the ground as many seemed annoyed DFC hadn't destroyed the oppo, weird when both Dunstable teams struggled in their respective leagues last season. I enjoyed my evening though and the local insects seem to have enjoyed eating my legs. Hopefully I'll get the chance to visit a couple more times as the season goes on

Barnet 1 v 1 Bromley 1 August 2026
No idea of entry cost as got in free on a mate's mate's season ticket.
Didn't avail myself of any facilities so don't know food and drink prices.
No chaps.
Not a great standard, lots of missed opportunities.
Barnet scored first through a penalty, Bromley equalised, all first half.
Matt Cox played whole game for Barnet. Made three good saves and distribution was good, nearly leading to a goal on one occasion but was at fault for the Bromley goal as anticipated a cross to his right when instead the Bromley player smacked it into his top left corner.
Nice to get back to watching live football again.

Romanian [Not So] Superliga GW3 21:30 kickoff
CS Universitatea Craiova 4 - 0 FC Petrolul Ploiești
Admission: 76.50lei [£12.50] Inc. booking fee for equivalent of halfway North Stand. Cheapest ticket 40.00lei [£6.50]
Beer: 10.00lei [£1.65 not a typo] for 0.4L draught Tuborg. No other options
Food: Cinema fare apart from 1 hot food stall. Hot dog 12.00lei [£2.00] (13.00 [£2.15] with onions). 15.00lei [£2.45] baguette sandwich.
Attendance: An embarrassing 9,502 in a 31,000 capacity stadium.
Chaps: Spotted 4-5 gents who looked like a post credits scene from Phoenix Nights. Other than that it’s „Ultras” (with drums) or mainly knock off Nike, Adidas & Puma gear.
Aways: 80-100 but loud throughout. A 15 fans to drum ratio.
Craiova are last season’s Romanian champions but got humbled by Dinamo Bucharest 5-1 in GW2 and followed that up by being dumped out of the Champions League qualifiers in the week at home to Levski Sofia. Ploiești, home to the world's first large-scale oil refinery, finished 12th last season. Judging by this evening’s showing the 4 teams below them must have been playing a different sport.
Game felt like playing Reading at the Medejski when the whole crowd could have been accommodated in one stand. On a slightly political note. A Brexit benefit is that the UK no longer contributes to building stadiums in Eastern European countries for the local contractors to get rich by swindle on concrete, sand & steel. They can’t half-fill this stadium and they’re already building another one 500m away.
Despite the late kick-off, it was still 25°C at the start and it showed with Ploiești still seemingly having a siesta as the game got underway. Craiova took the lead after 43 seconds as Steven Nsimba, who could do a job for Cambridge in League 1 nipping in between defender and keeper to tap home.
Nsimba doubled Craiova’s lead on 23mins with a nearly worked goal but at this point Ploiești looked like they’d struggle on a Sunday morning in Gunnersbury Park. To be fair the Ploiești fans were still having a great time with flares and fire crackers, despite getting pumped.
Nsimba went off at halftime but Baiaram added a 3rd soon after the break and Craiova played out the rest of the half in complete dominance and added a 4th through Elisor who finished nearly by chipping over the keeper when played through. At the death, Ploiești almost scored a consolation but that seemed more to do with Craiova making 5 changes, with one eye on getting knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.

There was a football game but didn't really pay much attention to it. We couldn't be bothered to travel down to Weston on a Friday night in Summer to watch the Gloucester game so did this instead

Pre season friendly.
Broadbridge Heath (1)3 Walthamstow (0)2.
£5 to get in.
£6 inchs Cider.
£4 burger and 1.50 a coffee.
Charge count ? me and my Milwall mate and i suppose i should count a BHA and a Putney (FFC) lad i know from the Clem Attlee Estate.
Very warm half one kick off in the blazing West Sussex sunshine as we welcomed Walthamstow from E.17 in a very late arranged game.
Wokingham were the opposition of choice,but pulled out and Marlow said we will and then decided not to travel i was told.
So the Stow came and gave BBH a very good game.
A good even first half saw BBH take the lead ,but Stow created a few chances that needed a decent finish.
In the second half BBH west 2 up and then the flurry of rolling subs came and then Stow pulled a goal back.
It has to be said it was a lovely individual goal .The lad picks the ball up from a crap pass and has his back to goal at a 45'angle on the edge of the Box.With a defender jockeying him he drops his shoulder to his right,feigns the movement and then whips the ball to the far post with his right foot and into the bottom corner.
No one moved and it was a case of wtf ? How did he get that in ?.
Stow then equalise.
2 each.
What happened after that was something you never want to see on a football pitch.
Our left back recieves the ball and side steps the opposing players who is closing him down and looks to put in a tackle right on the half way line close to the touch line.
Right in front of me really.
I saw the Stow players face contort and then came the scream as he hit the deck and writhed around in agony.The ref blows and on comes our physio.
The lad was in a lot of pain and a stretcher was call for.
Our Physio did some quick tests on him and ascertained ACL had gone.
The players would not get on the board and was helped up onto his feet to go to the dressing room where his girlfriend was waiting for him
(fit as fck she was/is).
I wish the fella well in his recovery.
BBH then grab a 3rd and the winner.
Game over and an impressive pre season for BBH.
7 games 5 wins 2 draws 10 goals scored 5 conceded.
AFC Greenwich Borough in the FA Cup next week.
Looking forward to it.

Folkestone Invicta 2-0 Welling United
Sid Burvill Trophy. A traditional last pre-season friendly between Folkestone and another played each season in memory of a gateman who died some while back.
Attendance wasn't announced but looked about 300, probably about 50 Welling fans.
With regards chaps, there were definitely a few geezers amongst the Welling lot but either retired chaps or saving their chapdom for non-friendly encounters.
Some seriously odd haircuts and body shapes on show both in Folkestone itself as well as in the ground. Quite a few blokes in button up short sleeved shirts matched with shorts a tad too small for them (either it's fashion or they were wearing last year's summer casuals).
Game was played at a good pace with some full-bloodied challenges. Folkestone were probably stronger and better on the day and deserved the win ahead of their game next week against Walton & Hersham in National League South.
I didn't sample any of the food or drink on offer so no info. on prices.
£8.00 to get in.
Nice stadium though the terraces and main stand are all some way back from the edge of the pitch.

Food: Crisps and snacks, not sure of pricing as didn't partake.
Result - 2-1
A classic non-league vibe to our first PSF of the season. Training kits being worn by both teams, no cost to entry & a bunch of kids getting game time with the 1st teamers coming on/off as rolling subs.
As our pitch is still bedding in, this was played in a village just outside of Limassol, about 40minutes drive from our home ground. A really lovely place, with a few beers had pre-match & then went to a local tavern with Mrs Patto for dinner.
The game was as expected, but our new players look to be settling in well, with some lovely football played at times. Not much to read into things though, minutes for the lads as they start to work towards the start of the season on 12 September.

First time I've not taken charge of this opening round fixture at Petersfield in four seasons. Got to sit and take in the game, and found myself sat on the old Griffin Park seats (albeit 'half' of them) in the stand with a few big wigs from the County FA and my match observer for my Bank Holiday game down in sunny Bognor (Who by a bizarre twist of fate, was also my final Match Observer of my promotion season last year... spooky!).
Game was end to end. Referee (newly promoted to that level) just let them kick ten barrels out of each other which made the referees in the crowd wince, the fans demand better and the players angrier - superb spectacle.
Superb save at one end led to a counter attack and then another superb save at the other from the last kick of the game to ensure Petersfield progress into the next round. Romsey were the better side but couldn't finish their dinner.
I did get asked if I wanted to take charge of their next round game v Eversley, but I'm already spoken for for a flag wave. All in all, decent evening out.

Att: can't find it but said was a sell out

So a mate at work is a member of the Bristol Roma fan group, and she had a spare ticket in the away end for this game. As I hadn't done Newport before said "go on then" so we made the short trip down from Gloucester across the water to Wales. There must have been about 20 of the Bristol based Roma group there along with other Roma fans from locations unknown to me.
Couple of pints in The Potters near the bus station before the game (people were doing that new found thing of queuing in a line for a beer which is idiotic but there were some hefty chaps here so I didn't dare break this queuing fad and do it normally) and walked over to the away end. After a good searching we got in about 15mins before kick off
Newport did ok first half and had a few chances before Roma scored. 2nd half, two quick goals after HT for Roma put the game to bed. Newport got one they deserved late on
Roma fans are different gravy to what we have here. Half of them didn't watch the game and just sang songs with a lot of hand gesticulating and pointing. Was good fun to be fair

Att: No given, infact no PA announcements, but head count I did made it less than 100.
No chaps, except one giving the lino grief over every decision he made, who rather than ignore it felt he had to explain them to him.

Bedfont missed two great chances, before they scored, then scored a penalty just before half time, added two more in the second half for a comfortable win.

Att: No given, infact no PA announcements, but head count I did made it less than 100.
No chaps, except one giving the lino grief over every decision he made, who rather than ignore it felt he had to explain them to him.

First game for Farnham at National League South level.
Even game against a well drilled opponent where Farnham probably deserved a draw. Poor finishing meant that the game was very tight - on another day it would have been 3-3.
Stand out player was Sam Hutchinson for Farnham. Centre mid with over 300 professional appearances.
Farnham were in a 4-2-2-2 formation - be interesting to see if this works against the better teams they will face this season.

Gloucester 0 Chertsey 1 bit of a lucky goal that decided this first game of the season which was a pretty boring.Dont think the chertsey keeper had a shot to save all game and they deserved their win.Cant see Daf Williams lasting long never been impressed with him and surprised they gave him a new contract.

Yes there was a bloke near to me who sung the minder theme tune throughout the game and on a side note the ref blew for half time without playing the injury time.
So had to get the players back out to play the remaining 2 minutes

Villa are a very good footballing side. They've had a good core of players over the last few years and add 2 or 3 every season to improve.
The big question is how they will get on on a sticky grass pitch in December in Step 3. Taunton were woeful though.

Travelling supporters about 100 (fair play those who were on the train before 6am)
Chaps: We have a few in our home terrace, who to be fair made a decent amount of noise. Couple of away chaps, but no issues at the game. Their chaps did want the refs blood when he failed to see a hand ball, but such is football.
Cracking day down here in the sun drenched TCS. Maidenhead have a dutch keeper who stands 6ft 7inch , who played his part in both our goals. Relegated from National League back in April, needed to get off to a good start back in National League South, and we did. 2 first half goals, should have been 4 or 5. Maidenhead improved 2nd half for about 20 mins, but we saw the game out for our first league win at home since Boxing day last year.
After the game I had a 10 min chat with Ryan Peters, who took over as manager at Maidenhead from Alan Devonshire. Mentioned that I used to watch him at GP in his younger days, and that we still get up to 5 or 6 games a season. He's a genuinely nice guy, who actually works for the Brentford full time now, while managing MTFC

Chaps - 10 or so Brackley chaps. Didn’t see any from Telford, but they did have a drum!!!!
Brackley have a brand new team this season with only 2 players that were here last season. Every player signed is in the 19 - 22 year old range apart from 2 28 year olds.
Some of the football played was superb, but as to be expected from an inexperienced team, there is lots to still work on.
0-0 at halftime, but within 10 minutes of the restart, Brackley were 2 up. Hit the post and the bar and could have been out of sight. Conceded in injury time to make for a nervous last couple of minutes, but deservedly took home the 3 points.
Good first game, and things can only get better.

Fleet Town v Melksham - FA Cup Extra Prelim
Attendance: 400 odd

Beer: £6 with food
Step 4 Melksham got lucky with their 1-0 win. A shot on goal which flicked up off of a divot to outfox the keeper before Step 5 Fleet hammered them. The ball went everywhere but the goal itself and Melksham knew they got lucky. Fleet manager fuming about something at Half Time that literally didn't happen, Assistant Referees were both young lads, and both sublime, Fleet had a proper barbecue situation going so it smelt fantastic all game. Really good crowd, Fleet desperately unlucky. Great game of football.

A good game this. Proper local league level Assistant Referees getting called up for their FA Cup debut (one of which we weren't sure would make it in time for the 2pm kick off due to suddenly needing to do a fitness test first thing) so I had my own kit in the car with me just in case they didn't arrive. Mate of mine in the middle so went with him. Wick went a goal up very early on but Camberley fought back and eventually won it 3-1. Two goals disallowed for offside (correctly), two yellows in two minutes for the same player (wally) and a good day out had.

A decent pint of craft beer in Ryries bar beforehand for £6.50 a pint and afterwards in the Roseburn bar (my local)
Better quality match than I expected. Probably close to a top of the Championship level team.
DUFC had a lot of possession early doors but Hearts scored with their first attack after 5 minutes. Superb finish from 18 yards.
A penalty 5 minutes later and the match was effectively over.

Two more well worked goals with great finishes.

Decent game with Hajduk looking neat and tidy but lacking a cutting edge. They took the lead on 15 mins when their US/Lithuanian number 10 Pukštas (smallest bloke on the pitch) scored with a header from a corner. Despite hitting the side netting Hajduk couldn’t make their superiority count and Istra equalised just before HT with a deflected free kick.
Hajduk ran out of ideas a bit in the second half and a triple change on 55 mins didn’t do much to change that. Istra looked increasingly threatening on the break and hit the bar. It looked like Hajduk had won it when the rather portly looking ex Croatia international Marko Livaja turned in a rebound with 5 mins left, looking offside to the baked eye but not According to VAR. However just like in the first half Istra snatched a late equaliser in the last of 5 mins added.
The 21 yr old Pukštas was lively all game for Hajduk, bit of a Damsgaard type player. From Oklahoma but spent some time in an overseas Academy Barca set up in the States. Also impressed with Canadian international no 8 Niko Sigur and particularly the 23 yr old holding midfielder Adrion Pajaziti who mopped up well and got out of tight spaces with some neat turns and good passing. Ticket: €15 for me, €12 for my old man in their East stand (equivalent of our North)
Raggazi: some Lazio Ultras by one of the corner flags made all the noise, shouting naughty Italian words
Food and drink: N/A. Went for a beer 5 mins before HT but aborted as there was one window with 2 people serving the whole East Stand (see pic below)
Frosinone are basically the Norwich City of Italian football (play in yellow and also nicknamed "the Canaries"). I was supporting them as the home team, as well as my dislike of Lazio and because my grandad's village is in this province... But the matchday experience had me adding them to the s**tlist.
The stadia is poor. It looks like it's stuck in the 80s with bare bone facilities. Might be this region's Selhurst Park, just without the obstructed view. What's worse is they way they operate it. The entry after kick off, the concessions and the crowd control after the game that had us walk around most of the stadium because they locked access to many roads even for pedestrians. It all just seemed devoid of any real logic.
The game itself was slow and lacked quality. Frosinone took an early lead then Lazio looked much the better team for most of the game, winning it with a late penalty after squandering good chances throughout.
Cancellieri, whom we were linked with last year, was probably the best player on the pitch for the hour or so he played. He ran his fullback ragged, put in some decent crosses and seemed to be their main outlet for creativity. He did miss a big chance off of a header in the first half but I have a feeling Gattuso rates him more than his previous coach. I don't think we're really missing out.

Had no idea we had an American player in the Croatian HNL. This made my day. Another young player to hopefully see improvement in before next world cup. Curious as to how he was the smallest? Skinny/no muscle? He’s 5’11 per fotmob which was the same size as the rest of the midfield and doesnt seem small in general. Maybe he needs a better strength and conditioning program.

Played at Honeycroft, Uxbridge FC.
(L'ton escaped relegation last season, if this is anything to go on they won't be so lucky this time around.)
Att: 132 (10-15 from L'ton, 1 chappy looking chap, the rest f***ed off after the Vase Final defeat. Atleast 3 Bees, who don't really do PSF.)
Entrance fee: £8, card or cash, luckily I had cash on me, as the machine couldn't get a WiFi connection.
Cheeseburger with onions( and no cheese) £4.50.
Bottle of Dr Pepper £1.50.
Southall deserved winners, their approach play was good in the first half, but none of their crosses could find anyone in the box. It took a mistake from a visiting defender, no surprise there, to gift the home side the opener, which was cancelled out within a couple of minutes.
Littlehampton had some great chances, the Southall keeper made some good saves, which led to about six corners.
Southall dominated the second half, and it was only a matter of time before they scored two more.
L'ton keeper, despite letting in three goals was probably their MoM.
