On my final warning
Benji Arthur (on loan to Portsmouth)
This guy will be starting some games for us next season. Absolutely no question.

He wasn’t.Know nothing at all about today’s game yet (my in-laws will no doubt update me soon enough) but hope/assume he was not complicit in the result?
I remember the quote. While MacAnthony is ‘loud’ he generally speaks logically.I remember the Peterborough owner, predicting that Arthur will be England CB within 5 years or something and couldn’t have sold him to a better club to achieve that
Sounds like Leon LeggeI watched him today and a few times previously. He was OK. I had been a bit worried about his technical level but today he was fairly reliable on the ball on a horrid pitch. He is big and wins a lot in the air without being particularly mobile; he is almost too big. I am not seeing a guaranteed future England player by any stretch but definitely not ruling out him playing a role for us. I think all comments from the Peterborough owner should be taken with a tumbler of salt.
Hadn’t been in squad for a few weeks. Assume injuredWhere is he today?
He was wearing one during the trophy liftMedal?
I think if pinnock goes for one last money move then Fredrick Ji-Soo and Arthur are in direct competition this pre-season for 5th choice CB, and the other 2 will go out on loan. If Pinnock sees out his contract all 3 probably go out on loan. Unless of course one wows so much that they're preferred to Pinnock or SchusterCurious what this season will look like for him given Benjamin Fredrick’s promotion and the signing of Schuster. I’ll admit I’m not knowledgeable on who of the bunch plays right and left centerback, but does seem like there is some competition.
Celtic fans seemed very happy with him during his short spell
Presumably the injured CB being SvdBSpoke to one of my mates at watford- He said that Arthur was close to joining them on loan before we pulled out after a training ground injury to one of our other CB’s.
we apparently viewed Arthur as the next best cover for him.
With that being the case, the idea of Benji being the next best cover could mean we see a lot of him this season.Presumably the injured CB being SvdB
Agree. I can see him starting a few games for us this year. With that being the case, the idea of Benji being the next best cover could mean we see a lot of him this season.
Imagine he will start against Birmingham in cup, probably with either Schuster or Pinnock?Agree. I can see him starting a few games for us this year.
I think we’ll need one ‘senior’ player alongside any younger one.Imagine he will start against Birmingham in cup, probably with either Schuster or Pinnock?
As in, ahead of Schuster and Pinnock?we apparently viewed Arthur as the next best cover for him.
Obviously not…we apparently viewed Arthur as the next best cover for him.
My thoughts too Les. Not sure about this but we have an abundance of CBs.A bit surprised by this (maybe even disappointed), I read that as either Pinnock staying or Schuster ahead of him.
Ok, so at 20 I'll go along with that but there's got to be a point where he is considered good enough to push for a place. What he needs now is regular playing time. He might be useful for us to have on the bench but it will be at the cost of his development. Good luck to him.

VDB was being loaned out by Liverpool at same age to Championship club, worked well for him.Ok, so at 20 I'll go along with that but there's got to be a point where he is considered good enough to push for a place.
I think Schuster being ahead of him is to be expected really. Obviously he’s only 20, but we didn’t pay >£15m for him to be 5th/6th choice.A bit surprised by this (maybe even disappointed), I read this as either Pinnock staying or Schuster ahead of him.
Jannick on the streets of LondonMy thoughts too Les. Not sure about this but we have an abundance of CBs.

Posted before Portsmouth have spent big this summer. Are considered to be play off contenders. He will be in a team that is trying to play football, not a low block each week.My thoughts too Les. Not sure about this but we have an abundance of CBs.

Id be happy with whoever the club thinks is the best for us to play and be on the benchI think Schuster being ahead of him is to be expected really. Obviously he’s only 20, but we didn’t pay >£15m for him to be 5th/6th choice.
I’d prefer to see Benji playing over Pinnock, but once Sepp is back that’ll be Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer, Schuster ahead of the 2 of them. I think Benji being sent out on loan probably highlights that we value him far more going forward than Pinnock, because whoever’s 5th or 6th choice centre back in a team that plays a back 4 will barely get a minute. Pinnock at his age may be okay with a season of that before going on a free next season, Benji needs game time.
Can't imagine we'd send him somewhere to play right back.Been given the #2 shirt, which might indicate that he's a starting option (albeit at right back maybe?).
Well it's more of a joke, #2 being traditionally the RB's number. The old 1-11 numbering has gone out the window now (eg. Marcondes wearing the #9).Can't imagine we'd send him somewhere to play right back.
Or Ji-soo...A bit surprised by this (maybe even disappointed), I read this as either Pinnock staying or Schuster ahead of him.

I see what you did there - was very impressive when he had to go in goal....Gets to continue his development with former Bees goalkeeper John Mousinho![]()
