Top 100 Leagues in the World
Much of it instinctively feels about right. Slightly odd though that the Eredivisie sits 10 places behind the Jupiler League. And is League 2 really very significantly inferior to the League of Ireland and the Bosnian league?

Why is Serie B (ITA) in twice at 36 and 66?? I assume the second one should be Serie C.

Interesting to how it aligns with the most attended leagues in the world (2024 data, though I can’t imagine too much has changed).
Top 7 are the same leagues in slightly different order. Then MLS, Mexico, and Bundesliga 2 jump ahead of the rest.

Impressive the Cypriot league is considered better than League One... must have some real talent
Having seen the A League here in person too, i'm surprised it's that high... Juan Mata holding the fort.
Also a bit of a shock that the Zambian league would be considered better than League Two.

Also things like the Portugese league, they are powerful due to just 3 teams, Porto and the Lisbon teams. I believe I read somewhere that they have one every league title since WW2 bar 2.

The table doesn’t show how far apart each place in the table is. There’s probably a much greater difference from 1st to 10th than there is from 10th to 50th, for example.

I saw this recently and thought it's an absolute shambles of a list, but i forget the issues now. Austria being below Czech for example, or Poland being 20 places above both lol. There's loads if you dig in.

Fair enough. The matches I attended 20 years ago seemed to me to be League 2/National League level but I know that it's been professionalised on and off the pitch quite a bit since then and interest in it is growing.

As shown by the considerable improvement in the UEFA coefficient the league has gone through significant change in that time period. It still has a way to come in terms of its facilities and other off pitch areas but it is a league on the rise.

Agreed, especially with the Polish league well above them. I've seen two Polish games in 10 years or so therefore feel well qualified to say its rubbish.

Last season it was one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, as mentioned on the BBC Sport website. While Lech Poznań, Legia Warszawa and before that Wisła Kraków have had spells of dominance, there have been 9 different Champions in the past 20 years.
Certainly doesn’t mean the quality is any good, as demonstrated by Polish clubs being absolute turd in Champions & Europa League qualifying this season.
