Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent transfer to Coventry City for an undisclosed fee. The Nigeria midfielder initially joined Frank Lampard’s side on loan in February, helping the Sky Blues win the Championship title and secure a Premier League return.

A good player who never quite did the good things consistently enough. A shame as he looked like he’d dominate the PL in the early days of our first PL season.

A player who couldn't control the ball let alone pass. How he stayed on our books so long is beyond be. He looked totally lost on the pitch. I went to man city for his wonder game and couldn't work out why people went overboard about him. Came across as a nice bloke though!

seemed like a good bloke, usually tried pretty hard, but was quite hopeless most of the time. Not sure how we got this one wrong, but hope it works out for him.

Quite an amusing vid doing the rounds on instagram where a linesman and Frank barge into each other on the touchline and Frank has to be held back by team mates. It's a bit handbags but I've no idea what sparked it or how it ended.

Didn't realise that was frank. Looked like they were warming up right on the edge of the pitch getting in the way of the lino, so abit of a dick move from what I saw

Yep, agreed. Watched it back and he looks like he's dropped a bit of weight, but definitely him. And definitely the players acting up rather than the lino being out of order in my opinion.

Linesman was a bit of a dick but ffs how difficult is it to give the man some space to do his job.

Looks like the linesman could see what he was doing but Frank was looking the other way so was surprised to be barged. Lino a complete dick IMHO.

What were the players doing warming up along that line anyway? At pretty much every level of football for as long as I can remember, players warm up in the opposite half to the lino on on the bench side, eg at the Gtech in front of the South Stand between halfway and the west end of the ground.

IMO fault is with Frank. He’s literally walking on line. The line belongs to the assistant and whether Frank was looking or not he should have found somewhere else to be.

Probably because the oppo were using that end for their own warm-up. Also would involve crossing opposition bench which might not be such a good idea.

Talking about how in the coming season they will manage teams that sit back . Not sure that will be thrir biggest concern or their self professed ability to ‘overwhelm teams’.

The idea of them maybe ditching a system with two defensive midfielders and only playing one against the lesser teams seems pretty optimistic and naïve. We had Norgaard and Janelt playing that double pivot for the whole first season. Imagine giving that job to Frank Onyeka alone, alongside Matt Grimes! I imagine the other Frank might be too sensible to be so open though.

Not much fun for anyone 6 years ago, Covid was in its throes and we'd just lost the Championship play-off final to Fulham.
He made his debut for us in the Arsenal game 5 years ago.

Shame for Frank, he could not keep up withe pace of the game. Best personified by there 3rd goal when Rice nipped the ball as he tried to intercept which led to the 3rd goal.

I kept my eye on him throughout. Unfortunately, he was hardly involved at all. I must admit that I found the game so dull that I switched over to ‘Would I lie to you?’ at the start of the 2nd half. (Rob Brydon hasn’t aged well!). I did switch back to the game in due course. Still as dull as ditchwater.

Looked like the Frank we all know and love, lots of energy running around like a headless chicken, unable to keep the ball, not making any noticeable difference on the game. Its going to be a long season for them.

TBF there was no Coventry press going on, the midfield is gonna get passed around in that situation. He also seemed to be playing wide mid as well.

I was at the game, and it just made me so glad I dont support a big team. Its a decent ground and they made a good noise, but the hassle of getting there and back, and because they win most games it felt 'transactional'

I was in the equivalent of the North Stand (where my seat is at the GTech), and tbf they had a greater portion joining in than we do.

I fell asleep half way through the second half.
