Ezri Konsa (Arsenal)
Saliba must be expected to be out longer than first thought.
There's a very nice sell-on. Nothing goes to Charlton either.Yes another one unclear if there is a sell on.
51m deal apparently. There's a very nice sell-on. Nothing goes to Charlton either.
You gotta love a tidy sell on!51m deal apparently.
So 51-9=42. That’s a nice £8m or £9m into the “nice surprises” line in the budget.51m deal apparently.
makes it doubly goodThere's a very nice sell-on. Nothing goes to Charlton either.
Thought we sold him for £12m.So 51-9=42. That’s a nice £8m or £9m into the “nice surprises” line in the budget.
Great work. You just knocked off 500k from Giles’s budgetThought we sold him for £12m.
He probably knew I guess.Great work. You just knocked off 500k from Giles’s budget![]()
Is there defo a sell on AI (i know unreliable) saying £12m trigger = no add ons.

I would be amazed if we didn’t have a sell on. We sold him after 1 season so I suspect it was on our terms (and so a sell on part of the deal). So we could be getting close to £20m for a player we bought for £1.8m and had for 1 season….. incredible business. Is there an AI equivalent of ‘trust me bro’?
You're not wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong but when we sold him to Villa I believe we had either already bought out Charlton's sell-on clause or given their financial plight there was not one included in that deal.
Will be a surprise unplanned and unbudgeted windfall as was Norgaard leaving last summer, well from a cash/profit perspective. You're not wrong.

I seem to recall, and I could very well be wrong here, but didn't Villa trigger a transfer release clause and we reluctantly had to agree to the sale? I thought Konsa's forced sale was one of the main drivers behind the club being unwilling to include transfer release clauses in our contracts from then on (why voluntarily limit your upside etc.). Of course, that doesn't preclude the release clause having a sell-on percentage.
Looks like a tidy sum we'llbe getting as a nice surprise, and could increase too if Watkins goes!
Yep. And I don’t even like him when he played for us and can’t fecking stand him now.We wouldn't have been able to sign him without a release clause, why else would anyone include one. We made about £10m in a year and upgraded our defence as a result so I doubt we were too traumatised by how it turned out.

He’s a strange one. Normally you’d see a player who ended up being a future England international and look back at their time with us fondly…… but I just remember feeling fairly ambivalent towards him and always felt that he was also largely ambivalent towards us.Yep. And I don’t even like him when he played for us and can’t fecking stand him now.
Yep, many players know that they’re just passing through - and as fans we’ll know that too - but he made zero attempt to hide it.He’s a strange one. Same as Watkins, expired in September 2025.Villa fan in peace, there isn’t a sell on clause guys 100 percent. Villa activated his transfer fee and even though there WAS a sell on clause that expired in 2024.

I'm often amazed at the two great careers both Big Ears and Konsa have had since their short stints at Brentford.
They have both played at a consistent and high level high level with.
I thought if a release clause is met then the player is sold without need for further negotiation. Why would Villa then agree to include a sell on percentage.
Delighted if we do have one.
A post later on saying it expired in 2024 ......will see what the next accounts say.So 51-9=42. That’s a nice £8m or £9m into the “nice surprises” line in the budget.

I’m sure it will be confirmed in a day or two one way or the other anywayThanks for the info but I'll trust the reliable sources on here over you.

You too mate, I look at some of the players that yourselves Brighton, Bournemouth have all sold and all three clubs are now well established in the EPL. In a ideal world all three would be able to compete with freedom.Interesting. Good luck for the season. Villa Park remains a favourite ground for me, especially last season! Proper ground and largely knowledgeable fans
"later" doesn't mean "correct". Why would we have a sell-on clause that expires exactly?A post later on saying it expired in 2024 ......will see what the next accounts say.
At the family day we used to do at GP, all the other players were happy to chat to the kids/pose for photos/sign autographs etc. Not Konsa - he could barely hide his disdain. Sat there slouched back in his chair like a proper billy big bollox, not even looking at the kids as he signed his name. Always disliked him after that. He’s a strange one. Yes!What a return on our original investment from Charlton to sell on £££££ we will get!
Just emphasises what class act our MB and MB are.
