Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Hi all,

Coventry fan in peace.

Few rumours doing the rounds that we’re in for Ethan Pinnock. I know he hasn’t played much recently but was always held in high regard by you. Has anyone heard anything your end and would it be a good signing?

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

He’s not played much in the last couple of seasons, basically because others are younger and have higher ceilings. If EP fancied the challenge, I reckon the club would let him go, and that’s probably fuelled some speculation. He’d be fine for you for a couple of years, preferably with somebody speedy alongside him.
Oh, and he’ll virtually guarantee you 2 or 3 goals from set pieces…

He may prefer to stay though, having done the hard graft to get us to, and keep us in, the PL.

Very good player but has lost a yard of pace. Would be a great signing for you if true.

Doesn’t this just come from that silly swap plus cash suggestion for one of their midfielders we don’t need?
It was in a newspaper article. Can’t remember which.
It was posted on here somewhere.
Torp I think it was.

The Coventry equivalent of the GPG had a post from someone claiming that Ethan is signing for them tomorrow (Thursday). They claim their source has been right about things before. But of course it could be absolute nonsense with it's origin in a garbled version of that same article.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Thanks all for the replies. I know the article you’re referring too and no it’s not from that, might be nothing in it but it’s been doing the rounds on the WhatsApp groups over the last 24 hours.

I would be happy with Pinnock, plenty of premier league experience which is what we’re crying out for. Good luck for the season.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

This is the post and article people are referring to regarding the swap deal, that appears to be the journo hypothesising / fantasising. Doesn’t seem to be much credibility in the Torp side of the transfer but could understand Pinnock going to Coventry.

Signing Onyeka and Pinnock from us would be a sound strategy to bring Premier League experience into the squad, plus excellent character and application. As others have said, Pinnock has been off his own very high standards the last couple of times he’s come into the side. However, he’s far from ever let us down and, who knows, playing regularly could just be the thing he needs to rediscover his very best form.

He is one of the few remaining links to our promotion winning side and is held in incredibly high regard by the Club and supporters. Despite an injury to van den Berg, centre back is a position we’re pretty stacked at and would like to think everyone would wish Pinnock well if he chose to leave in search of more game time, except for when he plays against us.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Would make sense if he is up for the challenge and would go with all of our best wishes. Been an asolute star for us and a big part of our recent journey.
Totally agree.
His experience would help in Coventry's first season back in the 'top flight' after 25 years.
Ethan, should you decide to take that challenge, you will always be part of the Bees current history.
Cheers, 🐝⚽🍺.

No idea about his transfer status, but as others have said already, he's a very very well liked squad member by fans and always comes across as very humble.

He's kinda past his best / behind better players now though.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Sensible signing if it happens for both parties - at his peak he was one of the best defenders in the PL although never got the plaudits because he played for us...

Not the same player now but good enough to do a job at this level for a team looking to stay up in their first season back for a while.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Good signing for player and both clubs, I think. Wonder what the fee would be

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

A humble man and total club legend. There aren't many who have the respect that Ethan has amongst Bees. Very experienced - not necessarily a leader, but such a calm player. Can play with the ball at his feet, always gets a long leg in to block, and for me there is no better defensive header of the ball in the premier league. If you're under pressure at set pieces and need to rely on someone to head it clear, he's your man. Would be sad to see him go but I think this would be a great move for him. One of my favourite players of all time ❤️

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

We are starting the season without VdB, Arthur has gone out on loan, Stephenson not been involved in first team pre-season.

True enough we’ve got Schuster and Fredrick in the building still, but one reading of the pre-season games could be that in both of the “serious” friendlies in front of fans Ethan has been selected ahead of them both.

For those reasons above I’d rate it as unlikely.

Can only endorse what everyone above has said. Top man, top player who won't let you down.
If you can get highlights of our play off victory over Swansea, you'll see how he totally dominated the Swansea attack.
Be sad to see him go as he can still do a job for us. He'd be a great signing for you.

Alternatively, watch any of our first two seasons (not Newcastle away though) where he led our defence brilliantly.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Can’t see it happening with VDB injury.

..and Ajer overdue an injury
This for me may prevent this happening. I love Pinnock and everything he has given to us, on a personal leaning with the heart he deserves a move to be playing week in week out as I still think for a bottom half club he can start. He'll likely cover our injuries and find his place back on the bench.

I
Only reason I mention the play off....re-watched yet again recently. He won everything that day. Totally agree I could have used numerous other examples.👍

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

I don't think we'd deny him the chance of a 2 / 3 year contract for the sake of 3 or 4 games. For all we know SvdB might be responding well to treatment.
Also, maybe if we block this move he'd consider we should extend his contract given how important we obviously see him. We are a club that excels in doing the right thing after all.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Doesn’t he have a son at Fulham? Might not be keen to move to a club outside of London (either uprooting the family or being constantly away commuting)

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Makes my all time Bees Prem 11 but after 7 years probably thought it's about time he has his own song.

When I worked at Gillette just down the road, my mate used to commute from Coventry daily, not that far!

You’ll get a lot more rave reviews about him than the last player you signed from us that’s for sure!

Fantastic servant to the club, but if he wants game time then a move away absolutely makes sense, and will help provide a pathway to the numerous talented young CBs we have. Would be a good move for all parties.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

I think we would prefer to keep him. We seem to like having a more experienced CB in the ranks and there's no question in my mind he can still do a job at this level. As it stands, he's the player we'd bring on against Spurs if either Ajer or Collins got injured.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

How badly injured is Sep. Surely if it's more than a short term injury it would be unwise to sell Ethan right now. If and when he goes I shall wish him all the very best for a successful future and a hall of fame recognition by the club. He's been one of the greatest and most loyal servants I can remember, and that goes back to 1959.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

We’ve not seen anything of Frederick pre season assume he’s still in recovery mode from his long term injury. Unless VDB is back very soon I can’t see us letting him go just now

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

What are Ben Mee and Zanka up to at the moment. 😉

How many league appearances did Pinnock make last season?

im sure he wants to play but not sure if he fancies a relegation dogfight (no offence to Cov)

I am not sure of the validity of this rumour, however, if true there is always the possibility that Pinnock was played to enable Coventry to see him in action.

If he gets offered longer term deal and more realistic chance to play then suspect he’d like the opportunity and wouldn’t begrudge him at all.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

Great player who can still do the business at Prem level. He has been so consistently good that it was easy to take him for granted. An 8 out of ten most weeks. With the trend moving now to set pieces you can rely on Ethan in both boxes. For me no worries if he starts on Saturday. If he goes our loss is your gain.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

As others have said, absolute legend at Brentford. Fantastic defender who has lost a yard of pace but he has been one of the Premier Leagues most underrated Centre Backs. Absolute mountain for us in the first two seasons.

Don't forget that game he came in to start last season and it was like rolling back the years. He's still got it.

When he leaves, he does so with the upmost respect and an incredible amount of gratitude for what he has done and achieved here. He's still got plenty left to give and will bring experience and calmness to a newly promoted side.

Ethan Pinnock (Coventry)

I know he eventually declared for Jamaica but he absolutely would have merited an England call up a few years back. We were just too unfasionable for Southgate at the time
