Can’t see it happening, but wouldn’t be surprised at all if this was true and we have at least had a go.

We obviously always really liked him, and a loan with an option would have little downside - if we help him reach his potential we buy him and have a potential top player on our hands, if he’s rubbish he goes back to Chelsea with no harm done.

Issue is loan with option holds little upside for Chelsea and the sort of deal they’d want doesn’t benefit us that much - loan without buy clause gives us 0 control over his future, and a loan with obligation to buy / permanent deal is a massive risk as he hasn’t played for 18 months…

His goals and assists numbers in the Conference League were actually really good just before his ban. In my opinion he'd been looking electric. "Mudryk featured in four Conference League matches, registering an impressive three goals and three assists" I suggested this ban might be overturned and we could pick him up a few transfer windows back. I agree with others though that we'd need that option to buy to make it worthwhile. Let's hold our nerve until deadline day and see if Chelsea fold

Half the league are desperate for a goalscorer at this stage in the transfer window. He'll be on mega wages at Chelsea. They want someone keen or desperate enough to pay a worthwhile loan fee, and a big chunk of those wages. Presumably the fact that we went back in for him a number of times suggests he passed the ND test. Clearly very talented. Shame his agent’s demands scuppered the original deal.

You're entitled to believe that but lots of don't think Eriksen "saved us" with his 11 appearances that season. He helped, of course, but I doubt it's something we'd have thrown a fortune at to "guarantee" anything.
