They were collected, two big wheelie bins were stuffed full of them on the way out and 2 or 3 people were collecting them off people.

Just noticed that Frankfurt won 11-0 away from home today in the German cup. 10-0 at half time. May have been lower league opposition though.

I mean, fair point, we had a lot to do with it - it’s hard to remember a time when we bullied a league opponent physically like today - but by any objective measure, Tottenham were awful. lol

I don’t think he had a quiet day at the office. Okay he missed the penalty that I thought he would, but his running hold up play , brining others into the game was excellent.

Exactly the phrase I was about to type. We’ve had wins that have grabbed more headlines over the years, but I too thought that was our most complete PL performance. The pressure was on us with increased expectations, but we just turned up and demolished them from front to back.

To put it in perspective, Spurs have spent 2/3rds of the entire cost of the BFC squad already this summer, and by 1st September will have spent more than our squad cost in it’s entirety… and yet how many of them would you swap 😂

We have something that no amount of money can buy, a great culture. It takes a long time to build, but its clear Spurs dont have it. Just buying players will not do it, its more than that. Everything we are, Spurs are not, even down to the connection with the supporters at the end of the game. We literally wiped the floor with Spurs today with all the new players fitting in, like a hand in a glove. This season is going to be fun....

I thought he was fairly good. Of course, missing the penalty didn’t help, but we had so many great performances today. We made Spurs look very very average.

Those highlights are utter filth. How on Earth was it only 3?

I think the singing before Thiago's penalty silenced by the whistle would be a great shout for champagne moment if he had scored and put us top of the league outright. Maybe it still is.

I watched on the tele for context:

Excellent to a man today. Shame about the pen but it matters not to the result. It was close enough and good time to miss one so Thiago can get his drills in

Kelleher mopped up well when concenttation could easily have started to slip.

The strength of mentality seems to be growing amongst the squad.

Today reminded me of beating Utd 4-0, and to a degree when we drew with Charlton 1-1 in the sense of establishing confidence that we had stepped up to a new level.

This club always makes me proud. It was the anniversary on Thursday of my Grandad David Brown's death who followed the club back in the First Division. I never had a chance to meet him as he passed in 1981 but he was well known to Bees such as Bob Chamberlain.
There's something about the rise of this club in recent years since I started watching, the fans, MB, PG etc that make it feel like real family to me.

So many positives but one in particular stands out for me. Competition for places. I’m sure that is going to make a massive impact this season

Indeed. More lessons from Bees.They have tried taking the managenent. Now seeking long-term consistency and continuity a little too literally.

Bit late to the party, but so proud of the lads and excited for the season based on that performance. Regardless of the fact Spurs were poor and had half a team missing, we absolutely dominated them. It's not easy to do that in the PL, not easy at all. We obviously eased off in the 2nd half, but I'd put that down to managing the game rather than a drop off in quality. Excellent to a man and nice to see goals spread out as well.

Final thought: when we brought the subs on the second half there was no sense at all that we were downgrading ourselves. All of Damsgaard, Hickey, Anthony, Yarmo and Wilson could start for us and I would have no issue with that. Maybe our first XI from the 22/23 season was stronger (maybe), but this is unquestionably the strongest squad we've had in the Prem.

I was quietly confident before kick off. Work in progress, injuries, new ideas, bad mentality etc..Spurs were there for the taking. I didn't realise how crap they could be
But we were excellent to a man. Sangare looks like a wonderful player, an absolute bargain. KLP continues to improve with time. But what a joy to see Vitaly and Matti roll back the years
Impressed with the attitude of Jaidon and Callum coming on. Still hungry for more despite the game being sewn up
I think we might be alright this season. We are one of the teams that make the premier league what it is. Exciting, unpredictable for sure but I don't know a side who are so comfortable to play a variety of ways.
A few more of those performances and I might get the small suitcase out the loft.

Wow what a start to the new season.
Brentford totally outplayed Tottenham from the first minute.
Janelt-Sangare-Jensen totally dominated the midfield.
Keane Lewis Potter, played all over the pitch and deserved to score the opener.
Tottenham has splashed the cash over the summer.Spending big money does not mean you will be a top team, that was proven today.
Brentford's Sangare is going to be a monster in Brentford's midfield.
The Brentford squad is solid.
Bees fans buckle up for season 2026-27!

They have to be careful they don’t just recruit a bunch of mercenaries on big money who end up splitting squad and making their situation even worse.

Not aimed at you or your post in any way. It’s entirely sensible and logical from a Spurs perspective. However, I genuinely could not care in the slightest if they do. :)

The contrast between the team, squad and club we have and their drupe sack of individuals could not be more stark.

Were you facing the other way? You are meant to face the grass. His flicks and chestdowns were excellent and he also got back to defend.

It's all been said but I feel like I need to say it out of respect for the boys,

I can't remember a more convincing start to a season watching Brentford, and at the highest level.

Last time I was this convinced I was 8 years old watching us beat Mansfield 3-0 at home, didn't we win the league that season in 1998?

Special mention for Schade, KLP, Sangare and Thiago. Thiago missed his penalty but worked like a dog, superb performance which proved his game is more than just goals.

We could do an 11 v Birmingham in the week which you would say could start in the premier league, our squad is ridiculous.

Does it get any better than this? I bet it does

Just sensational.

I know it’s only one game and this may be an odd thing to say but I’m a little bit frightened about how good we could be and what might happen this season if we get the rub of the green with injuries etc.

In the afternoon match review Jamie Rednapp referred to our play as "total football", thats not something Ive heard about us before.

We were magnificent, and the fans getting behind the team was coming out loud and proud on the telly. Flags and red and white worked splendidly.

Almost as good as beating united 4-0, but if anything, even more satisfying because we're looking deadly at the moment. Strength in depth, competition for places, quality all over the place. Happy time to be a Bee 🐝🐝🐝

Watched the game on NBC, of course they had to say what a big club Spurs are. I get sick of this sort of thing. Spurs had their arses handed to them by the bus stop boys. When will these pundits get the idea Brentford deserve to be in the Premier League on merit alone. On any given day the opposition can be dog meat as the records show.

It’s a great point.

If we had lost 0-3, it wouldn’t dampen our outlook. Everyone would have sung until the end. Spurs fans are having a meltdown.

Feel like this is now a team and squad in which Schade can blossom. He has been such a confidence player who has amazing days and poor days and needs to find consistency to reach his potential. And just something about the structure now of the current team feels like he might be able to do that.
