Final Score Brentford 3 (KLP, Janelt, Kayode) Tottenham Hotspur 0

A word or three about Kevin Schade who was magnificent yesterday. Won everything in the air, ran at them, chased and harried and covered back - and most importantly played with a big smile on his face. Brilliant to see. Perhaps this will be the season it all comes together for him.

After all it must be such fun playing in such an attacking team.

Feel like this is now a team and squad in which Schade can blossom. He has been such a confidence player who has amazing days and poor days and needs to find consistency to reach his potential. And just something about the structure now of the current team feels like he might be able to do that.
Think he's going to be a monster this season

I was surprised how bad Tottenham were
it’s not as if the manager is brand new
Them and Man Utd played as if they haven’t had a preseason

Maybe down to all these foreign tours these “big” clubs do out of season, can’t be great prep for the new season

In the afternoon match review Jamie Rednapp referred to our play as "total football", thats not something Ive heard about us before.

We were magnificent, and the fans getting behind the team was coming out loud and proud on the telly. Flags and red and white worked splendidly.
Uve was prone to use the word 'liquid' football.......I think that sums up our performance perfectly. The fluidity of the movement was incredible.......I sad to my Bro, on more than one occasion, what the hell is our LB doing there (see first goal as an example). He wasnt the only one.

The football intelligence of this team is amazing.......or rather its Liquid football

Spot on. They travel to these far flung places to earn money that they don’t actually need. They play, they train, they play and travel a total of 14k miles. That can’t be the right prep for a season. We travelled no more that 500 miles probably the day before the Renns game. That allowed us to continue to integrate our new players in training and approach to games.

As I said pre match, selecting a 20 year old kid as your captain in your season opener away from home speaks volumes for the total dysfunctional thinking at Spurs. They were absolutely shambolic from start to finish and didn't lay a glove on us. Spangling loadsa money on overvalued overhyped journeymen and not having a clue about playing together. Throw in a mega long tour down under so close to the season and they got what they deserved, in fact they got off tightly.
We were everything that they weren't. We were fitter, stronger, quicker, so well organised and intuitive in our play. We were excellent in our movement on and off the ball, players interchanged positions with ease and looked comfortable doing it too. Our pressing was outstanding and we tackled with a ferocity that I haven't seen before. We literally outmuscled them all over the park. So proud of the team and what they stand for. So many brilliant performances but for me it is the total togetherness of this squad which is so impressive. This is going to be a wonderful season....

I rate the kid as a midfield player, not as a right back, I feel his career would have progressed much farther if he had signed for us. However his interview was like a nervous schoolboy giving his first speech at assembly trying to not make eye contact, how the f*ck would he inspire that toxic dressing room.

Switching Robertson to right back is typical of De Zerbi making a statement to his board. He obviously wasn't happy with Spence going. I'd hate to have this bloke anywhere near our club, he's a very self obsessed individual.

Driven by greed. They deserve all they get.

Yeah, that was mad. Taking off your 20 year old club captain that late in the game just summed up the culture of Spurs

Possibly because Keith doesn’t think he’s our best creative player. Our midfield is a different selection with Sangaré in the middle.
Keith knows a good midfield blend and the 3 that played yesterday were just that.

We were excellent and exposed the magnitude of the task ahead for De Zerbi and the misery in store for the entitled supporters of the Spuds. Get used to it people there's more a coming.

Would you ever see a manager of ours naming unfit players in an interview as an excuse? He's started his extraction plan from Spurs already, this only ends one way

I was shocked that he named young Mikey Moore twice post match regarding not executing the press correctly.

De Zerbi actually said this in his after match presser...."in Australia we couldn't work in the right way"......Brand exposure and money over the right preparation...... Madness!

Can anyone please tell us who the three pitch side commentators were at yesterday's match? Our eyesight in S101 wasn't up too it 😀

Think his performances were a bit over analysed last season tbh, along with his body language...he had to adapt to losing two strike partners and working with a new left back partner in KLP. Those understandings are now more fully formed and his performances this season should blossom as a resilt.

You did yourselves and supporters proud Brentford with that performance.
It is now 3.00am Sunday, and I had read a few after match reviews.
Brentford reviews being top drawer.
Well done Keith Andrews and team for out thinking, out playing De Zerbi's disjointed Spurs team.
All take a bow.
As always, COYB's 🐝⚽️👍.
Nice to meet you yesterday mate

I liked the way he slotted back to allow KLP to get forward. KLP was going almost as far and wide as Kayode yesterday, which seems to be a feature of our style now, but is only possible if others cover for our full backs.

Especially as Robertson was expecting to be replaced and I think was still feeling the knock after that coming together with Hickey.

Wow!
That really was something very, very special in every respect.

From the tremendous team performance by everyone, subs included, all the way through to the atmosphere and great crowd support. Flags worked well and looked impressive.

Everyone, us included, was ready for this and made it count.

Breathtaking fast and direct attacking football throughout, as if we have now decided to go into “fast forward” mode for every minute of the game.

Spurs could not match our physicality.
Sangaré was stand out.

However, Jensen and “no nonsense” Janelt were even better than before - completely fired up.

What I loved, as Spurs fell apart, was the sight of Richarlisson constantly falling over, looking to the ref, getting nothing, and beating the ground in frustration.

Plus, Gray and Solanke thinking did we make a mistake in going to Spurs not Bees.
No, you chose correctly because you simply aren’t good enough for Brentford!

Finally, must hand it to Michael Oliver for one of the best referee performances of recent times.
Kept the game going, played the advantage, and frustrated Spurs by ignoring their cheap tricks.

For Gray’s long term development as a midfielder would have been much better advised coming to us.

Especially as he carried their greatest threat.
I feel it is a very bad look for any manager to dig out his players in public, it should be confined to the dressing room or training ground. Bad enough if it is a senior player but absolutely not to a young kid.

Yep, he'd have been far better off shouldering the blame himself. b***ocking in private, support the players in public.

I am not sure whether this has been mentioned above but looking back at our first goal yesterday, it may well turn out that our first goal of the season turns out to be our goal of the season! :)

Sangare involved in the move 4 times too looking at the highlights

At one point yesterday KLP was on the edge of the Spurs box on the rhs. Mattie Jensen just slid across into left back, it was a joy to watch..total flexibility

Brentford 3 (KLP, Janelt, Kayode) Tottenham Hotspur 0

Why was KLP on the right wing in the lead up to the goal when he was playing left back?
He did it a few times - obviously a planned thing having him move through the centre of midfield and sometime out to the right while Janelt dropped in at left back.

it creates an overload on the right hand side , apparently Janelt covered him yesterday , Collins did against Frankfurt

real answer , hes a very naughty boy

All 3 goals were obvious,so we could celebrate without having to look at the ref, to see if he was talking to VAR officials, just in total 5 minutes added time,no players surrounding the ref,in other words a good old fashioned game of football.
