This is fair.
If he wants a move at this stage in his career I don't think we should stand in his way just because we might be one or two injuries away from needing him.

The younger supporting cast have generally been on our books for a while and they'll have to step up and take their opportunity when/if it comes.

Would probably be beneath the man, but selfishly wish he had been given the chance to come on against Spurs so that we could have said a proper farewell. At least he got a good rendition of "Pinnock's in the air" when he came to the SW corner to warm up.

Remarkably (...perhaps) a profitable transfer despite him being 33 now and 26 then.
Not disputing he's become a better player in the interim.

For me Ethan will remain an all time legend.He was pivotal in our championship team and in the initial premiership years.

What a great servant to the club. I am sure he goes with Brentford fans wishes and no doubt will he an standing ovation on his return with Coventry. Bless you Ethan!

Really been caught off guard by how sad I am about this. Had mentally waved him goodbye at the end of last season but as the end of this window got closer I started to think he was sticking around. What an incredible club servant. Maybe that’s why Pontus came to watch Spurs? So he could be there to wave off his mate.

I just checked and the reported fee at the time of his joining us was circa £3 million so we've made a 100 % profit ?!?!

I hope we paid him something in the 7 years he's been with us! Probably more than £3 million too ;)

Yep I'd call £5m+1 really splashing the cash given his age and contract situation, fair play Giles

Bees legend who I will always welcome back to BRENTFORD. Served us in our promotion years and was a giant in the PREMIERSHIP. Best wishes for the future except in games against us.

10 years ago Ethan was playing for Forest Green in the National League. They were preparing to play Maidstone away on 27th August (they won 4-1).

Fast forward 10 years and Big Eth has been a rock in our defence in the most successful period in our history. 5 years after leaving non league he was named in the PFA Championship team of the season for 2020-21.

He was instrumental in helping establish us as a PL team. For a time he dominated every forward he played against. His goal against Liverpool during the 3-3 draw in 2021/22 was particularly memorable and was one of the moments I knew we’d made it.

He’s remained a class act despite not being a regular starter and his performance against Leeds last season shows he’s still got plenty to offer the PL.

He leaves as a modern day bees legend and will no doubt return one day to take up his rightful place in the hall of fame.

Part of me wondered if we'd keep him until January when Sepp was back.

Great player, club legend, hate to see him go but it's time. He'll be a good add for Coventry.

Very, he’s played almost as many premier league games as the rest of our squad put together. We seem to have signed some good youngsters with the view to selling them for a profit but that model will work a lot better if we can stay in the league. If Pinnock helps us to do that he’ll be worth that £6m and more.

Sitting here thinking.
How many tackles round a player with them long legs, how many headers won. How many blocks by putting his body between the goal and the ball. Concluded it must be in the 1000’s.

Something he has always been the absolute master of is defending a goal kick or long ball where a striker with their back to the goal is looking to bring it down and hold it up and he just sticks and just knocks it away.

Dont think this has anything to do with it. Ajer or Collins could be injured next game? What it says to me is that the management are more than happy with the cover we have at the club.
