Deservedly Igor Thiago makes Troy’s ghost writer’s selection this week.

Igor Thiago (Brentford): He was an absolute monster in the win against Manchester United and an absolute nightmare for the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire. A big, strong, physical forward who can not only link up the play but can run in behind and when he hit that first one, you could have two goalies in and they wouldn't have saved it. He hit it on the half-volley and with the ball rising it is really difficult for strikers. It was really well controlled, he gets the goal he deserved and then gets his second one. He has been great at leading the line for Brentford all season.

Nathan Collins (Brentford): Goal and an assist with the flick-on. I just think when they first signed him from Wolves, I didn't get it. Now I do. Especially under Keith Andrews. He organises well, he moves the ball really strongly from the back. He is the leader of that team. Forget Jordan Henderson, he is the leader of that team. Obviously goals help at centre-back.
(That’s some 40 yard “flick on” assist to play Thiago in. “Goals help at centre back”. As opposed to not helping from other positions on the pitch??? 🤷‍♂️ )

Igor Thiago (Brentford): Like me, you probably took him out of your fantasy football team thinking he had fallen off a cliff, and then he has scored every week since. So that just basically says more about my fantasy football managerial ability more than anything to do with his performances! But he is the rock, the leader, making sure he is right up there for that conversation for Brazil with the World Cup squad. You've got Joao Pedro, Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus - these are the guys who are all being spoken about. Even Neymar, but he's the one with the most goals, he is the one delivering with the most performances week in, week out. I'm backing him to make the squad.
(Having just said he has no managerial ability, backs Thiago to make the Brazil squad. I’m sure Ancelotti will be taking note of Troy’s opinion.)

The team selection and musings of Chat GPT (Gormless Persona-like Troy) has become a morbid curiosity.

This week’s insights of AI coded in BBC BASIC as part of a Year 7 school project include; it being good when a goalkeeper saves a penalty and lazily not bothering to add anything about a selected player because all possible analysis has been captured in a recently posted paragraph about dropping him from fantasy football.

The pupils captured Deeney’s penchant for thuggery brilliantly with their programme selecting a defender sent off for violent conduct - but only mentioning that he scored. Additionally selecting Keith Andrews as manager whose physical team “beat up” Sunderland

Caoimhin Kelleher (Brentford): He kept a clean sheet against Sunderland, and he's really starting to command as a regular number one. He's starting to show that he commands the area in the right way. Obviously a penalty save always helps.

Igor Thiago (Brentford): Sixteen goals this season. We spoke about him last week - he's flying. Scoring again, carrying Brentford. They've got a real chance as long as he stays fit and continues doing what he's doing.

Manager - Keith Andrews (Brentford): It was a massive result for Brentford to beat Sunderland 3-0. At the start of the season, a lot of people were questioning whether Keith was the right man for the job and whether Brentford could stay in the league.
His inexperience, the squad getting depleted... now they find themselves on the path towards European places. It's frightening. Sunderland have been really good and I expected them to deal with the physicality of Brentford, but Brentford beat them up.

That's right. The same Keane that got a red card for pulling someone's hair.

Troy hasn't lost any credibility though, as there was none to lose to start with.

If the Brentford paragraphs are as accurate as the rest of that fiction, then it’s getting worse week on week.
In easily our most dominant, and most would say, best performance of the season, it was achieved seemingly without a midfield. Four separate players hit the woodwork, yet Igor and his goals carried us. The team earned a clean sheet. However CK, who had little to do apart from keep warm and do a bit of fielding and sweeping, is selected for catching a penalty.
It’s only worth reading for a giggle after your own minimal research eg MOTD.

He really is just taking the piss now. He’s included Michael Keane who was repeatedly violated by Thiago at the weekend and was sent off for violent conduct in midweek.

Otherwise he’s included Thiago and Kelleher and has KA as manager with this well considered insight:

Can’t argue with what Troy GPT has to say about the goal keeper in its team of the week. Have noticed the anodyne additional clause at the end of paragraphs emphasising that obviously good things are good (e.g. clean sheets help), or bad are bad, is an idiosyncratic feature of the Deeney algorithm’s “voice”.

Robert Sanchez (Chelsea): Coming off the back of a terrible week with his errors against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, you have to say he answered the questions the right way. Delivered against Brentford, made some big saves, kept Chelsea in the game and kept a clean sheet, which helps along the way.

As one of the HYS comments said, to get in Troy's team, you either need to score, get an assist or keep a clean sheet.

I've found over time that this is broadly true.

The BBC only keep the 'column' going for the clickbait and comments section.
