Whereas the loan for Reiss made sense as a short term option (perhaps whilst the longer term option wasn't currently available) 'unforced' loans can be potentially divisive. Yes Mudryk has said he's keen to play, but in the knolwedge that he could either have a blinding season and at the end of it leave or have a stinker, I'd always prioritise players you know are going to be here longer term, even if that means they're not quite at his level yet.

I just think it can mess with the dynamics between the 'permanent' players, if you see a loan player take your spot

I could see it with a reasonable option to buy... Lee Dykes talked about him on one podcast as the one that got away a few years ago and he is good friends with Yarmoliuk
He was the one that got away then...not better than what we have in the building, and his development has dropped off a cliff, 25 now and he's played about 50 games in 5 years.😬

I don't disagree with you here, but I think the potential could still be there underdeveloped and I would be curious to see if the transfer team would agree. If he is to be a depth winger, it's low risk. Battling Anthony for a role more than Schade or Ouattara. Additionally, his strengths/style absolutely fit our playstyle, provided he has the workrate to track back defensively. He's and unbelievably fast player and in the right system could be lethal on the counter attack.

I think the thought it not necessarily 'Is he better than one of our starting wingers' and more like 'When the team experiences two or three injuries, is he a better depth option than Gustavo Nunes?' Additionally, does that give us the extra cover to send Nunes out on loan to get more playtime?

Who knows, not me. Just guessing.

I think we would be interested in a loan with option to buy at the right price. By the right price I'd have said around £20m.

Chelsea won't want to offer an option to buy yet and even if they did, they'll want a bigger chunk of their outlay back. His value is at its lowest right now, as he hasn't been playing.

Which is why I think it's a non-starter.

No doubt he's a phenomenal athlete. When I still had Instagram, I remember him doing loads of deadlifts and squats designed to work on explosive power. I think we are all (me included) in danger of getting sucked in on this rumour due to the amount we coveted him in the past. As always, if the club deem it viable, then who am I to argue, but gut reaction is we've moved past him now.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

Just remembered Chelsea gave him an 8 (Eight) and a half year contract :ROFLMAO: he's still got 5 years to go 😭
What could possibly go wrong with a strategy of offering young breakout players 8 year contracts? 🤔

BBC reckon we made offer of loan with option to buy. Well well well. Got rebuffed but still.

If the option to buy price was 35m - 40m Chelsea may well take that as probably they will show a profit in books under the maximum of 5 year amortisation rule and even over the full 8 year contract term they would not be reporting much of a loss if any??

This lad had a sliding doors moment in 2022. One door to develop as a player and person and help him discover his true potential. The other was Chelsea.

That being said, our record at maximising potential. It would be a punt but that speed he possesses. It may just tempt PG and MB into a smart punt. Sounds like Chelsea not keen.

Lots of obstacles and money wise he’s on serious wedge at Chelsea. We would want an obligation to buy and that does not seem an option so can’t see happening at all.

Let’s not get lulled into thinking it was entirely his decision. Shaktar played a blinder and got an outrageous fee for him

Mudryk’s (then) agent realised that letting Brentford sign Mudryk for a reasonable fee was very bad news when major Champions League exposure was on the horizon and Arsenal and Chelsea could be “encouraged” into a bidding war. There was no way he was leaving a potentially huge cut on the table… which effectively scuppered the deal.

A player who would have be very good for us, but I can not see how he would fit in now we have JA, in an area we have a lot of options for.

I recall reading a report around the time of our interest, saying Shakhtar are notoriously tough negotiators. As you say they played a blinder having Arsenal and then Chelsea interested.
Luckily we are good negotiators too and maybe that's why didn't do a silly price deal - not that we'd have ever gone to Chelsea lrvels.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

Totally uninterested, we needed him in 2022, not today.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

All those saying we don’t need him or we would be interested
Reports do suggest we still would have him on loan on our terms
We aren’t the type to take a punt without it being a calculated risk
So we still believe he is good enough for us

Yes, if we could do this I honestly think we would go for it. We rated him back in 2022 and I am sure there is confidence we could get the best out of him now. If we could I think he would be a great addition.

The main problem, as others have said, is that 'our terms' and Chelsea's interests are so divergent.

He’d be competion for Schade on the left.

And let’s face it, if Schade continues not to want to sign a new contract he will be off in 12 months (or for free in 24) so getting his replacement in early would be very Brentford

Got QPrhaaaaq or Fulham Loan deal written all over it

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

not happening , he would not be cheap , who would we drop ? Not needed

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

Cant see there being any value in this one for us. Fee and wages both prohibitive IMO. Someone will pay Chelsea silly money or loan with no buy option.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Winger, 25, Chelsea to Spurs on loan)

Some people could be getting a bit shocked here.

This one could happen if the deal is right. However, very unlikely.
So, including you

I'm assuming that's more wages than fee you'd be referring to (as I assume a fee might actually be easier to know if it's a goer or not)?
EDIT: I now see suggestions that it's us, understandably, wanting an option to buy. So Mudryk might want to go here but Chelsea might want him to go to Leeds on loan and keep his signature.

Oh now we’re talking.
Don't get excited. I just wanted to stop people getting egg on their faces by slagging him off and then (maybe) having to explain themselves to him

Obviously it may never happen, but it would be SO Brentford. Track a player over multiple windows and eventually get your man...
