Is it solely because they don’t have the money to compete in Europe? Or just a general talent Developmemt and structure of the game issues

.... the only way to improve Scottish football is to have Scottish teams playing in the championship and lower leagues in England.... the only way.

They have at least as much money as LASK (Austria), Kairat (Kazakhstan), Bodo Glimt (Norway), Ferencvaros (Hungary) and Midtjylland(!), all of whom eliminated them in qualifying stages in recent seasons. I suspect it is your latter observation.

...I realise it won't happen..for many reasons....I was merely responding to a question on the current state of Scottish football and giving my opinion on what would help improve the standard.... Scottish clubs playing in the English leagues would help improve the standard of football in Scotland....if Wrexham, Cardiff and Swansea can play in England....hey ho.

Keith has done very well landing a job at one of the best run clubs in the country and i of course back him 100%.
The original punditry comments by KA were a long time ago and were resurfaced by the Media and MO'N commented on the question asked.
How long has Martin been a coach/ Manager?
35 years ? Maybe more maybe less.
I respect both managers/coaches and i wish Keith all the best as i do Martin,but there are those on here who are being offended over a reply too comments that they never even knew took place unless they watch RTE in Eire.
There is context in the conversation which is being totally ignored.

Yes i know Celtic capitulated last night, but you want to judge a mans career on one night ?

I'm not offended it's just a bit of a laugh given the timing.

I don't like a man who had basically left the game (now he's back) using his soapbox to slag off our manager before a ball had been kicked, because it was his turn to have the cushy media job. I believe he has taken the opportunity on Talksport too, not just Irish TV. And even if you are asked about it you can take a diplomatic route rather than re heating an old grudge. You certainly don't need to punch down on someone for having a worse playing career decades earlier.

Further to my earlier reply, one of today's Scottish newspapers has the following:

The highest fee the champions of Austria have ever paid for a player remains the £2.5million paid for Hadjuk Split for forward Marin Ljubicic; significantly lower than the £10.5million Scotland’s champions recently shelled out for Bodo/Glimt for Kasper Hogh.
The Reifessen Arena, where a raucous din followed the 5-1 rout of Celtic, has a capacity of just 19,080 and offers no comparison to the 60,000 who fill Parkhead every second week.
The last six [Celtic] play-offs have been lost to AEK Athens, Cluj, Ferencvaros, Mydtjylland, Kairat Almaty and LASK, none of them giants of the game. While they edged past Be’er Sheva and Astana in 2017 and 2018, exits to Malmo and Maribor make it eight failures from their last ten attempts.

I dont believe he hates our manager and he has much more important things to get on with than worrying about Keith Andrews comments that happened a while back.
All of this has been dug up by the Media and repeated on here whereas it is old hat and tbh 'fu*king boring'.
None of this was a problem when KA was appointed set piece coach and it bevame apparent later.
It reminds me of people being offended for the sake of being offended.
Its the classic 'i did not know it happened, but now i do i am deeply offended.
Really offended because someone else is too.'

Anyway.

Would that improve the competition old firm playing another ten or so sh*tter teams than they currently face

Scotland have already lost their 2nd club in the Champions League starting next Summer Qualifying
And the Champions will have to start in QR2 rather than the Group

Now with only 2 of their 5 clubs still active in UEFA
The 5 year ranking coefficient is only going to go down

That sounds rubbish ! Far less fun and games with promotion and play offs and relegation . Loads of utterly one sided nonsense all the time.

Is that really what people want ? Why is that - just so they can see the bigger boys more often?

They'd see fewerer of the big two, 20 teams = play each twice, 10 teams = play each other 4 times.

It seems ridiculous to spend a season qualifying for Europe, and then having got there, find myriad ways to leave it as quickly as feasibly possible!

R5 claiming 750 Scots kids (6&7 years old!) won’t be playing organised games tomorrow. Refs are on strike over behaviour of teams, coaches and parents.
Can’t see anything on the website yet…
