Things Others Say About Brentford FC

Rare to see any proper analysis on tv these days but that was genuinely interesting
He was key sure, but so was KLP. Wins the ball back as left back, moves with the ball into a centre mid position position, receives it back as a right winger, travels with the ball, lays it off, takes up an inside left position (one of the oldies) and scores as a centre forward.

The last 5 seconds of the goal was great, the full 15 pass version is brilliant
Ahem. Posted by me on Sunday, on the KLP thread!

Very lazy, just going on who scored the goals for us.
Sangare was head and shoulders over them all
In fairness WhoScored is based on the team with the highest ratings based on their scoring system. So not a subjective team choice someone made

That said - baffling Sangare didn’t get in

WhoScored is heavily weighted toward goals… goals win games.

On almost every media outlet, content creator and so on they have been glowing about the Brentford performance, some of them maybe getting a bit carried away after only one game though!

I don’t remember such a reaction before to one of our performances.

From the Birmingham message board tonight;

Brentford are a class above every team I’ve seen for the last 10 or so years. I’m very impressed by them. Quicker, more powerful and stronger than Newcastle and Leeds by a distance.

That's from someone who watches them play QPR every year.

Total sh*t for many a year
But, of course, we all still loved the Bees, whatever the quality of football on the pitch.

After Jensen played yet another glorious cross field pass on Saturday, I thought back to when we used to clap if a Brentford player did anything like this.

"Front line looks like Stevie Wonder had taken up barbering" Brilliant. He's super sharp, what a fantastic brain to be able do it all so quick and good delivery too. There is more humour in that 8 minutes than in hours of TV comedy.
He's brilliant. He'll be reading his AI assisted script from a mobile autocue however. But tremendous delivery and genuinely funny.

All very clever, and (slightly) amusing I'm sure.
But people like him (and his Arsenal counterparts) really don't care how "their" team are actually doing.

There was a good comment on the Brum forum, where bloke said he took his son because the boy had never seen a team play football that good live before.

Warms the heart.
Makes a pleasant change from the moronic Blues fans we used to come across when in the same league as them over the years!

Like an ant-eater, with my Jonny Lenin glasses on...

Dip in the Have Your Says on the BBC Sports page I do...

Seems to me, and my long nose, that those fond of 'being in the Know'...in the now...

are all talking up the Bees....

A "strong" team... a "well-run"....a "smart"...a fan's dream...team....

Seems most of the mentions are those made by the impressed...

I was taking my ant-eater notes, as you do...of the team - Brentford FC...

and was aware of many other types ...taking note too...

I'm glad they have a few sensible supporters who see it how it is. Plenty of the tedious, "we're bigger than Brentford chat on there" zzzz

This is a fairly new phenomenon that adds to the #teamslikeBrentford tag. Clubs everywhere (not just England) now use us as a demonstration that "football is broken" because we had the temerity to get to the Premier League, stay there and get better. That's not where we should be in the food chain in their closed minds. I don't recall #massiveclubslike.... Birmingham being denied the same opportunities we had and took though. 🤷‍♂️

Do you think you have the right balance in your medication?

I think it's because the majority of commentators still don't actually get the heart of what we do: what I'd call "compounding." As we all know, Brentford 2027 isn't the result of one great transfer window, it's the sum benefit of constant steady improvement over a decade, never having to do a Spursy 'reset.' Look how our squad has built:

2016 - Henry
2018 - JDS
2019 - Jensen
2020 - Janelt
2021 - Ajer
2022 - Damsgaard, Hickey, Lewis-Potter, Yarmoliuk
2023 - Collins, Schade
2024 - Carvalho, Nunes, Thiago, van den Berg
2025 - Kayode, Kelleher, Milambo, Ouattara
2026 - Anthony, Furo, Sangare, Schuster, Wilson

Always improving, but always keeping a spine of the "keepers of the Brentford DNA" whilst taking the financial gains from Mbeumo, Wissa & Co. along the way to make it all possible. So impressive 👏

Indeed, we had years of selling our best players and investing wisely to get where we are, all whilst staying competitive and building the squad that got us up from the championship. Alot of other clubs fans don't have a clue about our journey though, not in enough detail to appreciate it anyways

Do you think you have the right balance in your medication?

As an Ant-eater...

I would have to say....crunching through chitin-covered little leg-waving balls of chemical communicators...

Some capable of spitting ferocious acid in one's face...

All reliant on the taste of the chemical signal given off by the other, so versed in it...

That the very numbers I munch, makes a hunch about my own balance, perhaps risky...

but I continue to trust my form...

with my long nose, and my little glasses...

and my heart that was stolen by the Bees.

As to what others say about the them...

Yours is an example...

I was talking about how other fans, at this moment in time, with the free-scoring Brentford FC, seems impressed...

as am I...

Keepers of the Brentford DNA is a great phrase. It conjours up images of Peter Gilham as Hagrid.
