Rico Henry
I doubt it. Contract tirggered. Why would you let a proven first team player , international , and part of the promotion team who can STILL cut it in this division walk out the door ?I hope he hasn’t played his final game for us.

One year contract option taken up by the club![]()
Once he’s fully match fit, I’d say he’ll be at least a rotated starter. Hopefully, we’ve got enough players to allow rotation at left back, keep players fresh and Keith can select ‘horses for courses’.Back to where we were a year ago with Rico.
One year on his deal, returning from injury, lots of competition for his place. Does he manage another 30 games next year?
If he's fit and back to his best, with no lingering injury after-effect, then he's our best left back. So fingers crossed he is back to 100%Back to where we were a year ago with Rico.

The question must be asked, why has he not signed a new contract already. The club will be anxious to complete the squad for next season, and will be seeking a fee. In my humble opinion he is off this summer.I doubt it. Contract tirggered. He’s on probably a couple of million a year at least so I would hope any testimonial would be for a charitable cause.Must be due a testimonial this summer, hopefully the gate receipts will let him buy a pub in retirement.
Great news about the extension, feel we need to do some serious succession planning in his position but having him here another year (at least) will be invaluable.
I think you need to read today’s news. He’s with us for next season. The question must be asked, why has he not signed a new contract already. The club will be anxious to complete the squad for next season, and will be seeking a fee. In my humble opinion he is off this summer.
Could have said the same thing about Norgaard.I think you need to read today’s news. He’s with us for next season.
Buy a pub in retirement? Have you time-travelled from the 1970?Must be due a testimonial this summer, hopefully the gate receipts will let him buy a pub in retirement.

That is good news for the team, however, I am surprised.I think you need to read today’s news. He’s with us for next season.
It’s certainly a debate to have. If you want to avoid losing players for no transfer fees at the end of their contracts, then selling the summer a 12 month club option is triggered is the last chance to get a fee.So, according to the Rico and Mathias threads exercising the one year option is just code for they're off this summer.![]()
With Henry's injury history of late I don't see him leaving this summer and if he does it won't be for muchSo, according to the Rico and Mathias threads exercising the one year option is just code for they're off this summer.![]()
So basically absolutely anything is possible!Could be that he's off and we want a fee. Or perhaps he's staying for twelve months and then leaving on a free? Could be either?
Maybe it's just "wait and see,' regarding his return to full form and fitness and both parties are happy to leave it at that?
Whether he's a regular starter or not id be glad to have him available.
I very much doubt he's going anywhere except back in to his No3 shirtSo basically absolutely anything is possible!
Well spotted. So basically absolutely anything is possible!
If only Jamaica had qualifiedBut for his injuries, for my mind he'd have been heading to the World Cup. At his pomp, he was the best attacking English left back around.
Not if we can bring in Malick Diouf although doesn’t look likelyAre thinking Rico as first choice left back next season?
He’s looking good on the instagram videos.Rico gonna be fit and raring to go for start of season??
Maybe. But, Rico was absolutely flying again before his injury. Probably playing his best football for us. I would assume another left will be sought to manage his minutes. Not if we can bring in Malick Diouf although doesn’t look likely
Are they even a thing anymore?Does Rico have a testimonial coming up? Looks like he joined us in August 2016 so 10 years ago. All this talk of signing El Hadji Malick Diouf as his replacement started me wondering about this. It may have been discussed already in this thread so apologies for not checking if that's the case.
At the risk of being controversial, hope not.Are they even a thing anymore?
That's pretty sad if true. I know Rico is probably sorted for life financially but a game honouring 10 years of brilliant service should always be available to the player. He could easily donate whatever monies are raised to his favourite charities if he doesn't personally want/need the funds. At the risk of being controversial, hope not.
Certainly for PL players anyway.
Possibly a transition season with a clear successor by the end.
I'm sure a game for charity would be a sell out. That's pretty sad if true. Did Rico play for us in League 1?I have liked Rico from the moment he signed and judging by what we saw from him he still has what it takes at PL level, hope to see a lot more of him next season
Nope. He signed in August 2016Did Rico play for us in League 1?
I’m sure the Club would not oppose a request if he had an offer from another club he would accept and they’d wish him well. On the other hand, he will probably prefer to see out his contract, knowing it’s all positive.I suspect we are now further on with this transition, assuming Diouf joins. I know it is almost sacrilege to raise it but might he even leave?
Hopefully he stays for this season then does the same as Ethan and gets a great deal to finish his career, sad to see any of the remaining promotion team leaving but they've all been model pros and are a credit to the club and will long be remembered by most fans. Not many promoted clubs have so many players that played such critical roles in getting the club promoted and then adapt and improve like our crop of players have and then remain at the clubI’m sure the Club would not oppose a request if he had an offer from another club he would accept and they’d wish him well. On the other hand, he will probably prefer to see out his contract, knowing it’s all positive.
You rarely hear of them because players never stay long enough these days for it to be a thing. Are they even a thing anymore?
Cant edit my post but here is a list of players currently with their teams having been there for 10+ years. You rarely hear of them because players never stay long enough these days for it to be a thing.
Those that do have one, certainly in PL years (2000 onwards when wages exploded), have donated the money raised to charities.

And he truly did play for them when they were sh*t!Cant edit my post but here is a list of players currently with their teams having been there for 10+ years.
Doesnt mention if any left for loan spells etc in between but not sure that actually matters.View attachment 68508
Whats impressive mind is Lewis Dunk.
16/17 years at same club with a loan spell in 2013 to Bristol City.
