Final Score Birmingham City 1 Brentford 6 (Wilson, Hickey, Collins 2, Damsgaard, Thiago) - EFL Cup R2

Birmingham City 1 Brentford 6 (Wilson, Hickey, Collins 2, Damsgaard, Thiago) - EFL Cup R2

Maybe or 6-0 even. I was thinking of an evening game where we were 5-1 up and they pulled it back to 5-4 before we got the final goal. After their 3 very quick goals we took our kick off and Jackie Graham, I think, just booted the ball as far away from our goal possible!
I have a feeling the opponent was Crewe, but may be wrong

Wasn’t the Northampton game 6-1? If so, these were my first two Bees games as a six year old. I remember thinking, is it like this every week? I was soon brought down to earth 😊
I remember it as 6-1, we also went in at H/T 0-1?

Follow this logic and the game could have been stopped at 80 minutes, where do you draw the line? I don't get this argument about avoiding possible injuries, if you want to avoid any risk of injury don't play at all.

Northampton was 6-1 and McNeil scored for them in the first minute I seem to recall. York City was 6-4. They came from 5-1 down and scored three in about four minutes to make it 5-4. I think.

The 6-4 game vs York City was in 1970/71, the season before we got promoted.

Goals by Dawson, Cross (2) and Docherty (3). 0-1 down....5-1 up...then conceded 3 in very short space of time. John Docherty completed his hat-trick with the sixth goal. Have a feeling someone hit the post for us shortly afterwards too.

An eventful evening for us standing on the Ealing Rd terrace in 2nd half. Think we were at Brook Rd end for first half though and switched at HT, a regular habit in those days😁

The goal feasts in 1971/72 were vs Barrow 4-0, Hartlepool 6-0, Peterbororough 5-1... and just after Christmas vs Darlington 6-2. Another Docherty hat-trick.

Roger Cross was sold to Fulham shortly after the Hartlepool game I think, or we might have hit 5 or 6 even more times. Thankfully John O'Mara came good as season progressed so all was well in the end 👍🐝🐟

You're right. Bobby Ross hit the post with a shot from distance at 6-4. Odd the things that stick in your mind.

Oops apologies, I forgot to include the 6-1 vs Northampton which was after the Peterborough 5-1 but before Darlo 6-2. Yes I remember us going 0-1 down then blasting them..

Just checked in Wiki and that one was an O'Mara hat-trick 👍

Yes I seem to remember a number of games that season when we were losing at H-T only to smash them in the second half.

How does this sit with the betting industry I wonder, I might have been very very angry had I had £100 on a Collins hat trick last night!
More angry than someone who eg had money on Bees to win by five goals? We cannot really govern the game by reference to what the betting public wants.

All that said, the paying public i.e. those actually in the stadium, should have a say and Bees fans at least might feel they were short-changed last night.

I at least thought he'd let us take the corner given the clock was showing something like 90:25

The ball went out of play just before 90 mins came up on the stadium clock

Just another kick about for the boys?
After the first goal I think we started playing keep ball without threatening them much reminiscent of some of the cup games under Thomas.
After they equalised we woke up again, scored twice and then were relentless in the second half.
Shame we weren't attacking our end in the second half.

It all looked far too easy for us. We made the opposition look chronically poor.
However, a far greater challenge lies ahead on Sunday. You Reds....!

Feel I want to highlight how astonishingly good we were against Birmingham. I was there with my mate who’s a Blues fan in the Birmingham- had to sit on my hands quite a lot. But right from the start it was clear we were better in every possible way, won every dual, were quicker, fitter, stronger and far better technically - close control from Damsgard was other worldly - on it from the start and totally together as a team - and that’s the squad eleven. Didn’t get to the Spurs game - but this was close to the best game I’ve ever seen by a Brentford team and I’ve been coming since 1971. Best Brentford team/squad ever - despite being old Brentford allowing myself to get excited- we’re really f**ing good!

Inspired by Donald Trump
I think we should rename the Brentford Ait after this victory....
