Summer 2026 Transfer Window - Other Clubs

Big fan of this kid. As an American, also a big fan of Fulham not being the “go to” club for Americans anymore. Can’t wait til Antonee Robinson leaves them.

I’m obviously biased towards the team with 4 young Americans, but I really like their chances of going up this year. They’ve spent the Hackney money well

If he scores a banger for them this season, it could be a contender for the Pukštas Award...

If we can trust this data, what does this make Thiago worth. Jackson spent most of last season bench warming? Does not make sense to me.
I’d guess Villa’s mass exodus means they’re now recruiting in the last chance saloon where it’s a sellers’ market.

I quite rate Jackson always scores goals although doesn't offer much else and for cheaper than Delap before any add ons . Not bad value
His record in Spain/England/Germany is almost exactly one goal in three. Which is decent, and justifies the £32m Chelsea paid for him.

But unless he can "offer much else", then I can't see that he's worth the best part of £50m which Chelsea are demanding, esp since he's already 25, rather than some promising 20 or 21 y.o.

Better than Delap, though.

Supposedly Manchester City have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Enzo Fernandez for £120,000,000. No idea how Chelsea always manage to get such good fees even for players wanting out.
City have now signed 3 centre mids for a combined total of over 300 million, all in a single window

Similarly Chelski’s machinations every window have just done my head in tonight (SSN). Something like 4 or 5 ins and outs, completed/happening/in discussions.
Now, which twerp told them they had a rubbish goalkeeper? Come on now, own up!

I don't really understand how Chelsea always seem to get such huge fees for players. They have no sale leverage on Fernandez as no one else wants him so don't know why city are paying so much as Chelsea won't want to keep a moody f***er

But have sold 2 and lost 1 as his contract ended. The net spend overall playing squad is almost zero.

The fernandez fee doesn't seem too crazy in today's market. Unfortunately he is a very good player and time running out so city have to pay through the nose. 50m for delap on the other hand... Nuts

Yeah, I think before the next PL gathering they should hold a pre-meeting meeting before Boehly shows up with the sole item on the agenda being "WTF are we/you doing?"

Villa have signed Leon Goretzka, 31yo, on a free after 8 seasons at B.Munich. 6’2”CM, compared to Mathaus and Ballack in his earlier career. Still a current 🇩🇪 international and 3 apps at WC26.

If he was still up to it Bayern wouldn't have let him go. A bit like schweinsteiger

The exodus of player from Palace and Villa is quite intriguing really.

I know Villa's finances dictate a lot. But very odd that both have won cups and been what i would say successful to then have all their top payers leaving.

Managerial changes wont help.

Price for success?

Summer 2026 Transfer Window - Other Clubs

I've just retutnred from the Edinburgh Fringe and met up with an old pal who I'd absolutely classify as a 'footy nut'. Whereas I'm more nutty about Brentford than the actual sport itself (if that makes sense) he'll watch everything, including Aussie league games!

We spoke about whether this transfer window has been particularly momentous and whether it's set potentially dangerous precedences. I was relieved in truth to learn he agreed with me in that it had. Mainly 3 points

1. Player's demanding moves.

Look, I get it that some fans, not most, but some may be a bit more forgiving over Ollie's actions than I am. But that's only because the first and only time (for now) it happened to us, our negotiator supreme, the best in world football if the prices swirling around other clubs are anything to go by, got £55m for a player who'd in my view already reached their peak with us. Clubs need greater protection! Whether that means new clauses in contracts about forfeited pay over certain actions, whether that means specify entries over what differentiates requesting to leave and dishonouring your contract, whether clubs can insert minimum starting bids over the sale of players trying to quite literally void their contracts (Mateta) etc.. otherwise this will become even more of a issue than it already has.

2. Squad 'Exoduses'

Personally I differentiate the players that Newcastle have lost compared to what's happened with Villa. Reset v destruction. But considering Palace who are arguably in their most successful years as a Premier Leage club are losing a few too, it is noteworthy. It leads onto to what I think is arguably the 'recementing' of the top 6. In other words, as a smaller club with European aspirations, whilst I'm not not suggesting at all this would happen here, what comes with having a successful team is having players that will more and more commonly be linked with moves elsewhere.

3. 'Top 6' financial supremacy/ Premier League isolation?

I imagine some will either thoroughly agree or thoroughly disagree. Despite finishing last season in the top 4 and losing what they have and with Spurs effectively buying in almost half a new starting squad, the sheer financial dominance of the top 6 has never been so clear.

What continues to fund this though are other Premier League essentially surrending vast sums to them for arguably adequate at best players. Forest paying £50m for Delap, apparently about to spend £40m on an Everton teen, Savinho £75m, Gonzalez to Newcastle £52m.

And that's what I mean by Premier League isolation. Complete hypothetical, but if Yarmo turns into the player we all hope he will, there will only be what 5 clubs in the world who can afford him. On the one hand great, but that's nuts.

Whilst I do appreciate alot of this is hardly new, it's been quite alarming just how much movement, esepcially within the league, has been done. And I can only imagine it'll continue

Forest are going to sign Munoz from palace… I can’t see palace coming back from this. Are they going to finish 17th? Or even get relegated?
