EFL Cup Round 3: Reading (A) Tues 15th 20:00

There used to be matchday parking near the ground. Takes an age to get out afterwards though but it's just up the road and you can always get a cheeky McDonald's on the way back to the car.
The amount of time it takes I’ll end up having a Maccy’s, KFC and Wingstop!!!

EFL Cup Round 3: Reading (A) Tues 15th 20:00

According to the Football Ground Guide, dating from mid-2025:
"At the north end, the Eamonn Dolan Stand holds 4,946 supporters, while directly opposite, the slightly smaller South Stand accommodates 4,350. Away fans are situated in the southeast corner of the South Stand, with a typical [League] allocation of just over 2,300."

Bees should be guaranteed the whole of the South = 4,350, I'd have thought, but should we have a bigger take-up, I wonder do they have the facility to accommodate the away allocation further round the corner into either the East or West (touchline) Stands?

Incidentally: "A video screen towers above the visiting supporters, and the remainder of the stand is reserved for home members, including safe-standing areas for those who prefer to watch the game on their feet."

Any chance someone can open a travel thread for this game?

(Not me though, before Mods suggest it, as I'm not in the slightest bit interested in how the Oyster Card system does or doesn't work......🙄)

When are we going to get confirmation of the date?

Great draw…everyone’s up for this one💪…Will be like the good old days and a rivalry to be reintroduced…they don’t like us and I’d imagine they don’t like us even more with out rise and their fall from grace 😉🤣 a lot of areas in that berks manor that have plenty of🐝 in em too 🙌🏼

We want 3k minimum but might need more 👀🙌🏼

I doubt as many as is suggested will go. Remember many of our lot including those that go to away PL are relatively recent fans and as such may not be as excited as us more seasoned ones who will travel to cup lower round cup games and know the history. Hopefully sensible pricing and good kick off time will.help.
But some people like the chance to visit a ground we don't go to every year, and a relatively local game.
You don't have to have been there years ago to want to go now, I'd suggest.

We won there 5 times out of 7 in the Championship, must be one of our happiest hunting grounds.

Exactly this.

Could that well connected person also let them know that Tuesday 8th works best for me and I can get on the beers.

That’s 7 (Seven) successive away draws now across the two cups is this a record ? !! Having said that it’s a fantastic draw and one that we’d have all picked before it took place.
Hopefully save the home draws for the next round onwards when things probably get a bit more difficult , no more QF away at the likes of Newcastle and Man City that scuppered us over the last couple of years.
We can , with the right draws go all the way in this competition.

I prefer. Home games in the cup are normally a bit flat with too many new Brentford not knowing where their seat is as its only their 3rd visit..... Or worse complaining about people standing in the West Stand.

These away games are like a nostalgia trip for us oldies.

Only the early rounds, If we get a QF or SF at home most ST holders and top TAPS members will want to be in on it!

SWR beyond you need a National Rail ticket. No contactless/oyster.

Or you can treat yourself to a much faster train from Paddington to Reading and pay contactless for that part.

Be brave, you'll be OK.
Yes but does it stop at Ealing Broadway?

EFL Cup Round 3: Reading (A) Tues 15th 20:00

Fast trains form Paddington do not stop at Ealing Broadway.
You'll need the Lizzie Line. Either lots of stops to Reading.... or go to Paddington and come back on a fast train.
I wont do that. Might drive to Slough and get Lizzie. Is Green Park on it or do I need to change at Reading?

Change at Reading for the Basingstoke slow train. 1 or 2 stops.
Like most of us, I have never done it yet but that's the routine apparently.

My wife has a car park pass for a school half a mile away. Result.

Seems they cant wait for this one either (see below) 🤭

Also, they seem convinced this game will be played on Tuesday 8th September and their trip to Oxford United will be postponed. Given that this round is over 2 weeks to accommodate clubs in Europe, as the midweek of w/c 7th September is when the first round of European fixtures will be played and 8 of 16 ties involve teams in Europe, it seems pretty likely that we'll be playing that week but I don't see why it couldn't be Wednesday 9th.

To bring the discussion back to the actual game, I’m guessing that we are likely to be up against a former B team player, Kyreece Lisbie, who moved from Colchester in L2 to Reading this year.

That's all very interesting but what about the trains? Does anyone know how we might get there?

Lizzy line goes there.
Yep Elizabeth line is free if you have a London Freedom pass, you just show the ticket guys at Reading station, There are football specials every 3 min the bus takes about 15mins. Love the football buses great banter, Always used the bus for Anfield and Goodison.

Odd that’s it’s not the 8th?
Reading aren’t playing Oxford that day and we have Chelsea on Friday 18th.

Reading will play Oxford on 8th, surely.

I suggest the line written in June by Reading and Oxford about "this game will be postponed if Reading reach R3" was nonsense, they hadn't considered that the league cup game could end up in the other week.

Sorry ignore me they did postpone the Oxford game too. Weird!

Blame it all on Sky it's usually up to them

Really bizzare. Why can't they play on the date originally scheduled? Oxford aren't playing then either.

We can now confirm the date for our Carabao Cup Third Round tie, with Premier League Brentford visiting the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Keith Andrews' Bees will make their first trip to RG2 in five years on Tuesday 15th September, kicking off at 8pm.

Full ticket details, including pricing, will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, our away match at Oxford United, originally scheduled for Tuesday 8th September, has now been postponed.

The fixture will be rearranged for a later date, with full details to be confirmed in due course.

All at Reading Football Club share our supporters' frustration at the postponement of our trip to the Kassam Stadium. We would have been ready and willing to fulfil the fixture on its original date, but circumstances outside of our control mean that will no longer be possible.
