I think realistically we can go into every game and have some degree of confidence that we can get something if we reach our good level. I couldn't really say that for some away games previously even if we have sprung the odd surprise along the way.Every game, wow we are going to win the league!!!!!

My prediction as to what this means:
Meghoma goes on loan (if West Ham haven’t replaced Diouf yet, could he go there?)
Henry leaves next summer, and I don’t think we’ll see as much of him this season. Be more of a 25/26 Pinnock-style role.
KLP will continue as the starting left back to begin with but he is a very different type of player (less physical and, obviously, right footed). I think we can reliably use KLP as cover and depth across both wings now which will be needed, and we have a proper alternative at LB. Certain opponents will probably just suit Diouf better as well.
When KLP goes to a European giant for £100m+ next summer after breaking into the England team and racking up more than 10G + 10A we will have a replacement ready to go.

Have you ever seen Brighton’s new left back play? There’s probably a good reason for him being a quarter of the price.
Off of a quick look he’s 2 years older than Diouf for starters, and spent last season in Switzerland where he made 20 appearances starting 14 games, and starting once for Algeria at AFCON. Diouf for comparison started 30 times in the Premier League and 4 times for Senegal at AFCON.
This isn’t me saying Brighton’s new left back won’t be good, but it’s very easy to see why one costs considerably more than the other.

We know that when we sign players, we lay out what we see as their strengths. We also lay out where we believe development is required for them to achieve their potential. Seems like a typical BFC transfer to me.

I am softening on this one a bit, although i still think the cost is a bit high.
The bloke obviously has some serioualy good physical attributes, if we can get his defending anywhere near decent, he could be a good signing, although i think his future could be further forward.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has exceptional delivery but is considered a poor defender #Gary Neville and has had a fantastic career for two world class teams. Not suggesting Diouf is at that level yet, but only 21 years old with plenty of development potential. Yes cost is high but trust that PG feels plenty of upside.

Are we trying to sign players from every African country? This season it’s Mali and (hopefully) Senegal. Last season it was Burkina Faso. Brand awareness throughout the continent as another step forward.

I wouldn’t get hung up on transfer fees that get reported. There are now very very few players in world football who are 1) good enough to materially improve our squad 2) financially sustainable for us salary-wise 3) Willing to join us and 4) Willing to sign a long-term contract on terms that allow us to protect their future value.
Even when you find these players, the market is crazy and we’ve seen plenty of previous transfer windows where we’ve tried to close on these prospective players and failed, sometimes quite publicly. When we actually manage to find one and get the deal done, I think that should be celebrated as a recruitment win - almost irrespective of the fee paid.
In any case to the extent that reported fees are “real” (I think they’re usually exaggerated) the actual cost of player acquisition is the entire package: wages, agent fees, contract length, injury risk, resale value and even the knock-on effect of putting a new player on a salary that disrupts your existing wage structure. I’d imagine that for us signing even free transfers at the salary brackets that some of our “midtable rivals” are happy to pay (looking at £150k+ in some cases) it would be vastly more expensive as a commitment for us than a £30-40m signings with a 5-6-year contracts on the salaries that we pay with strong resale potential.

This on-off-on transfer is, to me, a bit concerning. Not the player but the amount of seemingly-specific information that has appeared on X Accounts that appear to be WHU fans giving internal confidential details. IMHO, it's all a bit suspicious and, if it turns out to be mainly correct, makes WHU very dodgy.

Maybe the club see him playing as a wide player with his pace and power and one of the best crossers of the ball.
As they have been trying to sign a winger so maybe they feel this is the right call.

I really doubt that; why wouldn't we just go straight for a player who does that in the first place? On the other hand, a full back who can defend well and can overlap and cross accurately is a valuable commodity.

It was the same with Man U last summer with Bryan's sale. Endless leaks and briefings, and massive social media interest... but all just noise from a Bees perspective

I'm in the same boat as you.
I think the main reason it's been a harder transfer to process than others we made is that, whereas a player of Sangare quality instantly improves us. Wilson is clearly there to fill the supportive role to Igor, Jaidon has come to supply greater depth on the wing (perhaps even fight to start), Schuster clearly one for the future.
With Diouf, we already have KLP playing his best football and whilst Rico is nearing the end with us, on his day, he's still a brilliant LB. So it's harder to envisage Diouf's immediate impact especially at that price. Clearly there's 'movement', i.e. confirmation this might be Rico's last season, KLP eventually moving further up etc that justifies this move far more than we are privy to just now.
Lastly, it seems ludicrous to say, but I think if this summer has revealed anything it's that anything under £50m for a Premier League player (I know WHU went down, but he was Premier Leaague last season) is now considered good value.
Which is what makes Sangare's signing even more spectacular

I just find it so unprofessional but it does highlight how discrete BFC is and that contrast can't go unnoticed.
Assuming it goes ahead, no doubt it will be an undisclosed fee, so 'ammers fans will believe they've had us over with whatever numbers they leak out while Phil will probably have the slightest of smiles knowing we've got one of Lee's agreed targets... and some of our fans will be moaning that we've paid too much – but it was ever thus.
