Crystal Palace and Glad All Over

Crystal Palace are asking their fans for suggestions for a new club anthem!

I just don't get it.

Glad All Over has been synonymous with Crystal Palace for as long as I can remember.

Surely Club anthems are popular terrace chants that get adopted or have become traditional over a number of years.

We have been singing Hey Jude since the 70's to such an extent that it became our anthem and was then adopted by the Club.

We would be livid if our club tried to change our traddition.

How would you feel if you were singing something from the 1920s?

Probably going to get me a whoosh, but… isn’t Glad All Over from the 60s?
Yes it is, but that wasn't my question. The 60s was way before a sizeable number of fans attending matches were even born. Or perhaps their parents too.

5 years before Hey Jude.

No need for it. I bet it was Simon chases idea .

Ah - OK.

But surely the real issue is that it’s sh*t, rather than it’s old? I mean, Hey Jude is from the same decade…

It is dreadful. Absolutely nowhere near the dross that is "oh when the saints" though. Thankfully we didn't give Spurs anything to shout about and aren't playing Southampton for the foreseeable!

Don’t get me started on Sussex by the Sea. Now that’s proper sh*t (and proper old!).

Not keen on Palace but always thought Glad all Over is great. No idea why they’d want or need to change it.
About to say the same thing. Completely synonymous with them

Some busy **** with a marketing degree thinks they know better than the fans as usual.

So what? My boy loves it and it was out before his grandparents were born.
If fans were trying to come up with a new one, fair enough, but I don't think it's for the club to decide what the fans like

If i didnt like it, I wouldnt sing it
If none of us liked it, none of us would sing it and it would no longer be our anthem.

If the fans come up with a better song, they will sing that louder, in our case, probably after Hey Jude has just finished and there will be natural evolution.

Clubs Anthems (and songs) in my honest opinion are part of a clubs heritage, just as much as the Club's colours

They could sing.....

I could fly higher than an EEEEEEEEEagle.....

Or the Eddie the Eagle smash hit from the 80s?

Not really bothered

Hmmm went to see Police Dog Hogan (the most middle class band in the world!) a couple of years ago at the Half Moon and they unexpectedly played Glad All Over … they were most surprised when my Watford mate & I booed them!!

I hate other clubs’ “goal” songs with a vengeance, if I never hear “Papa’s got a brand new bag” again, it will be too soon!

Go too Selhurst Station as a busker.

I can't really think of many positive things to say about Palace. They're the most humdrum club I know and when I go to Selhurst to to stand in that cow shed of an away end and hear them singing Glad All Over I think thank it sounds absolute sh*t.
