How long before sides come up with a personalised plan for the man? Will he be man-marked? How will he cope? How will we adapt? If he continues to influence games as he looks like he will, I see a scenario where he is swarmed the instant he gets the ball. Think of the space this creates elsewhere for our lightening attack. One touch lay-off by Sangaré. Pass to Dams or Jensen. Bish, bash, bosh goal!

Exactly this. He’s a very important cog in a well oiled wheel.

IMO this won’t be an issue. As Jamie Redknapp said on Saturday, he’s 2 steps ahead of everyone else on the pitch. I suspect only the best of the best will be able to stop him.

He raises a very good point, how did everyone else miss him, not like he was under the radar. Surely if you were a senior recruitment figure at somewhere like Spurs or Man U, or AV or anywhere else, you would be having that discussion. Long may it contnue, we make it look so easy, maybe it is.
Maybe they were well aware and decided he wasn't a big enough name for their history merchant fanbases?

I'm not sure many Premier League clubs missed him but their risk assessment probably thought he may be a one-season wonder, so wait and see. We've probably tracked him since he first popped up in Europe have had a lot more analysed data that made us able to decide early and act quickly.

But our extended tracking of Sangare does not protect against a 1 season wonder does it, only time will tell as you say. However, i could be wrong (again), but i still see this as a missed opportunity by others. Not convinced its about risk assessment given some of the high risk signings that they have made. This is not a one off, there are many examples over the past 10 years where this has happened, and will no doubt continue to happen, also replicated by Brighton and Muff. There is something fundamentally wrong with the bigger clubs processes if you ask me.

I think a lot of the big teams would rather we spend £40m on someone like him and take the risk and they'll then buy him for £80m if it works out

Probably we had data on a number of seasons and the statistical trajectory – certainly, we have the 'Giles Magic' of his and MB's risk assessment as opposed to uninformed caution... so they missed the opportunity... thank goodness!

Mamadou Sangaré

Surely we missed an opportunity at 8 million.
Just like we could have got Thiago on the cheap from Ludgorets.
Giles out!

That's because them and their fans will not tolerate a work in progress. They want "names".

The journalist Rory Smith has said much the same thing in that a 'Big' club would rather see a 'Small' club gamble on a player at a lower price then jump on once the player has proven themselves in the PL.

His feet are absolutely fantastic, and his ability to come up with the ball is a delight. He is also incredibly bendy.

Tired towards the end but superb in first half particularly. He will flourish under KA and team. His close control amongst other attributes will lift us to another level.

Mamadou Sangaré

Not quite as good as last week but if he played like that every week every top team would be in for him in Jan.

Was still excellent for the majority 👏

Mamadou Sangaré

Very good again... needs to work on his right foot, though, as we progress though the season opposition analysts will focus defending on forcing him to use his right.

Mamadou Sangaré

The first half was wow, second half towards the end he battled but the whole team struggled a bit to keep it. He has two very good shots blocked today as well, some of his footwork was unreal.

One of them was with his right foot! 😳

That yellow card was pretty early in the game for someone who plays like him. I thought it was a sign of maturity how he played afterwards

Mamadou Sangaré

So it was! 😲 🫣

The folks around us spent the second half chatting about how well he was doing holding himself back! Sometimes you watch a game but don't really know what happened!
Anthony and Sangare have a similar gait. I made the same mistake a couple of times 👍

My hunch is that we’ll become even better if teams start doubling up on Sangare.

He already makes and wins challenges he seems to have no right to pull off in the midfield crowd and to somehow have the time to lay off a good pass or to drive forward from it. Short of hacking him down doubling up is most likely just to open things up for the rest of the midfielders.

And all round the pitch you can see how Keith has built the relationships so every player seems to have a buddy to support and cover their position. Sangare seems to be everywhere the third man in those relations and mops up from them wherever they are. Doubling up on him as the free range player would completely expose most teams to a simple quick switch of the ball to the other side of the pitch.

This lad is very good and has the qualities to be up there with the best to pull on the shirt if he carries on.:king:

Time to bring the Sam Sodje song out of retirement? Sangare fits in perfectly too! :sneakoff:
