Whatever we paid for him (it was a lot) , Leeds away is not the game to be making your debut without any preparation. Let's give everyone time to find out what exactly is needed to get him ready. There is no rush with this one..

Very sensible, it’s not as though we are desperate for him to start.

A success in Norway
A success in Prague.
OK in a terrible mess of a West Ham team.

This guy might be the Left Foot Kayode to give us some balance.

In Czech, he played Left Mid a fair bit too...

Scored on his debut for Tromso and Slavia Prague....look out Sunderland.....⚽

El Hadji Malick Diouf

Our attacking 3 and centre halves are going to feast on the wand of left foot this lad has!
Too true, but the other is only for balance clearly. Not sure he touched the ball with his right foot twice in that show reel. Something he’ll need to work on.

Assume he’ll be on the bench and might get the last 10-15 mins but will be very dependent on game state.

Would bet on an unchanged line up barring any injury niggles so far.

El Hadji Malick Diouf

From memory, did he have a stormer of a first half against us at the GTech last season?

El Hadji Malick Diouf

The transfer was announced at 12:15 today. Unless it was for some reason only registered in the 15-minute period immediately before that, after all the media work had been done, he’s eligible.

El Hadji Malick Diouf

Perfect cross for a goal that was disallowed for close offside
Cheers.

But may also be a Wolves player im thinking of.

There was a LB in either of those games who gave us nothing but was then weirdly subbed at HT or early second half.

The only one I can think of is Ait Nouri who always looks class against us. I'm not sure he was still at Wolves last season?

My brain only thinks how much was Sangare and how much is this this guy. And the gap in quality.

One already changed the team and the players around him. The other one might be just a back up

Or more clearly, one was ready now and this one is one for the future.

Plenty of dumb asses on fb and twitter who think Phil’s stealing a living and basking in the accidental glory of buying Mbeumo 7 years ago with everyone bought since being a bit mid and/or needing years to come good.
Mind boggling, if anything his recruitment is so good that the players we signed 7 years ago can keep up in a top 10 PL team.

This window is one of the best we've had under PG.

A better comparison to confuse your brain would be Diouf 35-40m and Kayode 14-17m :)

Must have been Diouf as he was subbed second half and i think he was having a good game.

Wasn’t the one supposed to be ready now as already played in Premier League?

There’s a lot of questions about his defending. Not for me to decide.

El Hadji Malick Diouf

Has he got a long throw in his locker ?

El Hadji Malick Diouf

He does seem to be able to ping in some sweet crosses, now all we need is other to get their bonce onto them!

El Hadji Malick Diouf

I'm a bit surprised at this one. I'm not sure we need him or where we are going to play him. Time will tell I guess.

I think you need to look through this season and to the next. Rico is a club hero who'll go down in our folklore but he's almost certainly not the player we all remember him as. Keane has been a remarkable stand-in but he's still not an all-round left back. Meghoma is still young and even playing in the Premiership is no guarantee he'll come through in the Premier League.

Malick is still work-in-process but he's got the attributes BFC is looking for: power and pace, a year in the PL, decent technical skills and a good crosser of the ball. It may be a trifle opportunistic but he's a player for the future and carpe diem.

Difference in fee is that one was bought from France and one from England. Diouf was a £20m player a year ago when West Ham bought him from Prague.

So that makes him a 40M player now because….?

Since his transfer to West Ham he has played a season in the Premier League with decent stats for his first season as a 20/21 year old in a relegation side, he has played international football at AFCON finals and World Cup finals.
The above is a huge amount of experience for a young footballer to gain in one season. The fee is reported as £35M plus add ons. We can, based on past experience, expect the club to be happy to pay the add ons since Diouf will have progressed as hoped and a large upside is anticipated on a player maybe 6 or 7 years from peak performance and value.

I like , " the club see some thing in me that I didnt " or some thing like that , lots of room for improvement /potential .I also like his jacket
Which proves tge point re having development plans for new arrivals. We're seeing things in players that they themselves can't see!! Also means their current club hasn't seen it either.

apart from older players , Hendo, Pontus , Erikson etc ,, I cant think of any one we've signed who's the finished article . Thats why we get them and not the bigger boys

El Hadji Malick Diouf

Didn't think we needed him, thought £40 million was steep... but still delighted we've signed him!

Have to remind myself that we are essentially upgrading Rico with a younger player with added potential. If PG and co think he's worth it, that in itself is exciting with their track record of unearthing diamonds.

El Hadji Malick Diouf

Get fed up of reading discussions regarding fees and whether they are unrealistic or whether we are overpaying.

By now surely all fans can trust Giles and co that firstly they do their homework before putting in any offer and secondly that they have a valuation in mind and won’t go above that figure.

In my simple mind: if the powers that be think it’s a good signing and value for money then historically their record speaks for itself !!!

El Hadji Malick Diouf

He's going to be world class for us. Has all the attributes and we are very well equipped to help him reach his full potential.
