I only watched it live, no replay but it seemed like a clumsy challenge rather than a violent act.
It didn't deserve a red card in my opinion.

Law changed recently on a Denial of a Goal Scoring Opportunity, if a penalty is awarded, no red card. This may partly explain why a challenge like Regullon's is no longer a red card offence in the area.

I'm sure there still has to be a genuine attempt to play the ball though.
Which I didnt think there was.

He was excellent today. No complaints at all.

Oliver was very good i thought. But in general it did feel like a step in the right direction on a number of things: VAR not over-analysing, players getting on with it a bit more on throw-ins etc and it was noticeable how players weren't staying down for non-injuries (knowing they would have to sit out for a minute if they did).

No, but Collins did initiate it, then went down quite easily. A tug on your shirt does not normally cause you to tumble to the ground, in my opinion.

Not quite correct. DOGSO is still a red card if the offence is one of pushing or pulling inside the box. Yellow when it’s a genuine attempt for the ball. This was a pushing offence and therefore would have been a red card if Oliver deemed it to amount to denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity which he clearly didn’t. I’m not his greatest fan but I thought he was top class yesterday…

It definitely wasn’t DOGSO IMO. There were other defenders between Kev and the goal.

No complaints really. There were a handful of soft free kicks given where the defending player in possession let their body fall over. These weren't given as free kicks in the world cup. But overall it was an enjoyable (to say the least) free-flowing spectacle.

You do yourself a disservice by describing someone as useless, before they've even started the game. It sounds like you're prejudging them and their performance, in my opinion.

I would share the view of him being worse than useless on the evidence of my own eyes watching him stumble his way through refereeing any number of our matches over the past 6 years or more. He's appalling.

Thought the ref had an excellent game yesterday. For me, he showed why he's now considered probably our top referee. The penalty he gave was spot on, whilst it's probably not a stonewaller. He gave it a couple of seconds of thought because it wasn't a stonewaller, but as the TV replays clearly showed Kevin was given a push in the back. Aside from that, he gave the free kicks that should have been given, but also let the game flow.

The penalty incident was a microcosm of the whole game. Kev attempted an overhead kick and is on the ground as the ball pinballs about. He still manages to get up and go again towards the ball before any Spurt defender, and is fouled.

But he’s always come across as a “big team” referee (most egregious example, Norwich at home in our 1st season in the Championship) so maybe that will work in our favour?

Robinson was the ref who allowed the WBA goal to stand at Norwich last weekend after Heggebo blatantly put the ball in with his hand and neither him or his team saw it but nearly everyone in the ground did. Heggebo gets a 2 match ban for ""successfully deceive a match official by handling the ball in a direct successful attempt to score a goal" instead of Robinson getting stood down for incompetence.

Instead we have to suffer his incompetence on Tuesday night.

Not sure he "allowed" the goal, he simply didn't see it. If you watch the goal back, his view is obscured by 2 -3 players, the player's body blocked the hand used from the AR.

No but it was so obvious one of the officials has to see it as did thousands of people watching the game and as a referee you know by players reactions when something is not right as all the Norwich players immediately appealed for it and it still does not alter the fact that Tim Robinson has had a lot of controversy during his time as a referee. He is not up to the standards required to be a top official not only in my opinion but many other respected football supporters including our own @North London Bee.

I know you like to back all referees and seldom have a critical word to say about them but as someone who has refereed myself I know when I think a referee is not up to scratch and Tim Robinson falls into that category,

What score difference does it need to be to have to play the correct amount of time?
2 goals ? 3 goals?
Perhaps it's made clear in the Laws of the Game?

Suggesting referees should be selective about which laws of the game they apply is quite the take.

There were more than 2 mistakes but I didn't want to pile it on.
At least he remembered to turn up on the right day so I suppose that's a plus.

Also it is his responsibility under the Laws of the game to ensure there is 90 minutes of playing time which means for the multitude of subs made he has to add on that time IRRESPECTIVE of the score.

If he's from and supports Leeds, I agree. If he's a Bradford boy or Sheffield then it would benefit us. Yorkshire a big place.

Imagine I was reffing QPR v Morecambe. If Morecambe thought that was a biased selection then they'd be in for a pleasant surprise
