Like Elliot to Villa you mean? Unless you’ve seen the terms
Meghoma certainly.A few outgoing still to do I imagine.
Got to think of the counter factual though. How many do we not know about who we didn’t sign who after another year turned out to be terrible.Three of our last high profile signings - Thiago, Sangare and Diouf, were all at their previous clubs for one season only, with their value more than doubling in that time. In the past we have often purchased players at the point Brugges, Lens and West Ham did whilst they were still “uncut diamonds”. Has the club missed a trick in identifying them early or is it more of a conscious decision to allow them to develop in a first team structure and then pay a bit more but get a more finished player?
I did wonder previously if Spurs should have let Brennan Johnson come to us and let us do the development (if we could) then pay a higher fee but get the finished article.

Re your last point, there was an excellent piece on Talksport (I know, surprising in itself) where the panel made that exact point. That the biggest clubs would do well to wait for well run clubs like us to develop potential targets and then pay more for the finished article in a couple of years time.Three of our last high profile signings - Thiago, Sangare and Diouf, were all at their previous clubs for one season only, with their value more than doubling in that time. We also do try and get in earlier, as mentioned above, in with the youngsters who show promise. Much less of an outlay, but far less guarantee that they will develop as hoped. You can add the likes of Meghoma and Arthur to those you have mentioned and there will be plenty more. We might throw £5m-£10m as these kind of players and see it as worth it; if one becomes a 'super talent' they make the team, improve it and a mega sale later generates ££££. If they don't, they get loaned out, with a 2nd chance to make it back to us a better player. If they still don't, they are sold on, without losing massive amounts. Just listen to me! Casually chucking '£5m-£10m' on youngsters like it's loose change! £10m would have been a record transfer just 5 years ago for us.We apparently were tracking all 3 before they signed for the clubs from which we eventually signed them. Not aware of the reasons why we didn't take a punt, which has cost around an additional £70M for them based on the reported fees to develop a further year.
I feel the early identification of exceptional young talent from outside the UK will be another layer of our recruitment moving forward. Brighton have been doing it successfully and farming them out on loan for first team experience before bringing them into the Premier League. We have started to do this with Kim Ji-Soo , Benjamin Frederick, Gustavo Nunes and Darwin Guagua. The upside is the saving of paying inflated transfer fees a season or two later for a Premier League ready player, the downside is not all these young talents develop as hoped.
Is there not also instances where we are unable to move on some players at foreign clubs due to them no complying with work permit rules and needing to build towards compliance in other leagues. Not that he was the prime target for any English club involved, but it was mentioned that part of the El Mala transfer conundrum was that his brother didn't qualif, as a fotballer, for a work permit. It was also mentioned a while back that Bryan M wouldn't have qualified if we had been trying to sign him at the same step in the ladder a few years later than we did.Three of our last high profile signings - Thiago, Sangare and Diouf, were all at their previous clubs for one season only, with their value more than doubling in that time. I'm all seriousness, what is his position and what are his attributes that we don't have?Personally, I'd like Fábio to be kept in our squad, we don't have a player with his attributes. I think, once the v1.0 match 16 is up to speed and Keith is comfortable, we'll start to develop a v1.1 alternative version that has a different playing style/formation to give us an unpredictable alternative. Fábio will be one of the attacking players in that.
I think we are also in a position now, playing in the top half of the 'best league in the world' TM where we cant afford for players to learn their trade with us.......if the next 19 year old Bryan Mvuembo was availble now, would we sign him and give him a run in the team straight away as we pretty much did when he joined us.Yes.
This is essentially what we also do, albeit lower down the food chain. It's a more reliable purchase to spend, say, £30m on a Thiago or £7m on a Toney or £40m on a Sangare, when a lot of the development has already been done, but there is still room to develop further and still double our money on a future transfer.

On a larger scale, it is something Chelsea have perfected over time - hoover up all the young talent, loan it out here, there and everywhere, with hardly any making the grade at Chelsea. Interesting that they went in hard on this policy, a couple of years ago giving huge contracts on lower wages, but have now pressed pause, as the desire for instant success outweighs the longer-term planning required.
I remember reading an interview with MB in the last few months at some point, stating that with the youngest players, BFC rely more on the scouting reports, as what data is available is either unreliable at that age or there just isn't much of it! Because players are still growing physically at that age, these will be two good reasons why there is no exact science to a player being identified as a 'nailed on star' at 17 or 18. If it was, everyone would try and do it. I would guess that the more kids you bring in using the info you have, the better 'hit' rate you get further down the line.
From what I’ve seen, he plays the ball on the ground, has close control and dribbles and weaves through defenders. We’re good at exploiting space but no so much in tight spaces.I'm all seriousness, what is his position and what are his attributes that we don't have?
Good point. And you know the answer. No, the 19 year old Bryan would not start in our PL team - he'd be following a similar model to Donovan, maybe. And that may mean, that he might not develop as well as he did, as he got first team exposure and experience from the off. If we signed the 2016 Rico Henry now, he probably wouldn't get a look in. He grew into the team and they all improved together. No time to do that in the PL. Players like Meghoma, Gustavo and Arthur would have thrived with us in the championship with us. They still might in the PL, but it's harder.I think we are also in a position now, playing in the top half of the 'best league in the world' TM where we cant afford for players to learn their trade with us.......if the next 19 year old Bryan Mvuembo was availble now, would we sign him and give him a run in the team straight away as we pretty much did when he joined us.
So to me, KLP, Dams, Jensen, and Sangare are all excellent in tight spaces. Dango and Kayode to a certain extent as well. I'm not saying Carv isn't worth keeping, but I'm not sure he has a unique skill set. I also think he's not quite a 10 and not quite a winger, so I don't know where he plays in our system. From what I’ve seen, he plays the ball on the ground, has close control and dribbles and weaves through defenders. No paceAlways wonder if we have ever been interested in him?
Similar to what we have but still a cracking player IMO.
It’s all a hierarchy. Lens buy sangare for cheap and develop him, we then buy him for a lot of money and develop him some more and then a real big team buys him off us as a fully functioning quality PL player and we’ve doubled or trebled our moneyThree of our last high profile signings - Thiago, Sangare and Diouf, were all at their previous clubs for one season only, with their value more than doubling in that time. I’d be amazed if at least two out of Ji-soo, Meghoma or Nunes don’t leave either on loan or permanently. No outgoings?
For youth loans I think Meghoma is a dead cert, Nunes and Furo also seem likely to me. Ji-Soo I think might be sold, last year of his contract (+1 yr option) and there's so much competition at CB. Fredrick I think may be injured still? So I can see him staying to finish his recovery and then til Jan he'll be that 5th CB option, might get a little run out at RB in the odd cup game as well.No outgoings?
Again, from what I've seen, which is not a lot, I'd say he's better than those in tight situations inside the box. I think Fábio is what I think Lee Dykes calls a 9a; a player who plays off the 9 inside the box. We've never played with that set-up but I suppose the next step forward, once we've got the 4-2-3-1 sorted, will be an option to change our style of play/formation to be unpredictable. So, it's not how he plays in our system but how we can switch to another when necessary.
Again, not trying to knock him. I'm very curious to see how he is coming off this injury and we don't know how the coaches have been developing him. I hope it works out.
He's good at finding space, timing his runs into the box and he's a good finisher. Ideal as a number two striker in day a 4-4-2 type formation.I'm all seriousness, what is his position and what are his attributes that we don't have?
But they haven’t taken into account Wissa & Mbeumo are additional to the net spend as they fall into current accounting periodCurrently the 6th highest net spenders in the country
10th highest in the world

Long way from signing Chris Moore!Currently the 6th highest net spenders in the country

I do think that the uefa restrictions are going to be the hardest thing for us to overcome if we qualify for Europe because the revenue that we have just makes it difficult to hit that 70% numberAnd also what position the club is in for UEFA Financial Sustainability regulations.
As always, I am sure Phil, Matthew, Lee et al have it fully nailed down.
But our spending in this 26-27 season may mean we don't need to splash out so much in the two subsequent seasons.I do think that the uefa restrictions are going to be the hardest thing for us to overcome if we qualify for Europe because the revenue that we have just makes it difficult to hit that 70% number
I’m sure FC must fit one of our 16 (or however many it is) positions on the pitch. We all know he’s a good player, he just needs to take the opportunity when it comes. He's good at finding space, timing his runs into the box and he's a good finisher. Ideal as a number two striker in day a 4-4-2 type formation.
Unfortunately for him we seldom play like that.
We made so much the previous two I imagine we’ll be fine for ages. But our spending in this 26-27 season may mean we don't need to splash out so much in the two subsequent seasons.

This guy is allegedly up and down in terms of reliability (Indykalia that is, though some say Schade is the same... ) has had the odd exclusive IIRC. even if we were OK with selling not really sure Arsenal need him or would want him at this stage.
Or negotiating with Arsenal for Schade.I guess thats us done with PG and the team already down the pub.

I’d be quite happy wid dat.Get Max Beier in and I reckon we will be fine if Kev leaves![]()
