He does this after a long enough run in the starting 11. It's not the first time. Previously he maintains an amazingly high level until something breaks and he is injured for a while, then takes a long time to reach top end again. I am really hoping that chief Keith manages MJs game time to avoid injury.

High class player playing at his peak in a more forward position. Matty wouldn't look out of place at Arsenal, Man City etc etc.

Seriously, seriously good.

He did this weird move to manipulate the ball for a pass in the first half and it's was just unbelievable. Bit like a snooker trickshot!

Saw that after today he’s now only 24 appearances away from 300 for the club. Who was the most recent player to hit that milestone for us? King Kev?

Some effort from Matti, especially given the quality he’s maintained in his performances throughout.

Thought he was excellent today. Takes some player to keep Damsgaard out the team but he’s doing that right now and rightly so.

The most notable improvement for me recently has been his willingness to employ block tackles to gain and retain possession of the ball. His imperious form continues...

Enjoy it while it lasts......currently looks like the last season we will have together!

Jensen has been getting better with age, and although he has one year left in his contract, I think he is the type of player who doesn’t rely on pace, but technique and speed of thought. He should stay with us until he retires.

He seems to have toughened up generally. I used to regard him as a great ball player but a bit lightweight, not ideal for our current style of play. Not any more, another one who has really worked on his upper body from the look of him with his shirt off after games.

This has been the case for a while to be fair to Matty. I would often criticise him for being weak in duels, but he’s been solid now for a good bit.

I hope this isnt too serious. He's been fantastic lately and is able to play the 10 role with more calm and control to his game than Dams. A bit less chaotic on the ball.

He was very good leading the press v Spurs which is something that Damsgaard has excelled at 👍

We missed him today, IMO been as good as Damsgaard recently, with better physicality. Would be very sorry to see him escape through the window before it shuts.
👍
Reckon if he'd been available to come on for MD, or had started and MD come on, we'd have 3 points tonight rather than 1.

Think if Jensen had started we'd have made more of our dominance in the first half.

It’s a shame MJ has an injury. The option to switch between him and MD will be vital this season.
Is it a long term injury or just a knock? If it's the former we may need to sign another midfielder.

Thought Keith's description of his injury was vague in the extreme. Concerning.
As soon as a player drops out of match-day availability, he's erased from the coaches minds, pre-match. Only one focus.

Jensen will miss out against Sunderland, Andrews confirms, after picking up a minor injury. “We'll just see how he settles over the next couple of weeks. Nothing serious."

Probably a transfer to Turkey or Saudi
I hope not, with the way he's been playing. Sound like an injury to miss 4-6 weeks, if we anticipate him coming back after the international break. Likely a minor sprain/strain, and we are deep/healthy enough that there is no reason to push him back early. Let him rest as much as possible and come back at the same level that he has been of late, with no lingering issue from it.

Indeed. If he is going to have an injury, then one that includes an International Break is decent timing.

In the meanwhile, who replaces Damsgaard after 60 or so minutes?
Couple of thoughts: Carvalho could, though I'm not sure he's quite ready in terms of his health. Keano could step into an attacking midfield role if necessary... I could see a world where he is able to take that advanced midfield role and come on as a sub with Rico/Diouf starting. Our best move other than that would probably be Janelt or Sangare stepping farther up the pitch with Hickey backfilling the midfield along with Yarmoliuk, until Carvalho and Milambo are ready to play.

I want to say Yarmoliuk could play farther up the pitch but he's so hesitant to shoot and not the best progressive passer, so I think he's best using his physical tools as one of the midfield pivots.
