Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

What are people talking about with saying it isn’t a pen?

The defender puts his whole foot onto the top of Schade’s foot.

I am unsure in what world that wouldn’t/shouldn’t be a foul? What is he meant to do?

And for anyone saying he went down theatrically, answer me this: how often do refs give pens when the attacker doesn’t go down? I can’t remember many/any.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

After that first half performance, it's natural to feel disappointed that we only managed to come away with a point but we're unbeaten and we've shown the league that we are serious contenders this season. Let's move on and take out our frustrations on the Mackems next weekend.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Great first half, but please can we stop "resting" on a single goal. Fuming at the ref, delighted for Kev. We go again next week...
I’m not sure it’s intentional. Hard to keep up that kind of intensity and the oppo will always improve second half. Perhaps changes need to come sooner - we have enough depth now to attempt to sustain it perhaps.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Having seen it again, that's absolutely a penalty. He's not a great ref at the best of times, but thought he had a poor game.

I think we're going to have a very inconsistent season with penalties - the refs have been so over-reliant on VAR to bail them out and frequently avoided making difficult decisions. Now the bar for VAR interference has been raised, I can still see refs paralysed in their decision making. I reckon we're going to see some poor decisions throughout the season... particularly for those smaller sides against bigger ones, or not in favour for away teams.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Here comes first self-inflicted wound of the season. First we began to ease off a bit, and then Farke saturated the midfield which almost completely neutralised Janelt and Sangare. I'm afraid KA was slow to react and paid the price. But the first half was a joy to my eyes. When we are on and set up perfectly we are a match to anybody in the EPL. To have so many interchangable options for the starting 11 is a pleasant headache for any manager.

Quite agree KA very slow to react. If we are going to play at that pace then the Bench has to be used earlier.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

For me the question is: would Schade have gone down anywhere else on the pitch? If the answer is no then we don't really have a case if we want the game to be played in the right spirit.
I'm afraid he has a reputation for going down at the slightest touch everywhere on the pitch. You would've thought now his arm is better his balance would improve. Battled well to score the goal. Keep that up Herr Kev. Oh and it was a penalty. 22 shots 5 on target needs to improve.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

my overall impression was that because we were so good in the first half we became complacent believing our flicks and tricks would create the chances required.

Our crosses were below standard and often we made the wrong decisions in the final 3rd.

That being said the foul on Kevin is clear for all to see and in my opinion was a clear penalty, I would hazard a guess it would be given at the other end. Not impressed by the officials who seemed to be reactive to the pressure from the Leeds crowd.

Would have accepted a point, feels disappointing it wasn’t 3 however it is clear to see that we have a damn good squad and are a team to be reckoned with

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

I said I would be satisfied with a point but feel a bit agreieved that it wasn't 3, for the life of me I can't see how that wasn't a penalty on Schade, Bogle definitely caught him and brought him down, the ref was a total homer though, Rodon hacked Schade down twice inside the first 10 minutes and got nothing slightest touch by us and it was a free kick and the bookings were to be quite honest very debatable considering what they got away with.
At least that pr**k Wilson didn't score for once

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

The commentary on the feed I was watching. Every fouls we didn't get was a coming together..especially the foul on Schade.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

A word for the travelling Bees; they had the usual Bank Holiday travel bulls*it to put up with and they made a great noise, all I could hear until they scored. Fans plus players really killed their so-called 'atmosphere'.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Very good first half. Lots of touches in the opponents box. Should have scored more than 1. Leeds were game and battled back into it in the second half. I don’t know what a foul is if standing on someone’s foot is OK. Ridiculous.

Some very good performances. Sangare strong in and out of possession, Collins rock solid and Janelt played very well again. Kelleher made some very good saves.

Dissapointed with a point.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Disappointing and after the great first half the second half was not a great showing.

The initial subs IMO made us worse.

Decision making in the final third needed to be better.

Unlucky.
Yep, agree with that. We really did little to counter them flooding the midfield. And although it was right to sub Dams, we didn't have a creative midfielder to replace him with, with Jensen out. If we were going to match up in midfield, maybe Hickey could have come on earlier with Yarmo to pack the middle and gone with 2 up top instead.

I think Diouff will get his chance soon - although our goal came from a KLP cross, our crossing wasn't great all afternoon.

As you say, decision making could be better too. Some missed opportunities.

But in the first half everything was coming through KLP as against Spurs. He had more touches than any other player. Not sure he is droppable atm.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

The lesson learned is all in scoring more when we were completely dominant. It was clear as day that Farke was going to change at half time the multi-layered defence he started with and push forward with the midfield and we didn't react/organise in response, so ended up conceding and looking very ragged. Too little, too late and we lost the initiative we had in the first half.

Still, a point's a point and we're still unbeaten. On to next Saturday.

"Resting"??!!
Like we did v Spurs and Brum??!!
🤣

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Good game and nothing wrong with coming out with a point at Elland TF. That said better final ball at set pieces and open play would have given us a commanding lead at half time, on that respect we missed Jensen

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

I think Vitaly got booked before he started 'dissenting'. He quite rightly could not understand why the hell he'd been booked.
He dissented immediately before continuing conversation with ref. Foul was given to us, Vitaly thought Leeds player should be booked, as ours were for similar offences

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Just seen a foul given on Fernandes that was identical in every way.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Overall, a point at Elland Road is OK, although we could have had all 3, and Leeds should be pleased they got something out of it. TBH, I was fearful Wilson was going to ruin it all for us, and that free kick in injury time they got I thought was going to gift them 3 points at the death. The problem with the Schade penalty call is that he generally over-acts on fouls, so it’s a bit like ‘the boy who cries wolf’, as ref’s are aware. Schade generally had a good game though. We move on and if you don’t win, just make sure you don’t lose comes to mind on this one.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Wasn't able to see the game today but watched the 3 mins highlights which didn't tell me a lot! Sounds like decent first half, faded in the second? The penalty shout...not a stonewall but it's a foul inside the box. Maybe VAR would've got involved last season, seems like they're trying not to this (which is a good thing IMO!), but disappointing the onfield ref didn't give it. We got a softer one last week when we didn't need it, but hey ho!

Fair enough about Schade giving the impression of going down easily from the point of view of the ref's immediate reaction. But it's VAR's job to divorce the impression from the actual foul which definitely occurred.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

That was some first half! Just missed the end-product, final pass mostly.

Second-half the gulf between the teams got closer, whether they got better or we didn’t maintain the first half is debatable, think it was a bit of both.

Janelt and most of Kev’s game was outstanding. Collins, ending aside, was a colossus. Did think Igor looked leggy, perhaps last season and World Cup has caught up with him.

But for me it’s all about Sangaré, the football intelligence and ability to pick a ball hasn’t been seen since Christian Eriksen - enjoy him now as we are going to triple our money when he eventually leaves.

Also, Leeds fans are horrible c***wombles.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Bit of a disappointing last 20 but other than that we were miles better than them. Most Leeds fans are very optimistic about their team this year so shows the level we’re at.

The drop off seemed to start when Damsgaard came off, could be a coincidence but he was very good today.

I don't see how he could have stayed up as the defender was standing on his foot!

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

That first half was prime Beecelona —one goal doesn’t reflect how in charge we were, and Schade’s outside-of-the-boot flick around the corner of his defender into the net was classy.
Second half we started well imo, but they grew into the game just as we had players tiring. In hindsight, I agree with others that fresh legs sooner might’ve helped us sustain their pressure second half.

You’re not wrong about the pen at their end, he would definitely have given it. We were robbed.

We want it reffed fairly, not much to ask. The Leeds player misjudged it and took Kevin’s foot. Whether he stumbles on or not is not ghe question, his progress was impeded therefore penalty. As my old football coach used to say ‘why are you acting the Parish Priest?’

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

It was a great first half in terms of control. The greatest part is that they had absolutely no chance of scoring becayse we denied them any grip on the game. That sort of performance for 90 minutes would generally edge games. Despite this, controversial comment, but we didn't actually create that much in terms of goalscoring opportunities that would have elevated it to a top half. There was a final pass/cross missing.

Second half we lost control a bit and fair play to Leeds for wrestling that back and making changes. We actually had more clear cut chances that the first half as a result as there was more variance with both teams attacking. The subs we bring on never weaken us and as the season progresses that will be a huge advantage for us over other clubs we face.

Overall i'm really pleased with that away performance against a decent team! Really feels like Europe is a possibility.

Leeds made 2 changes at half time and dominated first 15 of 2nd half as they changed shape to get more bodies in MF, we then came back into it. However once they got their goal they got back on top having made further attacking substitutions. Our substitutions were to try and stop their momentum and turn them over on break, which we nearly did.
Had Collins not stuck a leg out to try and deflect cross on goal, Calvert Lewin would have been offside 🙈, although it was a natural defenders instinct to do it

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Leeds came back into the game but we showed immense character after they scored, and I think our teams of previous seasons go on to lose that when the home fans get behind them. We looked far more likely to win it and created all the chances after they scored. But for two horrendous decisions (the penalty - yes it clearly was one; and the very generous foul the lino flagged Igor for after he was clean through - still no idea why) we would have won. Very impressive away performance at a tough place to take points. Got to be proud of the way this team has started the season 🙌

I wouldn’t say they dominated the first 15 mins of the second half, they had more of the ball but didn’t really do anything with it.

Being picky, but i think Collins should have done better to be closer to the player who put the cross in.

Just like us the final ball let them down, the point though is their changes at half time stopped our MF dominating.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

I thought we looked very good 1st half ✅

Leeds upped their levels, ours dropped a little and they scored. It's tough at Elland Rd when they get a head of steam up 👍

Good game, good point and good performance overall 💯

Very exciting times ahead I think 🤞
Yes, we're certainly playing some very exciting dynamic football.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Probably in most other seasons, a draw away at Leeds would seem a very good result.

Such was our initial control of the game that this almost felt like a defeat.

However, all credit to what was a really good performance, with fast flowing football, and quite a few chances to get that extra 2nd goal.

No surprise that referee Harrington failed to give what looked like a clear penalty on Schade, and then gives a yellow for an innocuous foul by Janelt.

I’ve mentioned this before, but there does seems to be an over balance from "Up Norf" of PL referees.

Harrington comes from Yorkshire, and where is Leeds?! But obviously it would be wrong ro say that he was affected by the home crowd.

Also it is interesting that, as far as I know, there isn’t one single PL referee from the biggest city area in England i.e. London, including out to the M25.

I know, just clutching at straws, but we look set to have a very memorable season.

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Feel gutted to be honest after that first half domination but you always know that they can’t be as bad second half. So it proved. Such fine margins in the PL. I thought some of our passing wasn’t as precise early second half and we invited pressure when there was no need. Still, we held out. A more pleasing point for them than us but it’s a very solid start. Outstanding first half, we were so on top. Only disappointed we didn’t get a second and kill them off.

Only disappointed? I had another, a Referee who did not give us the opportunity of a second by ignoring a deliberate stamp in the penalty area!

Leeds 1 - 1 Brentford (Schade)

Good game. Great atmosphere. Top performance certainly first half. Shame Dams came off. That took something away from our attacking impetus but they were stepping things up so it was always going to be tough with just the one goal
We look a very good team. Sangare is a superstar!

Tim Howard on the US broadcast crew called it a clear penalty. Schade's brilliant goal came against the most expensive keeper in Premier League history (40M GBP). Trafford is also the 4th most expensive in the world..

Tough to get too disappointed when looking at the end of day table in a Champions League spot. Time to take it to Sunderland at home!

Surely not the most expensive GK. Chelsea paid the GDP of a small country for Kepa.
