Transfer Discussion including Suggestions (Brentford Only)

I just think with all the supportive and encouraging noises Andrews is making about him he feels there’s a role for him here. I certainly wouldn’t loan him out now.

Transfer Discussion including Suggestions (Brentford Only)

why on earth would we loan him out, when it is perhaps one area on the field we are lighter than others?!
Agree, just runs down another year of his contract and makes no sense without an extension as it reduces his value. If he doesn’t fit, then look to move on permanently, but I think he’ll be a useful player this year and will finally make his mark, albeit is going to take him a few months.

Personally, I'm not convinced Carvalho is right for us. But why on earth would we loan him out, when it is perhaps one area on the field we are lighter than others?!
I agree. I can imagine Carvalho moving on eventually if not a good a good fit here but it would be a surprise for him not to stay in the first team squad at this stage.

Hull often seem to get linked to fanciful things that sound great to their fans and don't even come close to coming off, I think somebody leaks tidbits of nonsense because they think it makes them sound ambitious.
They spent a month allegedly trying to loan Dervisoglu who was never going there and went to Burnley, but was Turkish and they like Turkish players.
They sold us KLP and then "tried" to "ambitiously" take him back on almost straightaway... no chance.

I can't say I'm against this to be honest. The lad has been out for a while & a season at a PL club will get him fitter & stronger than a season of sitting on our bench and playing the odd minute here or there.

My only concern, is that despite Hull's fantastic start, just how much of an influence will he be at a club that will predominantly be on the back foot.

I agree, but another midfielder wouldn’t go amiss 😃
Hopefully Carvalho can offer real competition for the advanced midfield role and may well be Hickey will start to play more minutes in CDM role. And we need YY up to speed sooner rather than later, but in essence I agree with you although we don’t tend to do last minute deals so see it as unlikely.

Im with you, let him go I reckon.

We almost always only agree loans for senior players with an equivalent extension. Done that fairly frequently, wouldn’t imagine it’d be a blocker here.

So Fabio becomes the latest in a long list of ‘failures’ written off after a few appearances. He is in illustrious Bees company (even in our current team Dams, Matti and Schade were all duds once).
I hope he stays and our brilliant coaching team define his role for him to flourish.
Personally I think the Hull stuff is stirred by his Dad

If we're playing this game my prediction is 0 incomings and 3 outgoings (1 permanent, 2 loans)

Think we're done for incoming. Would love Kevin to sign an extension though to top off a wonderful window
Normally, transfer extensions are sorted after Phil has returned from his transfer window R&R and reviews the squad.

Looking at all the carnage at Hull, Sunderland, Chelsea etc, I’m so glad we don’t work like that.

It can’t be good for teams to have 3 or 4 coming in and loads leaving when the season has already started

I would’ve liked to have found suitors for Soo and Nunes.
Hopefully that means they've got an opportunity in the first team squad. No Pinnock means Kim Ji-Soo steps up for example, if he's fit now? Had two injuries in Germany according to Wiki.

Nunes might be harder to understand as it sounds like the loan wasn't that successful.

I’m not convinced. When SvdB is back that’ll be Collins, SvdB, Ajer and Schuster ahead of him. Would need a CB injury crisis for him to even make the bench.

Ji-Soo played yesterday for the B team 👍

Gustavo and Ji-Soo’s best chance of a move will be using the EFL Trophy games as a shop window…

The match reports from the behind closed doors friendlies suggested he had a really good pre season, and personally thought he was quite impressive when watching the U21s yesterday.

He spent the vast majority of his first 18 months here prior to that Swansea loan injured. Even if it’s just U21s minutes until we get a few injuries, a bit of continuity and consistent game time will probably do him a lot of good. Easy to forget he’s still only 20 years old.

There’s evidently a very talented footballer in there, and he still has 4 years + 2 year option left on the very long contract we gave him. Fingers crossed he keeps up form with the U21s and we potentially see him in the squad vs Reading.

While he's not back, just another injury and a red card away from being on the pitch.

A week ago some people were saying maybe we couldn't afford to let Pinnock go in case another player joined Sepp on the treatment table 😵‍💫 not enough cover vs. too much cover... we are possibly one more defensive injury from having him on the bench at the moment. Schuster and Pinnock on the bench against Spurs, Diouf instead on Sunday. You could say it's notable we preferred a third full back on the bench rather than a second CB - but the B team game might already have been the plan before Diouf signed this week.

Anyway. It might simply be another six months in TW8 is better for his development than another loan move at the moment, after a year here and then a year away. Lead the U21/B team defence as a slightly over age player... see where he stands in January.

Furo staying is sensible for everyone. Wilson is still a very good finisher but injury prone and 34, so I'd be surprised if he starts many games this season. We should manage Thiago's minutes much more than we did last season, when he looked knackered by May, and that means having two CFs in reserve, one at each end of their career. I fancy us for cup runs this season which will provide more opportunities.

yeah good point , a not fully experienced, fit Furo and an experienced finisher like Calum is better than flogging a knackered Igor

Good point.

After all, if Furo left, who else of any standing would want to come to Bees and sit on the bench watching Thiago start every single game when he's fit?

As it was, the club did very well to sign up Wilson, I can't see there being another suitable back-up available.

Do you think PG has put his phone on silent , shut his office door and enjoying a well earned tipple in a pub overlooking the river , enjoying a superb transfer window ?

Assumed so, not linked with anyone today and probably the only PL team with zero airtime.. under the radar we fly.
