Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

Seems a bit pointless.

A loan is absolutely the right move for him, but he lost his starting spot at Rangers after they signed Rommens in January. Would rather send him somewhere else where we can trust he’ll be starting every week and properly develop, unless the new manager, unlike Rohl, prefers Jayden to Rommens.

Many people commented that it was a good loan for Jayden last year. I thought not for the reason pointed out by @TOXIC BEE .

And while there is a new manager, based on his early results he may not have longevity.

At that said and with the present LB options plus a rumour maybe he feels he needs to move somewhere

Rommens is injured for a while

40ish games at a massive club with their deluded demands, sounds like a fantastic loan with all the development opportunities 👍

With Rico, Hickey, and KLP able to play there, it seems likely we might want meghoma out on loan, not sure rangers is the right option though

Fair comment in reply to my post.

It was ‘disappointing’ someone was brought in for that position in the winter window and maybe a reflection on the way Jayden was playing in a lower level Premier league standard?

For sure the minutes he had in front of big crowds and a hostile, sometimes toxic, atmosphere will have benefited him.

If this is correct, it seems the club don't rate him enough to be in the first team squad. The loan will get him experience and generate a transfer fee a year down the line.

Sadly, due to the poor quality of the SPL, I don't see him coming back as a sufficiently better player to challenge for the first team, even though he'll have more experience.

A bit disappointing. Didn't we pay about £10m for him?

He’s only just turned 20.

Or that the powers that be think that another season of more regular game time is more beneficial than a couple of cup games and sitting on our bench if he even makes that.

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

This is what I wrote last year....

"I'm sure he knows what he is letting himself in for. The positives are that he should be getting regular game time, something he didn't get last season, and that he should be developing his game against some teams with good European pedigree about them. The negatives are that he is entering a club operating in an unstable environment, both on and off the pitch, and that he'll be developing his game against domestic opposition of variable quality......."

I don't really see the benefit for him to return there this season really. He got some game time but probably not as much as both he and us would have wanted.

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

My point is there loads of time for him to develop.

There certainly is, including the option we do not have to sell him until the summer of 2029. I cannot see what the fuss is about, Rangers, or whoever takes him on loan pay his wages. He either develops enough to play in the Premier League or we sell him for a profit. Any profit will notionally be put towards a future transfer fee for some other player. We have to get used to this sort of loan.

Nothing is point less, Good footballers build character, train very hard, learn from experienced pro's, they develop new skills, stay fit and then win thier place back/shirt in the team. Taking oppertunities makes and can breaks a proffesional footballer. The mindset of a profesional footballer is very different to most fans.

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

The reporters trying to make a storey , but there maybe some thing in this FC Brugge are the Belgium version of us. Buy young talent , develop and sell on for a vast profit .We shouldn't let him go , only a loan maybe

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

I hope the club would only consider a loan. Perhaps a 2 season loan if they wanted him for longer?

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

They are irritating. Every thread is rendered unreadable as posters' just continue to build on each pun.
But another successful loan for Jayden Meg might pave his way into the Bees first team picture next season?

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

Another transfer rumour chucked in the mixer. Maybe get in some reinforcements and smooth things over. We'll be set after that.

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

Because we are so much more forgiving, I remember the undying support Trotta got the first time he missed a decent chance.
And don't forget Darren Pratley hates Fulham

Jayden Meghoma (Portsmouth)

Their first choice LB Connor Ogilvie apparently out til around October, their other natural leftback, Jacob Farrell, is perennially injured and was most recently loaned out to Western Sydney Wanderers, and at the moment they're starting natural RB Zak Swanson in that position. If Jayden performs at his best he should have a free run at making the position his for about a month
