Origins of 'Just a Bus Stop in Hounslow'?
I heard a rumor some time ago that it originated from some QPR fans, but I wondered if anyone had a definitive answer?
Was that when the local 'Iseenu' tribe caused a bit of a bust-up?I believe it's based on a Latin phrase of frustration, used several times by the Romans as they tried to Ford the Thames at Brenteforde.
The locals known as the Old Brickies tried to defend the crossing but were no match for the trained Roman's in anything other than drinking games. Was that when the local 'Iseenu' tribe caused a bit of a bust-up?

That's what I have always thought.I could be completely wrong, but I thought it originated from QPR fans singing it to us when we were beaten 3-2 a few years ago.
He quite likes us. He even read out a come on you Bees request from me before the Chelsea home game..............a certain Robert Elms kept mentioning his upcoming fixtures with us in this manor..............
I thought it was a game we won...they sang it when it was 0 0 and then we repeated it when we went ahead?I could be completely wrong, but I thought it originated from QPR fans singing it to us when we were beaten 3-2 a few years ago.
I thought it was the 3-0 spanking we got in 2016 there. Could well be wrong.I thought it was a game we won...they sang it when it was 0 0 and then we repeated it when we went ahead?
Problem is there have been so many victories over them, on and off the field, since Djuricin Night (?) there have been so many it is hard to remember which game it was
Funnily enough I sang that on Sunday when I went past on my way to see my Mum in ChichesterI recall us chanting 'you're just a carpark in Gatwick' at Crawley back in League two at GP.
I'm certain it was the 3-2 loss at theirs in 2018. Then in the reverse fixture we stuffed them 3-0 and it morphed into "you're getting f*cked by a bus stop". I think it properly took off after that.I thought it was the 3-0 spanking we got in 2016 there. Could well be wrong.
Didn't we sing "You're just a bus stop in Fulham" at Chelsea during the 2-2 FA Cup game at GP?I recall us chanting 'you're just a carpark in Gatwick' at Crawley back in League two at GP.
It was defo the 3-2 game…I was right next to em ?I'm certain it was the 3-2 loss at theirs in 2018. Then in the reverse fixture we stuffed them 3-0 and it morphed into "you're getting f*cked by a bus stop". I think it properly took off after that.
3 - 2 game definitelyIt was defo the 3-2 game…I was right next to em ?
So was I, they were going nuts in that corner. It was defo the 3-2 game…I was right next to em ?
When we beat them 3-1 at home in the following season we sang "You're getting f***ed by a bus stop"I recall we sang ‘2-0 to the bus stop boys’ in the game following that unfortunate defeat.
lets avoid the word Trump in this august forum pleaseThat’s trumped me!! ?
Seems like a strange thing to have an agenda aboutA song that now needs to be consigned to history.
It made an appearance at home to Tottenham.Definitely miss this chant, don't understand why some people want it binned and forbidden.
The management strongly agree. It was having a negative effect when trying to sign players I think.Whilst I enjoyed it when we got promoted and the first couple of years but now it's not the image of how we should feel about our club. Small, family orientated fearless but not this way of describing our club now.
I missed it then, certainly was a great example of when to use it!It made an appearance at home to Tottenham.
I don't think so anymore, it's like singing 'how sh*t must you be, we're winning at home'I missed it then, certainly was a great example of when to use it!
Those other clubs can sing it again next time they finished above us then. We're a top Premier League club in West London sounds much better. (Although some other clubs may be able to make this claim.)
Well we were TOP west London prem club last seasonWe're a top Premier League club in West London sounds much better. (Although some other clubs may be able to make this claim.)

Agreed.A song that now needs to be consigned to history.
Singing it or not, won't change the fact it's still a club that will be seen as small ground/fan base. To be fair, there is some data that supports that, and I'd still rather that label than the aristocratic deluded/entitled/posh other clubs think they deserve.I think it's OK as an underdog song and especially to rub it in when we are beating one of the big boys... but I don't miss it especially either. We're not going to stop being seen as a small club either way.
The club obviously didn't think so when TF was using it in interviews or when they were printing in on merchandise to sell.I don't think so anymore, it's like singing 'how sh*t must you be, we're winning at home'
I used to cringe when I heard TF refer to it in interviews when we were an established PL club. The club obviously didn't think so when TF was using it in interviews or when they were printing in on merchandise to sell.
I can accept that perceptions change, after all we gave up singing "we're the Barcelona of the lower leagues".... the fun aspect of it is still valid in some of our minds though.
