Do any other clubs do this sort of thing? It's very decent of them :) mind you the guy asking the questions could not sound more bored lol

Bravo, however I am very disappointed he wasn’t wearing a suit and alligator-skinned boots, smoking a cigar and sipping a cognac.
He was in the pic I saw!

Not sure what Phil said as I’m on the tube.

I hope he said “My people. You have just witnessed greatness. This is probably your best summer…..EVER”

I just wanted to thank Phil, Lee, MB and everyone else involved who’ve given us a magnificent transfer window, one that will hopefully turn out to be as successful as that of 2019.

These are exciting and monumental times to be a Brentford supporter and we have much to be grateful for.

Thanks again to everyone concerned.

I think this is a very good window but to say it’s our best ever is too early to say

The class of 2019 - Norgaard, Mbeumo, jansson, Jensen, pinnock and Raya have now proven to have been absolute giants of our club

I can’t see Anthony or Wilson being that. Maybe Malik and Schuster will be.

Sangare is an absolute coup of a signing and will be great for us but will he really be here in 4-5 years time if the hype is to be believed? This windows success seems to be based on signing this player

This window is what we needed now but still
Doesn’t beat 2019 - but time will tell

The window should also be judged on who didn't leave.

Compare the body language in the "interview" compared with his first couple of transfer window videos.

He's a man clearly now comfortable in his position and in his skin.

Despite the normal "closed" question style, Phil's gets his message across loud and clear here.

On the interview style. I can understand underarm balls to the players, but Phil is perfectly capable of answering open questions.

We all know we're in great hands, and this shows a lot of other people that we are.

Youve missed out Janelt!

I think in addition to all the great signings, there was incredible work done to get quality loans for the youngsters. Really amazing placements.
Let’s hope Romelle really kicks in at Sheffield United as he could save us a fortune next summer.

Great work Phil, but back to it. I am sure you're still figuring out your moves for the Summer 2031 window

Thanks Phil, best window since 2019? really like the balance of the squad, good cover in all positions, good balance of experience in a young squad and a route through injuries of 'fringe' youngsters like Nunes, Ji Soo and Fredrick.

I do wish the questions had been a little more open, but as Banana says he still managed to turn his answers into more of an overview regardless. Maybe we got a little less detail as a result though. I would have liked to have heard a little bit more about the Sangare deal and how that came about.

Always good to get these videos and keeping that connection to the fans is an important part of our culture.

Phil Giles's Summer 2026 Transfer Window Roundup

Did I hear right in that he said we're effectively using funds from last year (hence not selling this year) or did i imagine that?
And the year before. Two years of low net spend means we could afford to have a high net spend this year. A few sell on clauses helping out as well.

Its also about no outgoings. Keeping the existing highly skilled players, adding further quality, is just massive.

... and adding quality players who needed very little adjustment in Wilson and Anthony, plus Sangaré seems to have adjusted quickly.

Pheeeew!

I was fearing Arsenal signing or trying to sign Schade.

I wonder if we'll ever find out if they (Arse) enquired as per various rumours given Martinelli and Trossard moving on.

Bloody good window , good in comings and not lost any of our key players . Hope the loanees out are at the right clubs . Nunes didnt do too well last season

I think that was answered by a certain yellow fruit.

We are so lucky compared to, say, Everton, who seemed to run their window like a panicked contestant on Supermarket Sweep.
It seems like their recruitment was based on players from English clubs who were previously sold to clubs in other European leagues...

Broadly a very strong window - these things are perhaps best assessed after a few months of action, but it's hard not to get very excited about the business we've done. A huge amount of credit goes to Phil and his team on what looks like our best transfer window for years. No unwanted sales affecting our starting eleven, whilst adding both youthful talent and Premier League experience across the squad.

One thing that always strikes me as impressive is just the lack of drama amd noise that goes with our player acquisitions. Sometimes our hand is tested when it comes to selling players later in the window than is ideal - Wissa - but our subtle and understated approach to building our squad is genuinely incredible. Something that's made all the more difficult given that almost every signing of now played out in the press and on social media.

Think we've struck a lovely balance of keeping the spine together from last season, making some quality additions and not getting sucked into the stupid prices of this window. Well done phillip

Although some teams try to play games via the media to try to instigate an auction, West Ham I am looking at you, but PG seems very happy to play hard ball and walk away. Not sure if PG returned last week to ask if they were prepared to reconsider our offer for Diouf or they cracked and came back to us. Not that important but would be interesting to know.

@Banana alluded to what happened but can't remember on which thread or what it was.

I think he said circumstances changed, West Ham obviously unsuccessful in getting their apparently desired £50M. So just wondered if PG saw the opportunity to re table our lower bid or if West Ham came back to the only positive offer that came anywhere close to their valuation.

I’ve been saying we need a Sangaré type player for ages so I’m clearly super happy we’ve signed a top drawer one who’s brilliant from day one!

Similarly, whilst I still love Rico, I’ve been banging on about replacing good little’uns with good big-uns and Diouf has all the attributes to be just that.

With an old quality finisher to cover for Thiago, more options on the wing in Jaidon, plus an up and coming CB to challenge the incumbents, it’d hard not to be happy with this window!

Everything we needed really!

.... not sure I want to know PGs/BFCs dealings with other clubs... not sure it's any of my business...I like PGs overview....less words more action getting it done approach suits this Brentford supporter just fine.

Always enjoy listening to PG or MB speak as they are a great reminder of what a well run club we are and so different from nearly every other. It's also an opportunity to listen for any new snippet of information.

The one thing which particularly caught my attention was when speaking about Darwin Guagua. It has been fairly obvious but I think it's the first time I've explicitly heard the reason why MB bought Mérida. i.e. Phil said about sending Guagua out on loan was 'why ultimately Mérida was acquired'. He then spoke about their level in the Spanish leagues ...'we want to see them progress and move higher'. Thus implying he would like those sent on loan there to be playing at a better level.

I would have liked the interviewer to have followed up with 'was he specifically sent out on loan there would this be because of visa issues for Darwin?' but as has been mentioned earlier the questions weren't of a detailed probing nature. Anyway enjoyable update.

I'm guessing but wondering if it's easier to get a UK work permit for someone of his profile if he's had a year playing for a club in the EU.

I had assumed that the acquisition of Merida wasn't simply a means of encouraging foreign travel to the area? Strategic activity of this nature is no surprise to me. Smart guys at Smart Odds.
