Sepp van den Berg

Is that from the club or just the view off a very discredited, very angry so-called jounalist?
Until we hear something from KA I'm reserving judgement.

I don't think we're going to see him before the international break. We can presume he's been out for a little while so far so mid October sadly is 2-3 months from when the injury happened.

Sepp van den Berg

That’s a real blow, especially if we’re not going to see him until October; 5 games at least.

As long as we don't lose another one, we can get away with this. Obviously it's not ideal to lose him, but you won't usually get through a pre-season without losing someone. At least it's in a position we can cover.

Suspect will mean club will not look to sell Ethan this window especially if he looks sharp in pre season.

Sepp van den Berg

... and Ethan can actually hit the target when he gets a free header at a corner.

Hurrumph.

Agreed. SvdB is a big loss but Collins, Ajer, Pinnock, Schuster and others have this covered.
We certainly have it covered but, IMHO, no other CB has his calm simplicity (and stats) in doing the job under pressure without fuss… although we’ve yet to see what Schuster is like.

KA was certainly playing up Schuster performance Saturday morning. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him start against Frankfurt

Was hearing 3 months initially, hopefully will be back after the first international break I would imagine

I noticed another KA quote recently. In football speak, there is absolutely no difference between ‘invaluable’ and ‘valuable’ minutes. He used both…
Haha...wasn't sure if this was a Keithism or just very poor journalism by Jon Harland

Sepp van den Berg

Presumably the timeframe is better than expected as we only have 3 fit CBs now that Ethan is leaving...given the international break is soon I'd expect to see him back after that.

same as "inflammable" and "flammable".

SSN reporting his younger, younger brother, Joel, was on the Celtic team coach tonight. Deadline Day over the border, so he must be signing/signed for them.
Is that his younger brother or his brother's younger brother?

Based on this and assuming no set backs from here, you'd hope he'd be available immediately after the international break.
My professional opinion as an IT guy is that looks highly optomistic.

I'd be surprised. Someone still at that level of recovery is some way off. He doesn't look like he's anywhere close to ball work on the grass yet. Even once he's back to full fitness he'll presumably need something of a pre season too. That looks to me like he's perhaps a couple of months away.

Keep him working towards maximum fitness and resilience to be ready for the hard games after Liverpool!

From KAs press conference:

“Sepp van den Berg, meanwhile, is expected to return after the international break as he continues his rehabilitation from a groin injury.

“Sepp is making really good progress,” said Andrews. “He’s been back on the grass for the last week or 10 days, so he’s getting there.

“He’s in a good place to come back after the international break. That’s realistic.”

Great news - sounds like we could have a few back after the international break to strengthen the squad even further, will be real competition just to make the matchday squad.

Nice clear and unambiguous statement from Chief Keith, which I think fans appreciate. I often felt Thomas was very vague in these situations and the journalists didn’t seek clarification. Obviously there would be times when the coach would want to withhold detail but I like this clarity from Andrews.

Sepp van den Berg

I think he can be more open because of the quality of the squad. He’s seems more open on the subject compared to last year when the squad was thinner.
At times Thomas was bare bones and probabaly felt he has to be candid to try and cause some doubt on the oppos sent up.

Any coach who gives injury info that's valuable to the opposition would be an idiot so I was always surprised when people were shocked at TF being misleading in press conferences.
