Everton lost Ndaiye and Beto, failed to replace him and they get an A? Grealish is a good loan but they are undoubtedly weaker now than last season given he was there anyway.
18 first team players after Moyes saying a week ago at 21 players they was short 😳 😆 🤣

This is more than football, it's about high performing organisations. Imagine what a top 6 club could achieve with leaders forging the right culture built on critical thinking, honesty/humility/understanding football! and data analysis!
We’ll have to lead the way on this I’m afraid 🐝

They’ve also only got 1 full back so if their Ukrainian gets injured Moyes will play 4 CB’s or get Rohl Garner to fill in.

No I gave up on him when he changed his accent

On the interview style. I can understand underarm balls to the players, but Phil is perfectly capable of answering open questions.
Yeah I would love to see him in a more “feisty” not so friendly question environment. I’m totally sure he would do great and there would be more juice for us!

Phil runs the club. He completely ignored Kurt for instance :hero:

No one will want to challenge him as everyone knows he is the OG (well the OG after jmf of course)

They also sold a right back and bought a RB who says he doesn't like playing at right back

Been another very strong window for the Bees and PG and the recruitment team have done a great job. Many are saying it’s the best summer window since Pontus, Raya, Norgaard etc and it’s hard to disagree, particularly given we were also able to tie down Thiago and Kayode to longer deals and so no one left that was unexpected.

However, and I’m putting on my crash helmet now and recognising I’m a miserable sod, I wonder if summer 27 might be quite painful. A number of players are coming to the end of a 2-3 year cycle and Sangare in particular may end up being here for a short time. It’s quite conceivable that we could lose Thiago, Kayode, Sangare,
Schade (18 months left…), Jensen, Rico, one/both of VDB/Collins and even Kelleher.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter, as on the whole we’ve bought and sold very well and so I imagine it would be a record transfer windfall (given all contracts except for Schade are sufficiently long) and we’d find sufficient replacements, but I think I’m going to enjoy this squad whilst we have them, as I don’t think European qualification will be enough to keep them all as bees.

Following your theme not all of us will be here by the next Summer window, the Grim Reaper will have taken a few, maybe more than a few. Hope that helps your vibe

Maybe but we will likely have to sell anyway or atleast one or two big sales as that's the model

Circle of life. They're not all gonna stay till they're 50 after all :) it's miles away, loads could happen in the meantime, and we've got brilliant people with incredible track records in charge. So why let it be a fly in your ointment :)

FFS! Enjoy where we are now. What you describe is the ongoing challenge for PG and the recruitment team.

I think it's called discussion. You can enjoy where we are now and also be aware of what may be to come.
You can book a flight home and still enjoy your holiday...

I think it's a fair comment even if I might have said "a bit challenging" rather than "painful" you've added plenty of caveats about why there's no need to panic.

If we have a very successful season, as we hope, it could well attract interest in, especially, the first three players you list: Thiago, Kayode and Sangare. They would all make big money and we'd reinvest.

Plus all 3 mentioned were acquired for their increased resale value alongside the benefits and results of the performances they should deliver, it’s what we (and all other teams want to) do..

I like the way the BBC are doing their 'squad depth' graphics... without wishing to get into a deep debate about LCM vs. CAM etc, we're not looking too shabby are we?

Not to simplify your points. But I do think a single question answers it

Would you rather have a squad full of players the rest of the league. Or a squad no one would touch?

Yes the way the hunting pack for top 4 have had their main assets stripped from them might mean we need to be mindful of the ‘cons’ success brings. But it’s success that brings that, nothing else

Very true, it was not that long ago where we couldnt give our players away, not a good situation. We have a model now that allows us to sell generally under our terms, which then enables the re-investment, whilst enjoying periods like the one we have just had where we have built on a previously successful season. This model has now successfully been in place for approx 12 years, why would anyone doubt how we are run?

I very much doubt we'd sanction the selling of half the team. More likely that we sell 1-3 players for huge money. And those players will then be replaceable, because that's how it works.

It's good, but it assumes that players can only play in one position.

Quite the opposite... I was thinking of it more as pieces on a chess board. Didn't Phil or Lee once say there were 16 or 17 roles/positions?
