They can do that anytime, no? Then he’ll be a free agent signing for someone.

Players have to be free agents at the time when the window closed, in order to be registered at a new club outside the window. So Bidwell is stuck at Coventry for now (unless he wants to move somewhere else and not play until January).

Absolutely and evidently he can still play in the Cups. He was in Coventry's win over Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup last week.
