Wow, what a first half it has been. I'm completely befuddled, and believe everybody is.

Dango is miserable, Dangare proves he is mortal, Dams... well, they have eaten him alive in the first minutes. We are no match for their pace and physicality and I don't know how we still have 0:0 at this point. Schade and KLP are trying to make something going, but they need help. Hopefully, KA has some ideas how to fix this during halftime.

We've tried to grow into it but honestly they've looked much more effective at penetrating the lines.

We need to step up for the second half, but we are capable of that.

Horrible half. Off the pace, losing duels, lacking composure. All the more frustrating because of how easily they're going to ground/how easily fooled the ref is.

Schuster done well. Dango looks he's playing the wrong sport.

Need a spell of good, precise play at the beginning of the second half to restore a bit of fluency to our game.

I'm glad that happened in a way, will bring us down to earth. First 20 minutes the same man to man high press that did for Spurs just didn't work, they have the physical strength to deal with it and played some nice football. And Kayode was getting isolated and overmatched by their winger. We are lucky they lacked a bit of quality up front.

After we gave up the high press and moved our forwards back to help in midfield it became an ordinary tight even game, but we need much more from our forward players. We seem to have become very reliant on KLP, he does much more in the attacking third than either of our wingers. Ouattara has been bad and Damsgaard has been struggling to keep up with play. Shame about Collins but I'm actually excited to see how Schuster does.

Admittedly it was "old Brentford" but back in the day, if that was the case after 45 minutes, we inevitably did find a way to sink to even further depths second half.

Very disappointing first half. Things can only get better.

To be fair to Dango (and Kayode)….Sunderland lose the ball and within 2 seconds they have everyone 10 yards inside their own half behind the ball.
We lose the ball and it’s 2/3/4 of them against our back 4.
They’re performing much much better as a unit defensively.
And our wingers HAVE to be able to attack their man better than they are when they do get it. Schade better than Dango but still the output is tame.

It’s a thing to be said for this division. Managers can change things measurably for the better at half time. We’ve seen it in opposition teams and it’s how we’ve operated too at times.

Wouldn’t call it a battle, we haven’t got within 30 yards of their midfield 2, three up top and dams pushing on being bypassed by one pass and it’s acres of room for them to attack over and over
