EPL... The league with the best football in the world and embarrassingly poor refs. This contrast never fails to amaze me. Bramall gave them so much freedom to do some borderline dirty stuff that it made the game painful to watch. Shirt grabbing, pushing and shoving all 90 minutes. Hard to enjoy it, but this worked for Sunderland. They played their cards perfectly.

Fair result in the end. To avoid defeat after our poor first half showing should be taken as a positive.
Lots of niggly fouls from both teams.
That was a much better Sunderland team than we faced at the Gtech last season.

We almost did enough, but can't really say we deserved the win and all the stats back that up.

Ref gave them far too much, but looking at it objectively, he got the Jaidon disallowed goal right (2 hands on the ball) and the pen right (arms around, not looking at the ball and contact made). Some will say it's soft, but KLP gave the ref a decision to make. Wouldn't have been surprised if we had got a pen in similar circumstances.

Basically, Sunderland stopped us playing and did their homework. And too many of our players were under par first half.

Feels like 2 points dropped but it will do our exciting team some good to keep their feet on the ground and work harder.

Yeah, I know everyone does it, but they took it to some extravagant levels. Especially absurd given they were all man mountains.

So you can take as long as you want over throws and goal kicks, and if you stop a quick throw or free kick, pick the ball up and throw it, and the opposition have to take it from where the ball lands.

What about the fact that KLP was integral to just about every attacking move? I would be wary of sacrificing that for a bit more height personally.

Looked like he was talking about the pen, which to me looked the weakest you will get see, when you look at shade last week and collins first half

That's true, but on the other hand Diouf is reputed to be good going forwards. Good to have the options, but you cannot defend crosses like that.

Must have been very confusing to play with that referee today. Some very soft free kicks given followed by some very lenient and relaxed officiating. You never knew what the boundaries were watching it, let alone whilst on the pitch.

I can’t go along with that. I’ve been happily entertained by many draws we’ve contested but as a paying spectator you don’t want things spoiled by crap officiating.

Interesting game. I felt that we could have been two or three down after 30 minutes. Feels like making subs pre- half time is one of the last taboos in football! Made the right changes at half time and whilst we were the better team second half felt like it was pretty even in terms of chances.

The ref seemed poor but Lewis-Potter gave him no choice in terms of the pen. He’d conceded a free kick for the most blatant holding 10 mins before. I love Keano and he was one of our best players for the first 60. I thought the half time subs, Ajer and Damsgaard were particularly good. Kaoede was atrocious defensively before he went off. Was repeatedly no where near his man but would be interesting to know if the first 25 mins was a result of tactics, personnel or both.

One of the worst refereeing performances we've had in a while, but it was a pen. Soft as f***, but a pen. KLP has given away a couple pens now from being far too involved with stopping the defender and not knowing where the ball is. But I'm not sure how that gets given but our one in the first half doesn't..

Feels like two points dropped because it was late again, but all in all that’s the right result. We never did enough to win it – just looked really off-colour in general.

Sunderland were excellent first half and should’ve been lightyears ahead. Absolutely hated the penalty decision but what can you do?

Final word for Schuster – thrust into a really tricky situation in an underperforming team against one of the most awkward strikers in the league and did pretty bloody well.
