There seemed to be a lot of coordination between Keane, Janelt and Jensen sort-of covering each other, plus understanding from others, so that the default of Matti doing the high press swapped with Vitaly being the furthest forward or Keane going on the right.

I guess that what was referred to as 'training for overloads’.

I could watch that all day long. No Spurs player go anywhere near the ball, we just played it around and eventually through them.

Technically he is one of the best at the club with the ball. Excellent first and second touches and carries the ball with menace. Added power and accuracy to his crossing and almost two footed. Clever player when drifting into unusual positions too. Has developed into and exceptionally good player.

Might be interesting to see what he could do now in the Schade position with Henry/Hickey behind him but as it stands, he's a great fit at LB

Not quite the same but spurs didn't catch on to the fact that the man on the edge of the box was free as sangare also had a free volley that led to the third goal.

It was the most fluid I've seen us play, at one points Collins was the furthest forward in the second half pressing their defence in normal play, it shows a hell of a lot of the whole team taking responsibility all over the pitch and covering for each other.

That was my take on it as well, had Spurs had a better finisher on the ball it could have been a different game altogether, I've no doubt our defensive coaches will also have been aware and spotted it and will be working on it, that to me was about the only flaw in our game, the rest of it was perfect.

He needs to back himself more defensively. His first thought needs to be to play the ball. Yes you can usher your man, but as others said he gave the ref a decision to make.

It’s a bit more nuanced than that. The referees are looking out for him in the penalty area.

It was deemed that he should have conceded a penalty last season versus West Ham and Pro Ref specifically pointed to this incident to premier league clubs over the summer on something they would be clamping down on.

With that in mind it was moronic to have held him in that manner, giving that turd an easy decision to make.

Yup.
The new rules have only compounded what KLP was bad at. He tries to cling on like a limpet because he knows he’ll get beaten in duels. You’re going to give away penalties a lot of the time with that now (and was a fairly big risk before).
Also agree on his crossing. He was the danger man a fair bit, to his credit, but too high a proportion of the crosses were ineffective or into the keepers hands.

The calls for Diouff to start are increasing and you're both probably right.

I haven't seen Diouff play, other than when he's played us. But all the reports about him as a player from W.Ham fans (including my mate) is that he's great going forward, a super crosser of the ball, but goes missing at the back.

Obviously, you'd hope our coaching will address that, but he may not be the magic bullet at the back some expect. Not yet, anyway.

I think he'll be starting sooner rather than later... but my concern now is that he'll really need Collins alongside him in his first few games to provide him with guidance on positioning in our playing style. Let's hope he's a quick learner in training!

Fully agree that it needs to be eradicated, however just watch the shenanigans going on in the Penalty area at corners where defenders have absolutely zero interest where that ball is but instead focus on that forwards. Result ?? Bugger all !!!

All anyone asks for is a level of consistency but seemingly we are further away than ever in achieving it

He gets praised for he ability on the ball and how he gets forward which sums it up. He will be used in a rotation with the other wingers in future and it's a good thing for us.

I know it's one of those laws but Iike I said Isidor was playing for the penalty knowing the (so called) ref was giving them everything and he went down very easily, a half decent ref would have seen that

From the referee’s view/ perspective:
Isidor looked like he was making a genuine attempt to get to/ play the ball.
KLP looked like he was making little/ no attempt to get to/ play the ball (he wasn’t even facing it).

Just invited the ref to award the penalty.

If that had been Ballard doing the same to Igor in the other box, we would have expected a penalty. It works both ways.

He's a good player, but not a full back. We have players who are fit and specialised left backs. It's time to play Malick or Rico in that position and move Keano further forward to compete for a midfield slot.

In that situation as a full back you should always be square on, facing the play. If you’re going to be penalised in that position, it should be for backing in, rather than playing the man whilst facing away from play.

Agreed, but if you watch the highlights, he is facing play when the cross is delivered, at which point the Sunderland player already has hold of him and I think that plays a part in him turning around.
