Interesting night for both managers last night. One was smashing up the scum from Brum and the other was sh*tting the bed in (checks notes) Austria. Martin O'Neill is a w***er who has believed his own hype for far too long. He's just like any other Forest fan, harping on about winning stuff in the 70's and 80's. This was actually before Keith Andrews was born for context.

Yes, he has never got over being correctly called out over his tactics by KA as a pundit, and the resentment continues to simmer away.
He was, of course, a very good player back in the day.

What I love about KA is all this negative nonsense was thrown at him in interviews when he was first appointed, he didn't rise to the bait but answered the questions politely and shut them down quickly. He has proved his doubters so wrong and although he would be entitled to rub their noses in it he maintains a respectful silence, something Keane and O'Neill have always struggled to maintain.

His press conferences and interviews are a delight to watch generally. He considers each question on its merits, and then answers them clearly, straightforwardly and respectfully, usually with depth and nuance (even when some of them aren't exactly deserving of that consideration). A really impressive approach and style.

He uses 'daily basis' in 'abundance'. I miss the agonised aaarrrgggghhh of a previous incumbent. Excellent head coach is our KA.

you took the words right out of my fingers . We were so dominate the first half that if we werent 2 or 3 up I knew the second half would not be the same . Keith and co should of reacted to their changes and should of expected them

Yep. Not too sure what the change should have been. But the midfield is where that second half was lost.

I daresay were Bees to play that game again, KA might react differently in the second half.

But never forget the old military saying that "The enemy has a vote in every battle." That is, Farke is pretty clever, too, so that it may not be so much that KA did anything "wrong" in the second half - what different subs/tactics would you have used? - but Farke just did better.

Meaning Leeds fans might equally ask: "How did Farke get it so wrong in the first half, that we had to settle for scraping a home draw?" After all, Farke's "second half side" was well able to compete.

Me? I put it down to (a ) it being just the second game, so that while BFC are clearly making an excellent start to the season, not everything "clicks" 100% from the off; (b ) Leeds possibly being better than we have been giving them credit for; and (c )not getting a penalty that might have been awarded on another day.

Also, we needed and deserved to be more than one goal ahead after that first half, and energy levels were perhaps bound to drop in the second half. They just had to go for it - nothing really to lose unless we scored on the break.

Don't think Keith could have done much else, players just lost their cool abit and got a tad sloppy/tired. Maybe some subs on sooner would have helped but then some would have questioned that too

Personally I don't think KA could have done much, it was obvious to anyone who knows about football that Leeds would change it in the 2nd half after being totally out of it 1st half, and I think it's credit to Leeds (I say that very begrudgingly) and Farke that they turned it around like they did.
In the end it was a tale of 2 halves and with the exception of the no penalty that a draw was a fair outcome

Agreed and I also find it a bit odd that he'd be expected to hook players who had done so well in the first half. Leeds looked better for sure but they weren't all over us and we were still looking pretty dangerous ourselves. We were a sh*tty refereeing decision away from a perfect away performance.

The second half was a bit of a 50-50 game tbh after the total dominance of the first. But apart from a ten minute spell it's not like we were dominated, they created little really and we had a great chance (Thiago's) and a dubious decision go against us. You aren't going to have everything your own way.

Changing shape, formation and personnel plus getting a rollicking at half time means we were never going to be as comfortable second half. Add the fact that our passing got a little less accurate and Elland Road is no place for the faint hearted. The pen not being awarded was a disgrace, the ref was right there, on MOTD the pundit said it was nailed on. We’ve made a great start, roll on Saturday.

Agreed, also had we have had last weeks ref (Michael Oliver) no way would the 4 yellows to us and 0 to Leeds been the order of the day, there shouldn't be a vast difference in Ref's in the Premier League, but yesterday proved there still is.

Not much new, though I didn’t know he was one of 5 x 15yo that came over to Wolves. Only Keith and Robbie Keane made the grade. Nice to hear his story in his own words.

I spoke to a couple of Wolves fans before the game at the Gtech last season, and they mentioned Keith's time at Wolves. They were involved in providing homes for the youngsters.

Brave move to make 3 subs at half time when the game is at 0-0 and the Captain had already been subbed off due to injury. It worked out for him though with a much improved performance in the 2nd half.

Good management today. Reacted fairly promptly to our problems, adjusted the press in the first half to steady the ship. 3 subs at HT was laying down a marker to the squad about the standards expected and all 3 did well. He treads the line well of being demanding of the players but defensive of them in public.

We will never know, but making 3 subs, 2 of them nailed on starters, tells us all we need to know about how pissed off he was.

Pretty sure TF would have not have done that.

The next PL starting line up will be interesting after that. I think Sangare will return and although Kayode has been brilliant for us, it's difficult to bench Hickey after yesterday.

What it probably shows it it's horses for courses.With hindsight, Keith probably shouldn't have picked Kayode against such a pacey winger. He wasn't helped by Dango who was awful and hasn't impressed this season.

Dango has definitely played himself on to the bench. Really not sure about others. KLP is right to be criticised for his penalty giveaway, but otherwise has started well and Diouff's reputation for defending isn't great either.

I felt he was at his most self controlled in the interview. Looked very cross and disappointed, I think the players will get that message. Loved the little comment about the refereeing. Top man.

Yep, very controlled and measured in his response, but his expression, before he spoke, said everything you needed to know about how he felt.

Excellent post match interview from Keith. Some players not up to standard today, without slagging them off. Ref was right for the pen, defending not good enough but otherwise, ref was poor.

I'm hoping that a defender's 'not great' reputation for defending still makes him a better defender, though, especially with the quality of coaching we can dedicate to him. We're at a level where a number of opponents will have tactics and wingers that demand a top level of full backs. Having the option to play top level defending full backs will be essential for us to progress. It's that simple.

That triple sub was what the game needed. I thought that right side was out of sorts. Hickey did well and I think Jaidon worked a lot harder than Dango (I love Dango btw). The Sangare sub may have raised a few eyebrows but he was on a yellow and I thought he was living precariously. Could have easily got a second yellow before HT.
One thing we need work on is our defending when balls come in the box. I don't like that penalty decision at all but if KLP is smarter in that moment, the ref hasn't got a decision to make.

In the first half, their number 10 always had acres of space, when he received the ball. I think the reason a combination of Kayode not being on his game and that he was left exposed, because Dango wasn't giving him any cover, so he was caught having to monitor the winger and the man "behind him".

Jaidon was on the offensive, from the off and was tracking back, leaving Aaron to handle the number 10 and he's very good at that (his "schooling" in Italian defending always impresses me). The testimony was that they took the number 10 off.

I would have voted for Keith as Man of the Match had that option been afforded to us. Well done Keith, your brave and inciteful actions saved us from a likely defeat.
