Am I missing something or is it really £53 return for the fast train from Paddington?

Feck that…
You are missing something , it’s £ 19.55 return with a network card Padd-Reading return or 24 for the one that takes 28 mins

This game is defo one we can cycle too and from. Kennet and Avon canal links to the Thames path.
Surely a little bit sketchy on the way home. I recall some loon wanted to cycle to the Grimsby game from a hotel on the outskirts… would have meant riding on duel carriage ways. Thankfully commmon sense prevailed and a taxi was taken.

I'll be on the train, just leading people towards the useful info. There is a warning about a 45 min waiting, might be less for such a low key game against a little club....Or as said above the fire drill might have started by 9:15

Someone in the other thread said opportunist parking on industrial estates etc. can get you clamped, sounds a bit risky to me but up to the individual. Maybe there is plenty of off street and on street parking. Good luck.

Irrelevant observation. The club car park is £12 a game. If you commit to a whole season (23 games) it's £276 which is £12 x 23 - what a great deal!

There are loads of places to park on the A33, most of the buildings will charge you a fee, but there are always loads

You mean all those small car parks attached to industrial units? You just turn up, choose one and pay on the day?

That bloody roundabout by the Maccies that ha speed bumps on it, I'd erased that from emery until we met late Sunday evening

Last time I pre booked one in just park, it was about a 20 min walk, but you don’t want to be parked any nearer than that. And to be fair, it’s only 2 junctions for me so 10-15 on the motorway

Parking anywhere that leaves you with an exit route on the 'new' A33 is madness – you need to find parking that allows an exit onto the 'old' A33, Basingstoke Road, that takes you directly to the M4 mess-about, even that's busy.

Yup, west on the M4, turn right at J11 (North) onto A33, go toward Reading, turn around and come back and make sure you are facing South on the A33 toward the M4. Park somewhere there. To be fair, I have driven through Reading to the next junction 10 to get on the M4 without too much drama.

Be warned that the shuttle buses from Reading Station do not accept concessionary bus passes.so it will be £3 each way.

If you’re buying a train ticket do it to Reading green park (15mins walk to ground through paths) as it’s same price as to Reading….makes sense 👍

Isn’t that the normal price ?

I’ve had confirmation from my friend at swr that the ticket machines are not that sosphisticated so you can use tickets out of sequence and benefit from the cheaper prices ex reading

Ah commit fraud. Why some people just don't pay their train fare I have no idea.

Fraud : an act of deceiving or misrepresenting
Isn’t that what train companies in UK are doing on a daily basis, sir Banana?

Has anyone managed to book parking at the stadium? The link on that page takes you to the ticketing page - where, even after registering , there is no option for parking.

I've sent them an email but just wondering if I am missing something obvious.
@Alex is your man for this matter

Lizzie line you need
Elizabeth line is showing at £21.50 from Ealing Broadway as a single. Then presumable cheaper return trip.
Looks much cheaper to head into Paddington and get the train (with network rail card).
Am I missing something? Can I get a return ticket on the Elizabeth line?

Edit Google says I can but can’t see the price.

You can check TFL single fare prices here Single fare finder

As per the above it’s £10.50 each way if off peak apparently.
From AI-
Off-Peak Hours: Monday to Friday outside of 06:30–09:30 and 16:00–19:00

Sorry mate, I should have been clearer. I need a return.
Gonna leave early and avoid the peak price on the outbound.
More time for beers too!
Yes and I wasn't providing you with a complete answer.

TFL don't do return fares anymore but GWR do. Return prices you can get on National Rail website etc.
The evening peak doesn't usually apply to return fares/"paper tickets" unless the train is specifically barred from being an off peak service so it can be cheaper to be on a return ticket our of Paddington between 4pm and 7pm instead of a contactless ticket for that reason.

Ref Parking options near the ground.Follow the link at Reading fc and find our match . Two choices - tickets for the match or parking.Select the P for parking 🅿️ option on the Reading v Brentford ticket area. You can buy parking in the red area for £12. You have to create an account which is easy so you can input your newly created member number . This part is free. Then after confirming your account by email you can buy the parking and download it to print it or send to your phones wallet .I imagine leaving the car park is a lesson in patience to get out from there - the official site says cars are only blocked for 20 minutes after the match finishes - but realistically it could be an hour plus with 1000’s of cars leaving at the same time. Alternatively Park and ride is available on a pay on arrival basis at two nearby sites. Foster Wheeler is P&R and looks okay (500 spaces) on the old Basingstoke Road for a quick exit
