You know what I love about Kevin? When we were playing out from the back, he was there just able to receive the ball, make the right passing decision, be the out-ball, but keeping it rather than losing out.

He is such a good team player. And then that goal...

Exactly my point.
Even when he's having a bad game, he still keeps the opposition on their toes, as he is good in the air and his pace can create something from nothing.

Yet we have people on here moaning he doesn't smile enough 😂🙈🙈

If so, over 2 and a half years, that's quite some stat.

I’m hoping the rumours are true on twitter that he’s in talks about a new contract. Of course, I know it’s hardly breaking news however it’s positive to hear that we are working on it and it’s an option and that he’s not made a decision to look elsewhere.

Obviously I have no insight so just speculating but I wonder if the biggest sticking point will be a release clause rather than the wages. You don’t often hear about them with our players but I can’t think Kev will sign anything without one. I imagine we’ll be aiming for somewhere a little north of what we got for Mbeumo but obviously Kev’s camp will be trying to knock that down.

That's just because they are reporting the fact that Teamtalk published the story, not because they have any insight themselves. All that gossip column does is aggregate online rumours. I wish it didn't exist because people misunderstand it and think that it's a new source from a legitimate organisation when it's actually nothing of the sort.

Release clauses are really only of value to players who think their club will stand in the way of good transfers and put silly valuations on to hold them against their will. That’s not really us now is it?

If Schade has a great season he’s going to command a big fee due to high demand even without a new contract. If the maximum potential signing bonus and wage from an Arsenal level team is the be all and end all he won’t sign. But a great season may well see him playing CL for us and getting into Klopp’s plans for Euro 28. Aside from money we remain a very good medium term option for him.

Many wide forwards tend to be inconsistent, if they are consistently good the opposition will double up on them, but that in turn will free up space for other players. Kevin is played as an inverted wide forward, encouraged to move inside onto his stronger right foot to have a shot or a cross. He has suffered that he hasn't had a full back with a strong left foot to produce a quality cross from the byline overlapping him. KLP has been great at left back but he mostly also cuts inside onto his stronger right foot. I feel Kevin will become more effective going forward once Diouf is played at left back.

Two proper proper goals this afternoon. His second is a thing of beauty, he makes the half volley lob look very very easy but it really wasn't. He had a superb game all over the pitch. Great to hear the crowd recognising it too with a "Schade again olé" chorus or two.

Not sure as he does either need to be sold or sign a new contract as we are past the last two years now of his current deal. Arsenal are apparently interested

As much as those demanding his sale seemed to have something fundamental against him….

Can we not enjoy a player improving without using it as ammo.

Last season was not his greatest. This season, been brilliant. Can we just leave it at that?

At the time – and rewatching it a few times after – I think it showed his instinct and skill is absolutely spot-on; there was no hesitation, he just saw the opportunity and hit it as if it was a session at Jersey Road. Like many excellent players, if there's a lot of time to think about it then he'd be closed down and the criticism lands. He needs to trust his instinct more.

There were plenty moaning about him on the matchday thread as usual yesterday, even after his first goal. Apparently he goes down too easily (tee hee) and was responsible for Muff's first goal - even though Ajer basically passed it to their scorer. So the micro analysis of his performance and meaningless interpretations of his body language persist. Despite the fact he's arguably our best performer at the moment. At least they had the sense to pipe down after his second....
