Thank the Lord for a sensible and balanced opinion on where we are at.
We’re not world beaters but we (just like Bournemouth) are damned hard to beat which should stand us in good stead as the season progresses.
And Chels on Friday is going to be very interesting, yes they can attack, but no, they can’t defend
..which lord would that be... from where I was standing....he had absolutely f*** all to do with us getting a point today.

Sometimes I look across the pitch at the end of a match and see players absolutely spent. One of the features of a typical Brentford player (as mandated by our recruiting profile) is honesty and having players who are prepared to dig in when they need to, even though it might not be their best day. I then read the GPG about how sh*t they've been, or how bad player X was and every time I despair a little. Football is such an easy game when all you have to do is watch.

I agree. As long as they give everything then that's good enough for me

Their first goal went through the legs of defender. 5cm either way and that was blocked. And you cannot tell me that matey drilled into that slot either, as it didn't exist before he shot

We have all heard (but perhaps not remembered) that football is a game predominately determined by chance.

Sometimes it doesn't work out and a 40% change in teams suggested that

However we had a great bench and Diouf was a complete monster when he came on.

Can't wait until Friday to do those arseholes over

Just back from the game. Battled hard but very little by way of quality. I cannot remember how many times we gave the ball easily away in the last 20 mins but coach Keith will be spitting feathers.

I thought Thiago ran his backside into the ground for the team. Their midfield was much more of a threat and on a number of occasions they hit us easily in behind the channels.

Bees in great voice. Unbeaten still, just, but we need to be a little more creative. It will come.
It was a game where both sides were forced into panicky spells – although ours were more than theirs, it was frantic for a lot of the time. IMHO, we missed Collins with his long balls out of defence; you could see AFCB's centre backs opening the game up with their long balls into the channels. For a lot of the time Sangaré managed Scott well but we had real difficulty with Tavernier on our left.

Considering the number of key players missing, I thought we battled well with real character.

.. our boys did us proud today...they worked so hard....to a man.

As the dust settles it’s refreshing to see many on here giving Bournemouth their due.

This will most likely turn out to be an excellent away point. For all the talk about how we struggled to play, and it’s a fair point, we’ve got to remember how difficult that is to do at this level.

Take out three of our most accomplished players in the build-up phase in VdB, Collins and Jensen and we simply can’t expect to have games like this, away from home, totally on our own terms.

You’ve got to rely sometimes on a bit of luck, sure, but also doggedness and killer instinct. Sangaré and Schade delivered killer moments today that you can’t take for granted. The entire team stuck at a very difficult task. Those are both markers of real quality.

Keith Andrews was clearly unhappy with big parts of our performance today and I’m a bit surprised by that but that’s just testament to the very high standards and expectations he feels we’ve set for ourselves. If he believes can do much better than we did today, given the level of opponent, that’s exciting in itself.

Indeed.
When the final whistle went there were at least 4 players who just collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.
Say what you like about skills, tactics, decisions etc, but that team gave every thing today.
Yet, armchair critics will still have a pop based on pretty much no real sense of how the game actually was.

Muff are a decent side, but for a bit of context for the gushers of how great they are, they haven't won a game yet under their new manager.
I have seen three of their games now. Very unlucky v City, robbed against Everton and today. They pass the eye test for me. We did well without playing well.

I am! Pretty sure we will play much better than today.

Last two games we have been pretty dire tbh but, given the way we were set up to play at the start of the season, we are clearly taking time to adjust to the absence of Jensen and our two first choice CBs

The concerns for me are:

Igor looks very low on confidence (needs a goal)
Neither Jaidon or Dango are making a strong case to be starters
For whatever reason, we seem unable to revitalise Damsgaard

The big plus, of course, is Schade, who looks transformed in terms of confidence and positivity! :)
Surprised you say Igor looks very low on confidence.

I thought he was one of our contenders for Man of the Match. On quite a few occasions, with much skill he brilliantly kept control of the ball when surrounded by 2 or 3 Bournemouth players. Linked well with our players. For me, as a striker he displays a fantastic team ethic in so much of his play as seen today with his usual work rate and covering back when others are committed right upfront. Indeed, if he performs like he did today, perhaps you can explain in words exactly what "looks very low on confidence" looks like, as I can't see it I'm afraid.

Yet they could’ve very easily won four out of four and no one would say they were lucky.

Fine margins and all that…

After seeing this season’s squad put in some extremely impressive performances so far, the team struggled today mainly let down by their own technique with a lack of control of the ball and poor passing after gaining possession which lead to a very sub-par display.

Seeing Yarmo in what appeared to be the No 10 rôle at the start seemed peculiar even though we know he’s a talented footballer and Hickey at right back wasn’t a major concern as he played well, but the all-round sloppiness made it difficult to get any cohesion.

Keith has said that he wasn’t happy with individual performances and one would hope that they can get this out of the system quickly before Friday, which I am expecting them to do.

An impressive performance by Schuster. He had a couple of moments, but handled them well and looked fairly solid throughout. And a fantastic bit of coolness and composure from Kevin that got us a point.

On another day, had Bournemouth taken their chances, we would be drowning our sorrows after a heavy defeat, but that didn’t happen and we got a draw and remain unbeaten after our first four PL games (which might be a first?).

Bournemouth 2 Brentford 2 (Schade (2))

Erm, we got away with that.

Scahde's first goal came out of nowhere, what a brilliant header and a reminder of what he's capable of.... yes he's frustrating but there's more good than bad. It didn't feel like we would hold onto the lead, I think since KA took over we must have dropped more points from winning positions than any other team? Not sure about that as a stat but it certainly feels like it.

I thought Schuster was too easily turned for Bouremouth's 2nd, he'll be disappointed with that in what otherwise was a solid performance. Our 2nd was a gift, well taken by Schade.

The reality is it could have gone either way at the end, but we never truly looked like scoring. Bmuff on the other hand I think should have scored a 3rd and they'll be disappointed with a point... where as we are delighted with it.

Kelleher- Excellent, MOTM
Hickey- Solid defensively but doesn't offer much going forward
Schuster- Impressed with him
Ajer- Not his best game again, he doesn't look as solid this season as last
KLP- Bit of a meh of a performance, again didn't offer as much going forward as usual
Yarmo- Chasing shadows mostly, did a job tho... again not creative
Janelt- Good defensively and offensively, just no real options ahead of him
Sangare- I thought he was really good, after a poor performance against Sunderland
Schade- Got us out of jail, 2 really well taken goals
Thiago- Worked really hard again but doesn't look like scoring right now, desperately needs a goal
Anthony- Pretty average again unfortunately, he's neat on the ball but goes missing

Kayode- Thought he looked well off it, looks to me like he must be carrying a knock, not himself at all... wanted to sub him off again tbh
Diouff- Great crosses in, however I think KLPs position could still be safe
Damsgaard- Ahhh it's just not working at the moment is it, a bit like Thiago... just out of form. Weak on the ball again
Dango- He's had a poor start to the season let's be honest, looked miles off it

We massively miss Jensen.

I make that 2 great halves v Spurs, an amazing performance 1st half v Leeds... and since Leeds second half i'd say we've been pretty average. You could say that you couldn't have argued about us getting 0 points from Sunderland and Bmuff, but coming out with 2 keeps heads a little higher.

We're going to have to be better v Chelsea at home, which I imagine we will be. Keith will be happy with the start of the season points wise but will see the same worrying signs that we do. This league is ridiculously tough, but we're 5th and will go ahead of Chelsea once we beat them. I think we will be WELL up for the Chelsea game.

1 point gained! Scott is some player. Really impressed with him. Can see what the fuss is about.

Bournemouth 2 Brentford 2 (Schade (2))

Yes but 2 lucky draws would you not agree? Could easily been 2 defeats which would have left us just about the drop zone. I guess it’s crazy to say when we’re still 5th, I’m just saying it seems we’ve had a little slump but hopefully some Royal arse kicking will get us going again?
But that lucky draw yesterday could have been a lucky win. That’s how football works. They’ll be a stat saying we dropped points from winning positions the last 3 weeks

Were you there ?
That’s really disrespectful to our players who worked their socks off against a very good side and maintained an unbeaten record in the toughest league in the world.
Also how did we rob them with our two goals ? The first an inch perfect cross and powerful header, the second an exquisite chip to take advantage of a presented opportunity.
Sorry, but fail to see how that is disrespectful. I didn't criticise effort at all. I could have criticised quality of passing and maintaining possession, but didn't.

Having just 2 shots on target, scoring from both, and having an xG of 0.5 to show for it against their total of 2.18 and 10 on target suggests we robbed them. Or were fortunate to get out with a draw based on every stat, if you prefer. Keith himself said there was plenty he wasn't happy with. Is that also disrespectful?

And I'm 100% sure if those stats were the other way around, every single Brentford fan would be saying we were the ones robbed.

It was a hard-earned point. We are unbeaten. We have not played well in the last 2 games, yet not lost either. We are 5th in the PL. All these things are really positive and auger well for when we hit our straps again.

But we were very much 2nd best yesterday - sorry if you take that as a mark of disrespect.

Difference being we had a class goalkeeper.... They didn't

Fair enough, I am mainly going on the first half when to my eyes he seemed rather disconnected to the game and his first touch was not brilliant. I am also including previous games, particularly Sunderland.

There is no question about his work-rate and I have absolutely no doubt he will come good but all strikers need goals and he is no different

Steer clear of the comments posted during the match on here then, presumably from those not in attendance, some absolute throbbers

Think we did well, especially considering we started with a 50% new back line with Schuster and Hickey coming in. Takes time for players to develop an understanding and thought we looked vulnerable down the right as a result.

Would much prefer to see Kayode start there, despite his sub par performance the other week. He brings so much more attacking power than Hickey. Wonder if KA will also unleash Diof on the other flank v Chelsea, possibly too soon to make yet more changes at the back and KLP still doing well there

Bournemouth 2 Brentford 2 (Schade (2))

We are missing our 2 starting CBs and our most creative pressing midfielder (so sue me).
If we are hanging on in games against tough opposition and getting points now, we are laughing
It's been a long time since Kelleher has been so exposed, we've got to be more organised next Friday and then hope that Collins, Berg and Jensen are back and match fit for Villa.
