The penalty was at the Brook Road end.

One interesting thing about his penalties was that he always put them in the same spot -- low to the goalkeeper's left. He had a theory that goalkeepers were slower getting down on their left-hand side.

So many memories and so sad; I can see him taking the penalty into the Ealing Road against Exeter as if it were yesterday, one of the great Brentford moments.

RIP Bobby (and we should have never let you go to Cambridge, just as bad decision as letting big John go to Blackburn)

I remember seeing him play. A very hard-working type of player, midfield/inside forward if you go back that far! I think he went to Hayes after the Bees, and after that, QPR, though not as a player.

Saw him play a number of times for Hayes, think he was player coach for part of it

Apart from the announcement before the Spuds game, there doesn't seem to have been any other acknowledgement or tribute. Have I missed something?

When I worked at the club in match day hospitality then Bobby was always a welcome guest, extremely polite, great with his time, the fans loved him and were always delighted when sat with him at his table.

I used to take my Bees books in with me for the legends to sign and I asked Bobby if he would sign my 125 years of Brentford book and particularly the photo of him scoring the penalty against Exeter in 1972.

I presented the picture to him and said sign anywhere please and he just stared at the photo. He said that it was the first time that he had seen that and it was like all the memories, sights and sounds were rushing back to him in that moment.

RIP Bobby, thanks for being so good to me and helping out when asked.

We did recognise his passing at the game v Spurs along with one of theirs. Nothing great though. He was one of the very best when I was a teenager. Philips (or Brodie) Hawley, Gelson, Nelmes, Graham, Docherty, Cross, O'Mara - and Bobby Ross. RIP Bobby, I enjoyed watching you and your team. Highlights - Cardiff and Hull away in the FA Cup and promotion next season with your pen a top moment. That Exeter game seemed to go on for ever!
