First chance for Bees, a Maddie Phillips freekick causes chaos in the Barking box. Bit of a scramble, but ball falls for Barking keeper.

Ball goes straight down the other end and we end up make a decent save. Early touch for Francis-Pownall.

Maddie Philips puts it away with real power. Barking fan next to me comments that their men’s keeper wouldn’t have got close to it.

Speculative ball…. Our defence just completely missed it…. Ball almost dribbles into the net apologetically.

Not even sure what happened there, ball was so insipid, took my eye off it, thinking it was so nothing.

Kiszkis is down, after being sythed down. Barking bench up in arms that it’s been given as a foul.

Ref allowing a prolonged break to try and calm everyone down.

We let Barking in again. Long ball from their keeper… we’re slow off our lines again and misunderstanding between defence and keeper. We scramble it away, but our defence is looking shaky.

Barking tactics are clear. Run down the clock, then punt the ball long down the pitch. That long ball is having success against us too.

We look good going forward, but dodgy at the back. We’ve had more chances, but not been ruthless enough. Barking not having the chances, but still look like they might score with every long ball over the top.
We are playing too much in the middle. Gilligan & Smith are working hard, but just keep getting crowded out. We look more dangerous when we get the ball on the wing to either Philips or Constantine.
Big second half coming up.

Feel we are turning the screw here. But not getting the results. Patience bees.

Brentford were kind of dominating but the Blues always looked dangerous on the counter and they just scored a World.

I think the difference this year is that more sides will take points off of each other. Can see Bromley, Barking, Hammersmith & Sutton, all taking points off of each other.

Can see this being an important point come the end of the season.

FT 2-2 (HT 1-1)

Come the end of the season, I think will reflect that today was a good point won. However, as the final whistle blew, the contrast between the two sets of players, was quite stark. Barking were very much the happier of the two sides.

I wonder after the effort of last weeks match against Hammersmith, if there was a little complacency today. Barking though have started the season well, and I think they will be in the mix come the end of the season.

Barking had a plan to exploit us by the use of the long ball, to hustle and harried us, and stay in the game for as long as possible & try and nick something. They executed it perfectly, and were quite deserving of their point. In fact despite their celebrations at the final whistle, they may later reflect how they missed the opportunity to gain all three points themselves.

We played well up front, but just couldn’t find that killer pass. Barking defended extremely well. We were forced to play through a compact centre that was packed with Barking midfielders. Gilligan and Smith were swamped at times in the middle, and Cheatley and Kiszkis had to fall deeper and deeper to assist. We looked better when we got the ball out wide, trouble is we didn’t do so enough.

Cheatley put in one hell of a shift today, and deserved a goal. But today wasn’t to be our day. We worked hard, but it never quite clicked. That said, Cheatley pass and Kiszkis finish were very sweet for our second.

As much as our front line played well, our defence looked very wayward at times today. I try not to dwell on individual players mistakes, but the first Barking goal cost us the three points today. That said, Barkings second goal was a belter and deserved to be the winning goal. Don’t think our defence could have done anything about that one.

Last season, a drop of points such as today may have been a killer to our promotion prospects, but this season I think the league is much more open. Barking will take other points off of other sides. 4 points after the last two tough away games, is not a bad haul. Still undefeated and one of the toughest games of the season ticked.

Still a long way to go in the league, but we now turn our attention to the FA Cup.
