How is it that refs can refer to players by name and at the same time pretend they’re not aware that this Enzo and this Bruno fellow are evil, constant cheat?Pathetic cheating bastard Enzo
This is awful even by the low standards of Pro Ref.
You DO NOT have to play the ball to be offside.

If he not offside what is he! Terrible decision I honestly think its got worse this season! What a load of tosh - on all 4 parts of the law that determines offside Fernandez ticks every single box
This season by VAR:If he not offside what is he! Terrible decision I honestly think its got worse this season!
The rules are so explicit, and everyone on this board knows it. But the guy being paid to know the rule doesn’t? I mean, what?Carrick has every right to be absolutely furious about that. The onfield officials got it spot on and some idiot watching a replay doesn't even know the f***ing rules!
And why wasn't the ref asked to look at it on the monitor?
But it has distracted from a pretty insipid performance from his team, who were lucky not to be down to ten themselves...Carrick has every right to be absolutely furious about that. The onfield officials got it spot on and some idiot watching a replay doesn't even know the f***ing rules!
And why wasn't the ref asked to look at it on the monitor?
Former incompetent referee Graham Scott coming out to bat for the awful decision making will not come as a surprise to anyone who has watched Scott referee a match.

Otoh, maybe "bang average" is still a level or two above where they were under Amorim (or were heading, at least)? Now they’ve given Carrick the job they seem to have reverted to being bang average.
Do you consider refs knowing the rules worse than the people on this board a concern?Do you consider constantly moaning about referees to be a personal hobby or do you just have too much free time on your hands?
While I expect @Untouchable to give a withering reply, I don't know why he doesn't try to make a difference by phoning up Talksport or summat.Do you consider constantly moaning about referees to be a personal hobby or do you just have too much free time on your hands?
Yes.Do you consider constantly moaning about referees to be a personal hobby
Same thought crossed my mind. Must be weird right now being an United fan…On the plus side, we can no longer complain that sh*t VAR decisions wouldn’t be given against Man U at Old Trafford.
Indeed. Or dodgy penalties against Arsenal. On the plus side, we can no longer complain that sh*t VAR decisions wouldn’t be given against Man U at Old Trafford.
I guess it evens up Bruno staying on the field when he should also have been sent off for kicking Foden. What goes around....On the plus side, we can no longer complain that sh*t VAR decisions wouldn’t be given against Man U at Old Trafford.
Dale says it was a VAR mistake.

The feed I watched eventually showed the semi-automated line drawn that showed Haaland was a millimetre behind Dorgu’s outstretched big toenail. But you didn’t need lines to tell that Fernandez was a million miles offside. Why were there no lines drawn for Haaland's goal? Is that not done anymore?
Absolutely nothing. It’s completely irrelevant. What does Graham Scott's point about Martinez can see the ball all the way mean?
That he could still play the ball, i.e. that Fernandez doesn't "interfere" with play. Not sure it's right but i believe it's what he's trying to say. What does Graham Scott's point about Martinez can see the ball all the way mean?
To be fair, I don’t think any fans ever said any of the above. Maybe pundits etc did.Indeed. Or dodgy penalties against Arsenal.
Refs generally call it as they see it. Not always right, obviously.
I'm really not sure people will ever be happy:
1. Refs make too many mistakes. "We need VAR." VAR arrives, then...
2. "VAR is being used too much. It's re-refereeing games." VAR usage is reduced to reiterate it will only get involved in obvious errors, then...
3. "Refs are making mistakes. Why is VAR not overturning that?"
So, we will go between no.2 and 3 on a loop for the next few years.
The fact is with multi cameras, replays and stills, there will always be some decisions open to interpretation and not stonewall. 100% consistency is impossible between multiple games, refs and interpretations.
Pundits, managers and armchair experts need to accept this. If they can't, then don't moan that we go back to no. 2 above and have decisions taking ages.
Bit harsh on @UntouchableAnother two piss poor decisions.
4 games in and we are littered with appalling decisions again. It is like they are untouchable, hidden away and not accountable.
