Figured it was just a half each for him and Yarm, with Janelt rested and Dams playing 90… so we know the midfield for Friday!Any insight as to why Sangare went off? Hopefully to keep fresh for Friday
We let ourselves down with terrible finishing but the link play was excellent and we moved from back to front calmly and at times speedily. We were in control for the overwhelming majority of the game and the passing accuracy was back after Saturday’s poor performance on the ball.
Given the team selection we were always going to be vulnerable at set pieces but we got away with it.
Ajer and Schuster did well but Rico was superb. Damsgaard too was sharp on the ball and Carvalho flitted in and out of the game but took his goal well.
Wilson did what Wilson does and for all his frustrating had two assists. Thiago was too tentative with his chance but that’s where I came in.
In and around the box we were profligate. Up to the final third I was impressed.

It was the Reading Bench wasn't it?They had a goal disallowed, so did we; result was about right. Remember, lower league clubs often raise their game against Premier League opposition in these cup games, so we’ve avoided a slip on a banana skin scenario. Into the hat for the next round - that’s all that matters. Safe journey home all!

The answer in order isIs football about
A: Performances
B: Results
C: Expectations
D: building for the future
?
Result was excellent. Not quite as good possibly as expectations, performance was sharper than the last two games and Reading got in to the game and made a match of it. Getting Fabio minutes is good for the future.
I was really happy with that. Cup games only one thing matters.
I also love Keith’s wild playing of players all out of position. With that in mind it would be foolish to expect perfection.
Dams looked well up for it. Yarmo looked like a machine. We would have loved seven goals for the bees but who cares. We won.
And.
We had as many fans there as Reading.
I think most of that is right but I’d say we actually picked our moments well and were incisive just lacked a finish or bit of luck.We picked a team to conserve energy for Friday that should have had enough to get through and that's what happened. I thought we progressed the ball well without being incisive when we got to the final 3rd but didn't do it in long enough spells to put them out of the game.
For most of the game we tried a novel formation of a single centre midfielder which I doubt we will see often.
We always looked like conceding from a set piece and I thought the subs after the goal settled us down enough to see it out.
They played their cup tie last midweekHow come Chelsea don’t have a midweek this week?
Played & beat Leeds in EFL R3 last mid-week.How come Chelsea don’t have a midweek this week?
We should also have played last week, so as to be fair between the two sides, surely? They played their cup tie last midweek
Correct. We should also have played last week, so as to be fair between the two sides, surely?
I've looked back at it time and time again and I cannot find an offence.A- how has he disallowed the goal
B- how has he blown for full time with Thiago clear through
... this made me lol...'shooting practice'...havent heard that said since my days playing in the Surrey combination League late eighties..brilliant...no disrespect to you mate... seriously... just genuinely funny... and you're right btw... hope he does.I seriously hope Andrews gets the team in for shooting practice.... WOEFUL performance in front of the goal...
Equally ludicrous decision to disallow theirs, to be fair.Ludicrous decision to disallow Schuster's header. He won it totally cleanly and then his momentum took him into the defender. I sometimes wonder if many refs have ever even played football.
Knee in the back from the refs angle is all I can come up with. Unless heading the ball with excessive force is an offence nowYou are the ref. Why have you disallowed this goal?

At least in this clip the ref explains it!
He did but it's not an offence to have your boot in the air.At least in this clip the ref explains it!
Dango is starting to worry me

What, from a corner?Offside
Makes as much sense as anything else doesn't itWhat, from a corner?
It is in some circumstances. From Law 12:He did but it's not an offence to have your boot in the air.
I didn't see Sangare move his head to stop it being kicked off.The Reading player had his boot about 6 foot off the ground and Sangare quite obviously turns to stop his head from being kicked off. Ref has concluded that he either threatens injury to Sangare or prevents him playing the ball for fear of injury.
It is in some circumstances. From Law 12:
“PLAYING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER
Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury.
A scissors or bicycle kick is permissible provided that it is not dangerous to an opponent.”

Ref got this one spot on.
He’ll get a rest and recovery before Friday. I’m sure he’ll be fineAjer having to pay three full matches in a week is concerning.
